A decade ago, Clark Winston nearly had a nervous breakdown after the man of her dreams, Devin Patterson, left her to marry another woman. Soon after, her best friend, the mother of her niece, died, leaving Clark sole custodian of the 10-year-old. Knowing she had to pull herself together, she sought help at a mental health clinic run by an old college friend, Dr. Kenneth Winston. The attraction was instant, and they proved to be a perfect match. Now 10 years later, the past is behind her and she has a perfect career and family at hand. But then, in the blink of an eye, Devin reappears and a tumultuous affair ensues. Clark will now have to make the most important decision of her life -choose the man who broke her heart or the one who fixed it.
Candice Dow is a native of Baltimore, MD and graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Johns Hopkins University. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as a Senior Software Engineer. It was her lifelong dream to write a novel and after toying with the idea for over five years, Candice made a commitment to herself to finish, Caught in the Mix; a story she had sporadically worked on.
Shortly after, Candice retained a literary agent and within two months was offered a two-book deal from Kensington Publishing. In 2005, she stepped out on faith and quit her six-figure job, one month prior to the release of her debut novel, Caught in the Mix. In her subsequent novels, Ain’t No Sunshine, A Hire Love and Tappin’ On Thirty, Candice continues to tackle relatable topics and create intriguing characters with stories that speak to the soul.
Candice currently resides in Maryland and is at work on her next novel. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Xi Omega Chapter in Baltimore. Candice is a frequent traveler and loves to analyze love, life, and relationships, and seeks to expose the answers in works of fiction.
Devin Patterson and Taylor Jabowski, after a short courtship, jumped the broom. While they were still really in the getting-to-know-you phase, they are now knee-deep in the growing- into-the-marriage-and-learning-to-adjust-to-the-"we"-of-things as Devin shares his political aspirations. Despite how hard he campaigns, or what others believe, the person that Devin needs to support him the most, just may not be able to handle the pressure.
Clark Anderson-Winston and her husband, Kenneth have been married seven years. They've raised two children, his biological daughter and her niece, and they desperately want to bring a child into the world of their own. After countless attempts and spending all of their savings, they've thus far been unsuccessful. When frustration sets in, the wedded bliss may have hit a major road block.
LOVE MY PEOPLE is hosting a girl empowerment seminar. Who knew that would be the reunion of Devin and Clark? After all, it's been ten long years, a child and two marriages between them. Now with so much at stake for both of them, will Devin and Clark be able to finally let the past be the past? Or is this more than either of them could've ever wished for?
FINALLY! I've been willing Candice Dow to finish this story and she finally has. Call me what you will, but I'm a sucker when it comes to the power of love. While I am strictly against adultery, I can't help but root for REAL LOVE! As always, I loved the characters, the storyline, and the way in which you still connected to the characters despite the time that has passed. I was completely FEELIN' THE VIBE and recommend all of Candice's books to readers alike.
Nine years have passed since Clark and Devin went their separate ways. They say you never forget your first love, and those words couldn't ring more true for this duo. Devin has married, had a child, divorced and remarried, yet a part of him still belongs to Clark. Clark has also married and is attempting to start a family, but Devin is never really far from her mind and heart.
Life sees fit to cross their paths again. Admittedly, on both parts, their feelings for each other are still very much alive. Will they risk it all - their mates, jobs, all that they've worked for and life as they know it - to be together?
With plenty of drama and raw emotions, Clark and Devin are back! This is a reunion/sequel that I have been waiting for. I was too excited when I found out about FEELIN' THE VIBE, having enjoyed both Caught In The Mix and Tappin' On Thirty.
FEELIN' THE VIBE is a captivating and enjoyable read. Candice Dow is an author I'd easily recommend to others.
Feelin' the Vibe is my first Candice Dow novel. And after reading it, I'm not sure if I liked the book... It didn't seem like there was a whole lot of redeemable characteristics in the characters. Devin wants what he wants, and that's it. Clark commits adultery (& Devin too, since it's not something you can do solo). And to use love as an excuse just seems to cheapen love, to me...
I have no complaints about the writing though. It effortlessly takes you through events and Devin & Clark's ups and downs. If you're a fan of the more romantic side of things, you'll like the HEA. If you're a fan of characters finding their true selves and going after it, you'll like the story. So, I guess what I really mean is, I must've liked enough of the book, character behavior notwithstanding, to know that some of you will, too.
This book was such a roller coaster ride, but you couldn't help but to root for Devin & Clark no matter how wrong it was. I just love how everything turned out how it should have in the end. Taylor definitely showed a huge level of maturity that I didn't expect from her at all. It was nice to see her finally support Devin even though he did her wrong. After all Clark had been through from the first book 075821054X Caught In The Mix she deserved her happy ending and she got it. Devin was always a good man, but just had so many hoops that he always had to jump through, but it seems like he finally got things right. I hope Candice Dow continues this series, because I would love to read how Clark & Devin's life progresses from here.
I enjoyed reading this book, but I hated the ending. I was glad that the author's writing skills have improved and this book was well written, much better than previous works by the author. The end was a bit rushed and tooo happily ever after.
This is the sequel to Caught In the Mix. Devin and Clark were college sweethearts, who had an intense love connection that got torn apart by life. Ten years later their paths cross again, and their feelings for each other are still combustible. Now they are both married and the stakes are extremely high, but is the connection worth the risk.
Devin is running for Congress and Clark owns a successful Outreach center for girls with her husband Kenneth. In Devin and Clark's case the heart wants what the heart wants an no matter how they try, the can't seem to stay away from each other.
The stuff really hits the fan when Clark gets news that her husband may not be the man she thought he was. Clark is determine to stick by Kenneth and prove his innocence, but it gets messy when its leaked that she and Devin have been having an affair. With Devin's reputation on the line and Clark's world crumbling around her feet, it looks like maybe they weren't destine for each other after all.
This is a prime example of the heart wanting what the heart wants no matter how long it takes. Just goes to show you can listen to your heart and be guide to your destiny or listen to your brain (rationalize what's best and make a lot of mistakes). This story grab me from page one and did not let go until I finished the story, meaning I didn't put this book down until I finished it. I truly enjoyed and recommend this book. In the sea of mediocre stories available right now, this one is definitely not mediocre and worth reading.
This book reads like a "he said", "she said" - as each chapter went back and forth, i.e.Chapter 1 "He said", Chapter 2 "She said", chapter 3 "He said", etc. all the way till the end of the book.
The story- boy had girl, boy loses girl, both marry others, then years and children later, find each other and want to recapture their lost love. They each go through moral struggles to do whats right while keeping an eye out for saving their relationship, but in the end circumstances and a scandal pave the way for them to be together.
Candice Dow is a good writer, but I would like to see her follow the normal pattern of a book and not go back and forth. She has a deep understanding of her characters and presents them in an unashamed way. However, the sexual encounters are unnecessarily explicit and do nothing to enhance the story.
This book is OK, but I would not glowingly recommend it to my friends.
I won this book on FirstReads (in exchange for an honest review) and finally made it far enough down the line to read it. I was not pleased. I found the characters to be idiotic and amoral, and the sex scenes were gratuitous and crude. The ending wrapped up too cleanly to be believable and the title came from a series of events that were mentioned three times. The only character that I had any sympathy for had all of the intelligent responses to her feelings, and then ignored them until someone else told her not to. She was much too prone to letting other people tell her how to think and make her decisions for her. And she was the most tolerable character in the book. However, if you're looking for written pornography and a happy ending, this book is just what you need.
I received a free copy through FirstReads in exchange for an honest review.

I completed this book today. It took me about five days to complete it. I was not happy with it from the very first chapter. The chapters bounce back and forth between several characters in the beginning (the story being told by that character) and ends up with the chapters bouncing between the two main characters. The first chapter is a total loss as an introduction and I wasn't crazy about what was going on in the rest of the chapters. I'm at a total loss to say anything good about this book. I don't know what I was supposed to learn from this book. Received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
Devin and Clark were each others first love. You know what they say about never getting over your first love...that's what this story is all about. While life happened all around them and they took flight without closure but each never really far from the others mind. Marriages, births, politics, public service... nothing prevents the heart from wanting what it wants. Plans are made along with promises. When its all said and done they both realize the possibility that you don't always get your happily ever after.
This book was such an emotional read for me. I was reading to escape the heartache of infertility. Then Part of the storyline includes infertility and IVF. I put the book down more than once, but am so happy the I continued reading. Candice Dow has a way of creating characters that you want to root for regardless of the situation. She has a true talent.
It was a good read I kept going back to the part when Clark was drunk and she kept texting Devin. With Did you ever really love me? Next: I'm sick without you. Next: It's just not fair that we never had our time. The politics the desire for it, and the committment issues were interesting.
A story of first love, lost love, and . . . told alternatively in the voices of the two main characters (Clark & Devin). Predictable, light read that I enjoyed -- the villians had to be to justify . . .
