Fatal Vendetta

Rate this book
Trapped in a deadly game, Addison Barlow has no choice but to play by her tormentor’s rules.

Following a terrifying home invasion, Addison’s life is controlled by fear. As the threats rise, she flees to a friend’s secluded cabin by Lake Tahoe. But when the woman next door disappears, Addie worries she just escaped one bad situation for another.

Vanishing Ranch operative and former Homeland Security agent Hayes Barlow hasn’t given up hope that he and his estranged wife will reconcile. When he receives a frantic phone call from her, he jumps at the opportunity to help. He prays he can not only keep her safe but also win her back.

Addie and Hayes quickly realize that something sinister is lurking beneath the surface of the idyllic setting surrounding the cabin. Disturbing text messages, vandalism, and haunting secrets keep them on edge.

Hayes must not only discover the truth about what’s going on with Addie but also about the deadly incidents happening around them. If he doesn’t . . . he could risk losing Addie forever.

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

How does Christy Barritt continue to come up with new and exciting plots to enthrall her readers? This powerful drama sends Hayes Barlow from Vanishing Ranch to help out his estranged wife, Addie. She thought she would get away from all the drama and danger in her life with an escape to Lake Tahoe, but instead she found more trouble and threats on her life and on Hayes’s. These two tormented characters must work together to find the truth to what is going on by the lake and in her life. The action-packed drama will grip your heart and mind and keep you racing through this wild adventure. I hope we will hear more from Vanishing Ranch. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

This story was perhaps my least favorite in the series since Addison’s defining decisions struck me as weak. But that is just me. In all, once I accepted that her background left her susceptible to manipulation, I granted her more grace to allow her fear to lead her to make the decisions she did.

As with the other books in this series, though a bit formulaic, I appreciate the way Christy Barritt creates a story where action drives the plot forward without sacrificing the underlying romance. I continue to enjoy the series and recommend it for anyone looking for clean, contemporary romance suspense with Christian themes.

What would you do to protect the one you love? Addie leaves her husband to protect him but then has to ask for his help when she is afraid another person is in trouble. As Addie and Hayes try to figure out what is going on, Hayes is also trying to determine why Addie left him. This story has so many twists, turns and different possibilities that you may be kept guessing until the very end! This is a stand alone read but it is also a great addition to the Vanishing Ranch series. I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.

I had a BETA copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Addie Barlow is being threatened and goes to a friend’s cabin where she overhears neighbors fighting and thinks the husband may be harming his wife. She calls her estranged husband, Hayes for assistance. As things happen they seem to be in increasing danger from several areas and they are now stranded at the remote cabin. A great addition to this series. Christy Barritt does a great job with both the plot and suspense in this book. Definitely a must read.

Married to Danger

Hayes and Addie are married. Until the past few months, Hayes thought that marriage was happy. It was for him at least, that was until Addie told him to get out. She no longer loved him. Now she’s in danger and the only person she can ca is her estranged husband. When he arrives, what will he find? Can he protect his heart while he protects her, or will he fail at one or the other? Can she keep her secret in order to keep Hayes alive, or will she lose everything? Edge-of-your-seat reading here. Good book!

Estranged husband and wife, Addison and Hayes, are thrown together out of danger and necessity. Knowing she shouldn't put Hayes back into the line of fire, Addison is desperate and scared. She knows Hayes will come to the rescue and he sees this as a chance to reunite -- if they live long enough. I am thoroughly enjoying the Vanishing Ranch Series, and this one lives up to the rest. Great mystery and suspense, and a couple working through the troubles of the past. Great read.

My thoughts: FATAL VENDETTA may be part of the ongoing Vanishing Ranch series but it easily stands alone. Addie is being targeted by an invisible somebody who is threatening to kill her estranged husband. Ms. Barritt is a prolific author who writes a quick read that you can't put down. I never guessed the ending. If you like romantic suspense you will love FATAL VENDETTA or any of the other books in this series. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

Lots of action, twists and turns propel the latest case for Vanishing Ranch newbie Hayes. His estranged wife is in trouble and desperately needs help. Her secrets have hurt them for far too long.

Be prepared to read this through as it's difficult to put down.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

You receive a note that tells you to leave your husband or he will die. If you tell him you both would die. Now how can you leave him when you love him? You tell him you don’t love him and never had, move out. Now the mystery begins. Another Great Mystery by Christy Barritt. Start reading now!!!

Hayes and Addie

Hayes is gobsmacked when Addie tells him to leave & files for divorce. He didn't know she was being threatened, and the threat was not to her but to Hayes. She was trying to protect him. A situation brings them together and they must fight multiple forces. Christy Barritt can really twist a plot!

EEK! And hold on!

Yikes! Fatal Vendetta takes Hayes away from Vanishing Ranch to rescue his about-to-be-ex-wife. Word of warning: don’t start this book unless you can read all of the way through. Trust me-you won’t be able to put it down until everyone is safely back home and all of the mysteries solved! Excellent, EXCELLENT book!

this one was heart pounding

I had a love, hate relationship with this book. There was so much suspense and intrigue that one minute I couldn’t wait to see what happens next to I have to stop reading this for a while. It was like going out in the dark to see what that noise was and knowing the whole time that it was a bad decision. I promise you will love this book.

Excellent Read

The characters were believable, the suspense and drama were exciting. There were times I couldn’t stop reading because of the mysterious occurrences. To read about a deep, passionate love between a honest, intelligent, intuitive man and his emotionally scarred, but recovering wife, was refreshing and uplifting. Enjoy your read!

Secrets can be death to any relationship

And Addie had some huge ones. Loved her husband's faithfulness, ability to think on his feet and his heart for justice. Couldn't really appreciate Addie as don't understand how anyone could consider keeping secrets from a spouse a way to protect them so book was disappointing to me in that way. Otherwise a good book.

interesting story , so five stars

It’s definitely a page turner. But as another published author, I see a few problems. Question: Addie’s cabin had wired Internet, so even though there was no cell coverage, why couldn’t an email have gotten through for help? E-mail!
Other writer issues, but still a good story. Not worth downgrading from five stars.

Vanishing ranch heals again

Addie has had a rough life, so rough she didn't realize what she had with Hayes. Will she ever? Can she trust him? Cab he trust her after the insecurities she has shown? With God anything is possible!

Another good read by Christy. One of my favorite authors. Books are clean reads with no sex scenes. Can't wait for the next Vanishing Ranch book.
