Love, love, loved it!

Dealing with how the past has a way of creeping up on you. Dealing with lies, accusations, secrets, hurt, love and revenge. That’s a lot to deal with. It is also a story about learning to live again and daring to love. It's written with intensity and depth. It has a bit of everything, written in a nice pace and with well-formed characters. The blossoming love was absolutely gripping. An excellent story that pulls you in from the start.

The difference between revenge and justice... I am glad both were scripted here because Dee suffered too much just to forgive and forget. This has to be some of the early works by Gun because I have read her latest and they were definitely refined. This was a very good book, I was wired.

Gentle, lovely read. I liked seeing both characters' growth and this book just made me really happy. It's the second I've read by this author and makes me excited to read the rest of her backlist.

Vague spoilers below.

Can't think of anything I liked about this one. The mysterious 'scandal' that drives the book is ridiculous, as is the eventual relatively quick resolution. Honestly, Deanna deserved what she got for being so gutless. It all could have been resolved years prior if she'd bothered to talk to her family about it, and that she then befriends the person who started the mess and everyone else also immediately forgives her also seemed a step too far. Faythe was also too perfect to be true. Seriously, between the relatively boring characters, the family dramas, and the overdrawn scandal plot the book was just boring. Struggled to finish it, certainly won't re-read it.

Faythe Hamilton, a TV morning show personality, takes a break at her aunts lakeside cabin in Vermont. While there she befriends a neighbor Deanna Moore, a successful illustrator. There is a hinted at scandal about Deanna's past. This was a mix for me. The scandal was easy to figure out and I liked how Faythe helped resolved things. I liked the realistic depiction of an autistic sister who was Deanna's focus. But some of the other stuff seemed contrived just for the story. I liked reading it but it wasn't memorable.

I love Gun Brooke's books so much, Soul Unique being my favorite, but this one was just not it.

I really tried to go with the flow but it got boring and different characters started popping outta nowhere.
I loved Faith but I felt she could have done with a more intriguing, mysterious character who was not Deanna. I tried so hard to like D cos her intro into the book was pretty badass and her feelings towards Faith showed a really vulnerable side to her (Something Gun Brooke is very good at portraying) but god was her blame game strong! I get that she's been through a whole lot and all those are walls she uses to protect herself but you can't expect Faith or anyone that matters to trust you when you're more than ready to jump to conclusions (that's basically doing what the town people did to you).

That said, I loved their little kisses and makeouts (their sex talk was extremely cringey though) and the witty banter they sometimes engaged in was cute.
Overall it was an OK book.

Awesome read

Gun Brooke’s novels are fun yet believable. She does a great job of character and plot development. September Canvas is one of the best!

Good book... Quick and easy read. Good story with a predictable but decent twist. If you're looking for a quick beach read, this is a good book to start.
