I loved the world-building in this "far future" Science Fiction; especially delightful was the utilization, of all possibilities, an environment suit enhanced with Artificial Intelligence (A.I)! What a scrumptious imaginative creation! I adored it because this literary device allowed the author to look at the human populace in an impartial second-person viewpoint, one which sometimes had to put in extra effort to parse human expressions, body language, and communication. So we readers are provided scope to step away and think ourselves.

I've been struggling to make the time to read in recent years, but found Envy impossible to put down!
I never thought I could identify so strongly with something that is essentially an item of clothing, but it's impossible not to love Envy as it experiences the world with a mixture of stubborn convictions and childlike curiosity.
The story is interwoven around a world that is stunningly original, with a planet, lifeforms, technology and culture that were full of surprises but always felt vibrant and authentic.
I unashamedly snort-laughed and ugly-cried while reading this.
An absolute must-read for any sci fi fans.

A really excellent piece of sci-fi writing. Dengate handles Envy’s thoughts and its interactions with its wearer with such care, and has produced a beautifully understated tale that explores some perennial sci-fi themes with penetrating pathos. The startlingly creative world-building is just wonderful throughout the book – there’s a sense of a galaxy with so much going on it. Can’t wait for more books.
