This is a story of my people, the Amish. And because so often others have treated them like creatures in a zoo, to be stared at for their peculiar ways and customs, I have tried, by the help of God, to set forth their life in the most natural way possible. Clara Bernice Miller
I enjoyed this book, and thought it was a realistic portrayal of the Amish, with the Gospel presented clearly. At times it was rather sad, but I won't give away any details.
This was a sentimental read. Given to my parents by my aunt Bea and uncle Don in 1962, I remembered seeing it on our book shelves growing up. When I rediscovered it last week in a box, I decided to read it first, and then send it to my cousin. It gives a glimpse into the lives of an Amish family.
