Under the SOTUS system, where freshmen undergo hazing from their seniors, Arthit continues his harsh instruction as the head hazer of the Engineering Department. But Kongpob is starting to figure out that it's all just Arthit's awkward way of showing kindness, and he's charmed by it. Meanwhile, the hazers’ final task, "The Scramble for the Flag," is soon approaching…
i think i may have to go watch the series again 😭 this made me miss them so much.
"next time you need to cry, call me. i'll wipe your tears away." 💓
"to me arthit is someone more special than anyone else. that's all." ❤️🩹
the pink milk 😭😭😭😭 arthit falling asleep on kongpob's shoulder 😭😭 arthit immediately rushing to save kongpob when he goes under water 😭😭😭😭 how kongpob gives his gear to arthit 🥺🥺 and then arthit blushing crazy over it 😭😭😭😭
Arthit really needs to come to terms with his emotions already. He likes Kong. I just want to shove them together so they can kiss already and admit their feelings fully.
While I appreciate a good slow burn, I'm surprised there wasn't much progress on the relationship front in this volume. I guess the hazer/freshman dynamic had to conclude before they could move to anything else on equal footing, so I'm assuming, based on the gear handover in the final scenes, that we'll be moving steadily into the romance in the next (final?) volume.
3.5 stars mainly for the fact that I found a good amount of the capture the flag/gear ceremony confusing and/or skimmable, and those elements took up so much of this volume. It felt a bit too dense when I wanted to spend more time with the characters themselves.
Did love getting to see more of Arthit's true personality, though; it makes a lot of sense for the girls and Kongpob to be falling for him now that his sensitive side is showing through a bit more openly. It was also neat to see more of the veil behind the hazing being pulled back...so much of it was just an exhausting act put on by the overworked juniors, to ensure the freshman class bonded in their first few months at university.
Hazing aside, parts of that really did make me nostalgic for what was a great, and friend-filled, time in my life. The idea of the "ID families" is super cute, and a nice way to build communities that you don't have to search out on your own. I like that. Adult life could use more of that kind of thing.
I didn't find this volume quite as readable as the first one, but I'm hoping the third one will pick up the pace a little and dive back into Arthit and Kongpob getting to know each other more. Looking forward to their shopping date - which was a silly thing for Kongpob to use his big win on, so hopefully there'll be some real substance to those scenes.
There are a couple of things that the drama added, like a drinking scene, which I'm glad wasn't in the manga. Another thing that was different is that in the manga, they get two gears; one for being in the facility and another that goes with their major. Very interesting, but I can see why it wasn't part of the drama.
Another common thing in Thai dramas is the ID codes given to each student, and that ID is given out each year. Those with the upperclassmen will take care of the underclassmen with the same ID as them. In this series, it takes it a step further than I've seen and calls them ID families, and there's a scene where our main character, Kong, and his love interest, Arthit, are at a dinner celebrating their ID upperclassmen marrying each other. So joining the families. It's actually a cute concept.
Kong gives Arthit his gear, and Arthit's reaction when he learns what it means is adorable.
Love love love this. Originally saw the series on Netflix and have been wanting to read the novel that it’s based on. Unfortunately I still can find the novel in English so this graphic novel series is a perfect fix. If you love a slow burn enemies to lovers… this is perfection.
Phenomenal. I love how much of a slow burn Sunshine/Grumpy story this is. I picked the first copy up on a whim and have been watching the next book drop dates constantly. I love this series SO MUCH.
They're growing on me. I do wish more was happening. I don't mind the slow burn but there just isn't a lot of progress for the main characters or the plot. I believe volume 3 is the final volume so I am curious to see how the ending will play out.
