In this screwball romantic comedy, Haruhi, a poor girl at a rich kids' school, is forced to repay an $80,000 debt by working for the school's swankiest, all-male club—as a boy! There, she discovers just how wealthy the six members are and how different the rich are from everybody else...
Mei, wanting Haruhi to face up to her feelings, leaves out a magazine that has a checklist for determining whether a girl is in love. As Haruhi reads through the checklist, she realizes that one host may have captured her heart without her even knowing...
Bisco Hatori is a Japanese manga artist. Bisco Hatori is a pseudonym; she states that the name has special meaning to her. She has worked for such magazines as LaLa. Her manga debut was A Moment of Romance in LaLa DX. Her first series was Millennium Snow. However, the comedy Ouran High School Host Club is her breakout hit.
How dare they leave literally all of this out of the anime ahhh disgraceful! One of my favourite volumes, the ski trip is really fun, the romantic tension...PLUS THE CLIFFHANGER! IT GETS ME EVERY TIME
Omg, I loved it. Everything I have wanted from this series is starting to happen. And the way it ended on a cliffhanger had me wanting to scream into my pillow. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.
How I choose my rating: 1* Didn't like it at all. These are rare as I usually just don't finish any book I dislike this much. 2** Didn't like it. Again usually DNF if I dislike it this much, but occasionally I feel it still has potential and I try to stick with it to the end. 3*** I liked it. It wasn't great but it was enjoyable enough. It is unlikely I'll ever reread it but I might finish the series if it is a part of one. 4**** I really liked this book. Maybe not a work of genius, but highly entertaining. I might reread this at some point, and I will almost always finish the series if part of one. 5***** I loved this book. I found little to no issues with it at all. I will probably reread this and possibly more than once. I will definitely finish the series if it's part of one.
Man, the romantic tension... GAAAAAAH! I kinda want to speed read through the rest of the series but I also want to take my time reading the ending for the first time! I'm in a real pinch here... But I think I will continue with reading one volume every day.
This volume was really good. The stories were great, I loved getting to know the Host Club members better and that ending had my heart beating in my throat! I'm scared for the next volume because I know what couple will probably get together (at some point)... and it's not my favourite host! But at the same time... I don't know if I actually want my favourite host together with Haruhi anyway... I might just like them better as friends... I kinda support all the characters in their relationship with Haruhi, whether that is as friends or as something more! This series makes me feel so many things!
As usual with this series, this volume brought me nothing but joy. I absolutely adore everything about this series. It's so funny and keeps me giggling.
Haruhi thinks she has a cold, but Mei gives her a teen magazine to help diagnose her real ailment - Haruhi is in love!
I love Mei being appalled at Haruhi's lack of awareness. She's a fun addition to the story.
Tamaki is worried about Haruhi and comes to check on her. I loved Haruhi's thought process as she comes to terms with her newly recognized feelings.
Haruhi has a hilarious idea for a theme at the Host Club. Meanwhile her class is planning their ski trip.
The Host Club decides to join but Hikaru asks Tamaki not to come and get in the way. Of course, this sends Hikaru into a frenzy of guilt. It doesn't help that he and Haruhi are sharing a room. This causes Hikaru to take some drastic steps, including confessing to Haruhi!
It was so sweet watching Hikrau and Tamaki go back and forth on their feelings. And hilarious that Haruhi has no clue what is going on.
I'm sad that the series is almost over! I'll definitely be revisiting this one again and again.
First off, I think Bisco did a fantastic job introducing Mei’s character late in the game but still making me like every scene she’s in. She’s become such a welcome addition to the cast!
There was so much in this volume to love. I loved how Haruhi can’t figure her feelings out on her own and thinks the symptoms of having a crush on someone means that she has a cold. She’s clueless. Love that.
It’s also super interesting the way Kaoru is acting with the whole Tamaki, Hikaru, and Haruhi thing we’ve got going on. He removed himself from the “Haruhi’s boyfriend” running, and he isn’t necessarily taking sides between Tamaki and Hikaru, but he tells everyone not to give Haruhi and Tamaki hints about their feelings in the hopes that Hikaru might still have a chance.
I adore Hikaru and how he tries to control his anger and his feelings. The ski trip was a cool way to get some of the Host Club members away from others. We’ll have to see how the whole thing pans out in the next volume.
The romantic plots are at the forefront in this volume. Pretty interesting, but less cute moments here aside from the club freaking out about Haruhi being sick. I'm curious where it goes from here after the last scene at the ski resort.
Haruhi is dealing with feelings she can't comprehend, much to Mei's ire. So when Haruhi tries to talk to her a little, she purposely makes her read a magazine that features a "how to know you're in love" quiz (basically, those are my words, not the books). This quiz makes Haruhi realizes that she might actually be falling for the wildly immature Tamaki. This obviously drives her nuts and makes her act strangely around him, which make him act more idiotic than usual. She throws herself in the Host club activities, trying to make up for what she views as her previous coasting attitude.
Tamaki is still trying to please his family (particularly his grandmother). Hikaru confesses his feelings for Haruhi to Tamaki and tells him he doesn't want him to go on the ski trip because he wants a shot as Haruhi alone without him confusing Haruhi's feelings. Tamaki decides not to go and Hikaru somehow ends up being stuck as roommate for Haruhi.
Fun fun fun! Kyoya always provides a deeply thought theory on what the heck Tamaki's problem is with being unable to realize he's in love with Haruhi!
In Conclusion
This volumes is a little more heavy than usual. That said, it's still fluff that you should read! This time around we get to see some character growth from Hahuri!
I guess this series was always heading to where it is now, but I can't help it: I liked it a lot better when it was just light-hearted shenanigans between friends. All the romantic and family drama between members of the host club is just not up my alley.
Another thing I didn't like so much: I don't like Tamaki as a character, and I definitely don't like him as a serious love interest for Haruhi. Now from what I can tell, fans of this series are strongly opinionated either for or against Tamaki, and I am whole-heartedly, enthusiastically against. To me he's one of those characters who are annoying to the point of exhaustion. But I say that to explain why I didn't care for this volume as much - it's hard for me to get through the ones that focus on him.
I love OHSHC for the group shenanigans, but this volume was all about Hikaru and Tamaki's feelings for Haruhi. Yawn. No wonder the anime stopped before this point.

kaoru help hikaru's to stop his anger management also love his black hair suit him. It seems like haruhi falls in love with tamaki n avoid him even thought she never realized it yet. Everytime tamaki with haruhi, she got red blushed over her face. Hikaru was mad n told tamaki never go to trip with them because of his(hikaru) feelings for haruhi but still it went to far n I though hikaru already changed his ways. Hitachin's twin brothers with haruhi moment❤️ especially hikaruXharuhi moment ❤️. Haruhi told hikaru "you're my friend" 😂it reminds me miraculous ladybug reference. Looks like tamaki is on the way to the skii resort n heard from kyoya about haruhi skii incident. Mori got his scenes in some parts❤️( skii with honey senpai. Extra scenes with chicken & racoons fighting each other over Mori & Mori's fav Gundam model but destroyed by chicken & racoons until they're fall asleep in the end.

This was super fun and exactly what the series needed! The plot is plotting! The characters are having fun and feeling emotional! It’s not just a comedy, now it’s a ROMANCE and I’m way more invested at this point.
Damn that cliff hanger at the end hits hard. There is so so so much happening. I've decided to go back to simply simping for Mori again in order to protect myself from the emotional damage.
No solo físicamente. Amo demasiado su estupidez. Aunque realmente está justificada esa ceguera y eso me parte el kokoro. Ese final, GRITÉ
