Their battlegrounds are the leafy suburbs of Elm Street and the idyllic Camp Crystal Lake, and no one with be spared their fury. With their mortal souls facing an eternity of torture, the last few innocent survivors must make a final stand and destroy both of these evils forever!
I'm not a huge fan of the movie and I liked the book version a lot more. I wish that I'd known about these books when they came out. I would have collected them all. Anyway, this is just what you'd expect, only with more internal dialog, and if you've seen the movie then you know just what to expect.
If somebody tell me that two horror characters will work first together then they work out of team. The Freddy will be the nighmare guy who makes people horrible nightmares and Jason the killer with with sword?? But this isn't the only thing it sound little funny and from other side very strange like for example exaggeratedly is when Jason can survive in the fire he is burn a lot of. It looks from one side impossible to survive but nothing he runs after his victims and kill them - It's strange isn't it? But he is scared from water and when we go little more further we will see that he is a child with problems with his classmates. With the students they hate him and they want to destroy him, so he comes here and start to kill people on Time Square because they are very bad. Jason has an interesting story that his mother has been killed by a woman and she was killed such way that she was without a head. But Freddy up to now leaves UNKNOWN and I still ask this question, who is Freddy why does he kill people. Always somebody kills for reason, for example I can start killing because of my past, but why he??? I don't see any evidence which can put me right place or left place! I think that the author of this book, must work litle more on this book because Freddy lefts as unknown. As Always most characters by Authors like Stephen King are showed, but here they aren't!
The funnies thing is that Jason is afraid of water, not from fire and Freddy from fire which is logical, but from water???? So how do you go and wash yourself when you are afraid of water? ... The Story is Great and Unique!
With most tie in film novels, they really are just a gabbling repeat of the scripts counterpart. However, Freddy Vs Jason, is in this respect, a tiny bit different. There are a few scenes added to the book that were either deleted scenes in the film or rarely, not in the film at all. Even without these little bits added in, the author adds flair to the film, with a dive deeper into the thoughts of the characters and the building of suspense in, for example, the death of Gibb by Jason instead of a very pissed off Freddy.
If you loved Freddy Vs Jason, you'll love the novel even more.
Movie tie-in Novelization by Stephen Hand Based on the screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark J. Swift The book based on the screenplay. Let me start by saying, I loved this movie. Now, may I add that reading this book was painful and confusing. Allow me to explain: The book is from the original screenplay which differs from the movie we all saw. The beginning is very different. But that’s about it. There’s this thing called POV (point of view), which allows the reader to follow the action and the character. This is hard to do when nearly every paragraph focuses on a someone different. Some writers like Phillip K. Dick can pull this off very well. Unfortunately, Stephen Hand, can not and it is this reason the book sucks. It is so hard to follow. Now I have that off my chest, let’s take a look at the story itself. In the DVD (movie), the visualization explains everything in seconds, like the boiler room or the construction going on at Camp Crystal Lake. In the movie, I just accepted it and enjoyed the movie. The main reason for buying this book was to see how a slasher was written and how all those movie props were explained. I also wanted to know what those things were called. For this the book excels. It explains the locations and action very well and the Nightmare on Elm Street series, making refs to part 4 (I could be wrong but after seeing so many Nightmares, they all kind of blend in). I also like learning how Freddy became Freddy via the black shadows that promised him eternal life. I also did not know that Freddy went to trail for the murders of little girls and was released. Were these scenes cut from the movies or is my memory just shot? In regards to Jason, I remembered everything mentioned, his past and his reason for existing. I did not know that he was a mommy’s boy. The book remains on Freddy and the kids most of the way through, using them to carry the story. One main point for lovers of this movie and a solid reason to buy and read the book, despite the POV changes, is that the ending explains exactly who wins the battle. The POV jumped like crazy here, one paragraph for Jason, one for Freddy, and our 4 heroes, mainly Will and Laura. I recommend getting the DVD and the book. Watch the movie on DVD, catch the alternate beginning and then read the book. I mentioned earlier how well, Stephen Hand described the locations, I feel I should clarify this. Most of the scenes are described well, while with some (especially the party at the cornfield), it is best to see the movie first, it helped a lot. This is the very first movie tie-in I have ever read and was worried that this is how these types of books are written. I am glad I was wrong. Read some of my other movie tie-in reviews. Over all rating out of 5: 3 Content, action, description: 4.5 Writing – style and prose: 2 Note: Worthwhile addition to any horror lovers bookshelf, standing next to the DVD.
Place your bets, it's Freddy vs Jason. Dream demons looking for the vilest, most evil twisted person ever made Freddy immortal. Jason killed with a dagger by his neice is sucked down to hell. Freddy grabs Jason in hell to give him strength, make the kids of Springwood fear again and make Freddy came alive in their dreams. Jason will bend a person backwards in a bed, cutting a person completely in half from the waist. Jason who has never slept even when he was chained to the bottom of the lake, buried in a grave or blown to pieces in a drip tray. Jason is out of control and can never be killed. Freddy will drag Jason into the dream world after being tranquilised. Jason will cut off both of Freddy's arms and Jason will have his neck and chest stabbed by his own machete that has killed hundreds but Jason will not die in the dream world. Freddy will be dragged into the real world and will be punched through his own chest with his severed arm with razor knifes and get his head cut off by Lori with Jason's machete. This is a speed induced ride through two of the biggest killers both out of control.
Once again, I owe it to the 80s Slasher Librarian on YouTube for making a fan audiobook of this novelization and putting it on YT for free for all fans to enjoy. As always, I highly recommend you check out his channel and support him, because this is important archival work he is doing for free.
Overall I enjoyed this novelization. It was largely a carbon copy of the film but there were some fun differences in here, and it was worth the read!
Two big, murderous demons who are very scary and create a lot of stress in people's minds. The plot gave me goosebumps. The chaos created by the two demons was unstoppable. One of them is too obsessive, and it's the internal squabbles that greatly weaken each other.
Other than a few misspelled words, I actually enjoyed the novel better than the movie. Maybe because I was not a fan of Ronny Yu's Japanese flavor he brought to it.
