Sure, Joel and Adam are great, but I'm so invested in Chris and Luka. If Simon harms a hair on either of their heads, I won't answer for my actions.*

Well, that was an incredibly stressful volume that ended on several giant cliffhangers. I'm glad now that I'd put off reading this series for so long...now it should only be about a month until I get to read the final volume. And there better not be more delays, because I need to know what happened!!
I'm honestly not that concerned about Adam or Joel, despite the way this one ends. It just isn't that tragic of a story, so I'm certain they'll find their happy ending somehow. But the progression of their relationship has been so beautifully told. It's pretty amazing to see how far Adam has come, and how much his love for Joel has transformed him. He's still passionate and emotional and ridiculous in his usual ways, but when it comes down to it, he's such a point of stability and so incredibly trustworthy. As he promised at the start of this volume when he kissed Joel's ring, he would lay down his life for him.
And it hits really hard for him to take that step moments after learning just why Joel has been so closed off from everything resembling a "normal" happy life...because as a commoner turned advisor to the king, he never saw much of a future for himself. Politics are messy and violent, and he was simply determined to do as much concrete good as he possibly could before his time came. It didn't help that the one woman who'd been betrothed to him (at the previous king's bidding) had disappeared overnight. I wonder if he suspects the truth at all, or if he believes the story about her running off with another noble. Simon must've killed both the woman and that scapegoat noble to make the story seem plausible.
Regardless, his story is kind of devastating at this point, but we've finally learned how he moved so far up the ladder at court, and why he's never felt like he's a part of the nobility. A lot of things that I was questioning in earlier volumes started to fall into place in this one.
One piece that still doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me is Luka's kidnapping and how all that went down. Shouldn't he have been more heavily guarded, if Luis was sending him away specifically because he feared that outcome? And wouldn't it have been smarter to send him away in the middle of the night prior to the huge party that was announcing his departure to everyone? (Although with who the traitor(s) turned out to be, any plans would've been leaked anyway.)
The part I'm most worried about at this point is Gil. I still have hopes for him and Luis, but I can't quite figure out how that scene could've been staged or what the intent would be. Simon's treason has already been revealed to those who would believe Gil, and it's not like a former slave from another country would have any standing with the rest of the nobility. But I can't believe Luis would've actually killed him like that. So we'll see.
I will just have to wait very impatiently for the final volume.

Mira que está bien hecho este manga y toda la intriga política. Aunque sensei tardara los suyo en avanzar la historia, ha valido la pena solo por ver que todo encaja y que nada se sale de su sitio y es que cuando haces una intriga palaciega o lo atas todo bien o te sale un truño. Aquí todo está muy bien hilado. Y, en fin, Adam es the best boy desde el minuto uno y lo amo muchísimo. El final del tomo es un clif hanged de manual y esto ya se nos acaba. Deseando leer el desenlace.

Okay, the plot is now in full motion. The shadowy machinations of Joel’s enemies have come to fruition and our heroes have ended this volume woefully behind. Things are not looking good.
As for Adam and Joel. It’s clear Joel likes Adam, it’s just that he has been denying himself any sort of life in service of his country, that he’s a bit rusty at the whole having a relationship thing.
This was a great volume, and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Only one more volume to go.

Oh man, this one left on a cliff hanger and I think I know what happens. Adam No!!! I want to say that I have read reviews on this four volume manga set and they have said it is full tropes and familiar BL manga. I disagree. Show me a BL manga with plot and action like this one! There are not many. Most of them are just about showing manxman smut. I’m over that. We need more BL manga like Barbarities! Love it and I will pre ordering the 4th Vol so I can have it when it comes out!

Me gusta mucho este manga, todo el salseo palaciego hace que te metas de lleno en la historia. Además Adam es el más mejor del mundo, que personita más cute.
Y no hablemos del final del tomo, madre mía el plot twist, la que se ha liado, espero que en el siguiente tomo todo salga bien.

This story from Japan, set in a historical Europe type era just went up a level. The story is starting to pay off. The politics ratcheted up a level and holy crow, what a cliff hanger. I mean really.
Adam and the Lord had some sugar moments together. They are cute. There is even a little love story of King Chris with someone his age and it's also cute in an innocent way.
We see the villains and oh, they are so villainous. Maddening. The art continues to be great. It's easy to follow and the story is now much more fun.
I can't wait for the next volume so I can find out what happened. It seems no one was ready for what went down and it looks sort of bleak. I can't tell who is really on who's side. Plus, Lord Montegue is mellowing out a touch and he's much more fun that way.

Dopo la fine di questo terzo volume posso dire che questo fumetto mi sta piacendo sempre di più!
La trama è ormai entrata nel suo punto centrale e ho apprezzato un sacco alcuni colpi di scena che l'autrice ha ben organizzato all'interno di questo volume.
I protagonisti stanno diventando sempre più piacevoli e per niente scontati.
Ora non mi resta che concludere la saga e non vedo l'ora visto il finale aperto di questo volume!
Parte preferita? La bellissima conversazione tra Adam e il vescovo relativa a Joel!

Oh shit they got out played ... so hard .... Im kinda worried both JOel and Adam are just two pretty faces with not a forethought between them! But I love that so much !! And Joel being so selfless... but honestly Adam knows better !! I cannot wait to see what happens next !

In mancanza del volume 4 da commentare, scriverò ciò che penso della serie qui: avendo finito ora l'ultimo volume della saga posso confermare come Barbarities abbia una narrazione organica, con tanti intrighi politici e alcuni personaggi validi.
Purtroppo la carne al fuoco messa nei precedenti volumi risulta essere fin troppa per chiudere o sviscerare tutti gli spunti in solo 4 volumi, ma la postfazione dell'autrice lascia aperta una porta riguardo ad una possibile prosecuzione futura in eventuali spinoff.
I disegni sono stupendi, particolareggiati e stilosi e sicuramente penserò a recuperare altre opere dell'autrice, qualora venissero pubblicate in Italia.
