This is a low-key novel with a lot of heart that has left me eager to read more of Susan Dodd's work. Beautifully done.

It was okay; luckily short, so not a huge weight*, so to speak. Good description (& I dislike description). Main character is a bit of a weird character, a bit hard to relate to for modern progressive people...very much of the early 60's Kentucky, naive, but shows some limited growth. A friend forces that growth. Lots of *issues with food with the characters: cooking, eating, gorging, and gastric cancer.

Going to cross-pollinate this from nearest little library to one at my Food Coop. :)
