Whoa, this is the book that shook me to my core, and really helped me get a grip on my emotional trauma! As somebody who has been the big girl, the teen mom, the abuse child, it has really taken me a long time to put myself first.
Since 2020, I've been working hard via counseling and journaling, so when I was given an advanced readers copy of Soul Archaeology, it really became another tool for me to understand my feelings and allowed me to work on me.
I thought to myself when it first arrived, “I’ll just read through this in one night”, but I actually took my time, and used Sarah’s words more like a workbook. This has really allowed me to dig deep and learn not to self sabotage! Sarah’s positive words have really had an impact on me and I have learned a lot.
Thank you to BookSparks and Sarah Sapora for the advanced readers copy for my honest review. I highly recommend!! Make sure y’all pick this one up because you are worth it!!
Sarah Sapora’s book is a jam packed guide to self-love and personal growth based on her life experiences as she navigated trauma, bad relationships and self-dislike.
This book serves as a self help book full of thought provoking journalling questions and tasks, a guide to loving yourself, and a window into the life of someone who’s been through it all and learned that in the end, YOU are what matters. The author’s positivity radiates off the page and she has a way of making the reader feel seen, welcome and accepted.
This book is perfect for anyone ready to dig deep and do the work to find the self-love and acceptance we all deserve.

Sarah Sapora extends an invitation to excavate emotional hurts in the journey toward self-love and lasting transformation. In "Soul Archaeology," Sapora shares her struggles as a plus-size woman in a society that ascribes high value to thinness. Using her own experiences, Sapora offers a refreshing take on body positivity. Traditional self-help advice about self-improvement focuses on before and after. In contrast, Sapora’s approach emphasizes the radical evolution that can only come from deep internal work.
Self-awareness is required to embody self-love. Courage is required to stay accountable and committed to change. Sapora’s background as an educator is evident in her deliberate use of illustrations, charts, and tables to make key points stand out on the page. She invites readers to create a “Self-Love To-Do-List” to guide true and lasting transformation.
Sapora is clear about her audience: women who grew up during the ‘70s, ‘80s, and '90s who have internalized harmful messages about their weight and looks. She writes in an honest and engaging way that draws readers into messy, imperfect, vulnerable, and relatable stories. Self-love allows space for defining and reclaiming one’s ultimate self: growing, healing, and on the path to complete liberation.
Instantly, as soon as I picked up this book, it was like I could feel Sarah's positive vibes. It was like a warm hug reading this book. Although, this book is one that you actually don't want to just read straight through. It is more of a workbook for yourself. One that you read at your own pace so that you can reflect on what Sarah is sharing. In fact, you could read in any order or refer back too many times.
Spread throughout the book are sections called "Dig Site". This is where Sarah provides extra insight into each chapter and that topic that many times, I would shake my head and go "um ha" in agreement.
To sum up this book..."Self-love is the Foundation for Everything".
This book isn’t meant to be a quick read. It is meant to help you go deeper to find your Ultimate You it order to live a self-loving and authentic life. Sarah shares her personal life examples to illustrate steps to take and offers tools to use to live a more self-loving life. There are excellent journal prompts to help the reader identify areas for improvement. The exercises take time however it’s worth it!
This is a book I will come back to again and again. I’m a work in progress and this is a helpful resource to continue that work.
I have been doing self care a lot in the last few years. It is important to really unplug and let your self just be. I loved this book and how it really gives you guidance to really just be yourself and learn how to let things go and to just move on. This is one of those books that you just can't help but enjoy and learn from.
Five stars! I am so happy I came across this book on NetGalley. It's everything I've been searching for. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. Sarah writes her heart out and organizes her thoughts in an easy to read way. I plan to share this book with my audience and look forward to learning more about Sarah's work in the world through Instagram.
Soul Archaeology is a self-help book that truly speaks to those who have experienced body-image issues in their lifetime. Sarah's narrative is simple to understand and instantly relatable. I never thought about how my Mum's image of herself reflected on how I view myself. Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I really want to like this book but it feels a bit disorganized and unedited- a bit difficult for me to focus on. That being said, it's a book I hope to return to, because it's most likely really lovely, and I am the issue!
Honestly, one of the best books I have ever read about how to get to a place where it is possible to love yourself. It was uniquely vulnerable and hysterically funny. I wanted to read it again right away.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Goodreads for the complimentary copy. Practical tips on how to live life on your terms. The author is definitely passionate about this topic and it shows.
I felt like she wrote this book for me and about me. I related to everything. I laughed. I cried. And I got to work! Forever going to be grateful for this book.
Sarah poured her heart and soul into this book and it shows! I loved her message on the importance of finding the Ultimate You, not the you that you feel you need to be or that others would like better, but the true, authentic you underneath it all. She gives an effective guide to uncovering your true self and ways to become your Ultimate You; how to liberate yourself from others’ opinions and live your life fully, for you.
This book really opened my eyes to the things I do that go against who I want to be. I love that this a book I can come back to over and over as I evolve, to continuously work on myself.
Huge thank you to Booksparks for my spot on the Soul Archaeology Summer Pop Up !
This was a useful read. Part self-help, part memoir, this book offers a lot of great advice and practical exercises to help readers achieve their best and truest self.
I enjoyed reading it and liked that I could read a chapter every now and again.
Doing the HEART work... is hard work. But this book by Sarah Sapora is incredibly handy for digging deep into those hard topics to do the transformative work. I read this book faster than I wanted, and I know I missed so many wonderful things that I'll need to go back and revisit. I love how Sarah wove stories throughout this book that were relatable and a little funny, because they helped me name some of my less-than-pretty struggles.
This book is perfect for the women who are ready to grab their life by both hands, work through their trauma, abandonment, the really messy stuff, and come out the other side with intentional purpose in their lives.
I received an advanced copy of this book from BookSparks, and these are my honest thoughts.
Are you ready to show up for yourself? This book will help you get there. With humor, grace and directness Sarah helps you see the ways you self-abandon and self-sabotage. Sarah will hold your hand through the process and help you find a way forward. The book made me cry more then once, but also helped me find a way forward.
I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking to do the work, while crying and laughing along the way.
