I am so conflicted with this volume to the point I am not sure how to rate it.
So we get quite a few developments in this book, the new characters Shaula and Reid are interesting? So Shaula as a character is mysterious and is interesting lore wise too, however her actual personality I found to be quite annoying (this is opinion based though). And Reid is just a terrible person but I do understand that is due to him being a villain in a way.
The story and plot of things happening is actually pretty solid. While a tower arc isn't exactly new its done well and is very intriguing. The mysteries are great and at times even gripping. The structure is well done aswell.
The other characters have some good development mainly Julius, Emilia and even Ram.
So the twist at the end, while it is a good twist and of I hadn't been spoiled for it would have surprised me, was Subaru losing his memories. The whole memory loss thing is getting a little old in this series like it happens a little too much idk. And I am worried this is going to lead to a repeat character arc. I hope this isn't too long of a thing and he regains his memories in the next book or two otherwise I think it could feel a little repetitive and frustrating as character relationships are just wiped and all his development but I'll try and be open minded when reading the next books.
Overall this in intriguing and hasn't fully lost itself in its length yet and can still make for a good read. So I'll probably finish this arc and decide my thoughts overall afterwards.

"-I understand why you faced Reid even knowing you couldn't win.
That time... Subaru had been the same.
At the time, Subaru had known he could not win, but he had still challenged Julius. Even after getting knocked down countless times, even after getting pummeled, he had kept standing back up and chal- lenging him.
Because there had not been any other way for him to vent the fury that had welled up in his breast. And at that time, when it was all over, after his argument with Emilia ended things, and he had been alone, it had been painful. He had wanted to cry.
...So how could I leave him to take these stairs all by himself?"

Enjoyable
The dialog can be a bit tricky to follow, don't always know who's saying what... And sometimes the conversations feel like something might've been lost in translation. But the characters, the art, and the story are all great. When I finished the anime, I had to know what was next. These light novels don't disappoint.

Probably one of my favorite novels out of this whole light novel series. Unlike 21 a lot happened and the plot is actually moving forward.
I have noticed that more and more of Subarus thoughts are italicized than previously. Nothings wrong with that though.
So far it’s pretty interesting, I would definitely recommend!!

I thought this book was pretty good up until the WTF cliffhanger ending that was randomly added. Before that we were making our way up the Pleiades tower and Julius seemed to be getting some character development.

This volume definitely gives more questions than answers, with a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.
Shaula makes an interseting(?) Addition, again, she raises far more questions than answers them.
Interested to see where this arc is going

Great volume, definitely a bit of a slog in some places maybe the earlier portions but I feel like the pace picks up around Reid's introduction to where I enjoy whats going on a lot. Especially Julius' chapter, it was nice to see him be given focus like that and I hope he gets more
