Since I have recently taken up Yoga and Acupuncture my Acupuncturist suggested that I read this book. I started yoga and acupuncture to help with my anxiety since I was going through a stressful time. I’m happy that I read this book and was able to apply some of the advice into my daily life. Since starting yoga and acupuncture a lot of good things have started to happen and I now feel in control of my anxiety. Great read!!

Been leafing through this one every time I go to the acupuncture clinic and it reads as a mash up of basic yoga poses mixed with more in-depth meridian methodology. The book's strength is in its dissolution of the Sino-Indian border that has long divided these two sciences, and Michael Gach draws out the connections in plain english: prana and qi are the same stuff; acupressure's meridian highways crass paths at ayurveda's seven chakra cloverleaves; and the West's medical lens of nerves, organs, bones, muscles and all that fun stuff falls in line with the East's anatomy as well, albeit sans spirituality. As a layperson (well, sort of—I am a yoga teacher) dipping my toe in the tepid waters of this book, it is interesting, though hardly the hotspring of inspiration I look for in a manual for self-healing. More likely that inspiration can come through the practice itself.

Just my opinion, but I think the book is only good for people who already know yoga. The book absolutely does not go into enough depth regarding proper position of the body, so it would be hard to say you are get the proper pressure on the right body parts. Buy Iyengar's "Light on Yoga" or his book "Path to Holistic Health" to use in conjunction.
Would have received 4 stars if had better posture descriptions.
