All’s fair in love and war… unless Hollywood is your battleground, and then the only thing you can count on is a plot twist.
I now know three things for certain:
The man I fell for is our film’s director.
His real name is Nick Stavros.
And.
He’s a liar.
What I don’t know is how I’m going to work with him.
But if I want to win the Starlight Future Filmmakers Competition—and the opportunities that come with it— I have no choice but to act like my holiday crush didn’t crush my heart.
So, I call a truce and give him a second chance… in the friend zone. I only tolerate our close proximity and forced alliance to win. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
If this whole screenwriting thing doesn’t work out, I just might have a career in acting; because pretending like I don’t want to be more than friends is an award-worthy performance.
This is book 3 (out of 5) in the Falling for the Liar Series that follows Sarah and Nick over the course of one year through major holidays as they fall in love.
Two authors. Two countries. One obsession with love stories.
Willa Drew’s contemporary slow-burn romances are full of feels, playful banter, and high-stakes emotions. Their globetrotting characters fight for love as they discover who they are and where they belong.
Willa, a proud Canadian and devoted Leafs hockey fan, and Drew, a Russian-American with a lifelong love of languages, always search for the perfect words to capture heartbreak and connection.
Their books guarantee swoon-worthy kisses and happily ever afters.

I received an ARC of this book and these are my own opinions.
It was great to hang out with Sarah and Nick again. To have them finally be together was fab! Working on their film with their friends (nicely fleshed out by the way) gave this story body- I really felt the atmosphere.
If you haven’t, read books 1 & 2 of this series before reading this one!
Uhhhh best one in the series for sure!!!! I loved reading this ARC so much and hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I did.
Willa Drew - I love this one. You’re both amazing writers and I cannot wait for more from you! P.S. Don’t hurt Nick and Sarah too much.
!!! SPOILERS BELOW !!!
Sarah and Nick finally got to talk. They needed a good honest conversation with each other to be able to have the relationship with each other that they both wanted. I think they’re super cute together and they’ve grown a lot in the first three books of their series. Do I think it was wrong for Nick to withhold information from Sarah? Yeah. But did it work out in the end? Yeah... I’m so happy that Nick and Sarah are together.
The talk of the wool hat from Mémère … I wanted to cry.

A satisfying conclusion to the novella trio! Finally Nick and Sarah can get past the past, stop with the miscommunications, and express their love, friendship, and support for each other. Thank you to the authors for my ARC; all opinions are mine.
DISCLAIMER: Received an ARC for Crushes, Friends, & Us—the third installment of the Falling for the Liar series. These are my own opinions.
Book 3 feels like completing a marathon. If each installment of the story so far has represented elements of a movie, Book 1 is the meet-cute. Book 2, the harried search for the love interest. But Book 3 is the complication. It’s a complex journey to the resolution, but Crushes, Friends, & Us accomplishes a lot in very little space.
If you liked Book 1 and 2 of the series, this one surely delivers. It’s everything you could hope for and more… with room left for more in future installments!
A wee bit spoilery below… Nick and Sarah continue their love story and readers get a chance to watch the young couple figure out who they are so that they can figure out how and/or why they should be together. The most satisfying part of this series so far has been the juxtaposition of perspectives and seeing how each character views themselves and others. These insights build tension and add to the emotional complexity of Nick and Sarah’s relationship, as well as their personal struggles and past traumas. Book 3 does an excellent job of showing the inherent vulnerability required when finding love—and how sometimes we simply have to choose to move forward in life.

This is the third part in a single love story told in a serial style over several books set on holidays throughout one year. The first two parts to this story were short, but here we get quite a bit more. I enjoyed the activity in this story as we finally get to really experience Sarah and Nick together, although there is still emotional separation built up from the activities of the previous instalment, as well as Nick’s deception in the first book. In spite of this, they got to know each other better as they were forced to spend a significant amount of time together working on their film for the competition. This instalment of the story offered several interesting secondary characters that I enjoyed. I was already attached to Sarah and Nick, but it was great to get to know them even better. I like that Sarah is older than Nick (but not too much). It’s a fun twist. The first two parts of the series were necessary to begin the story and build it, but this part is the real meat of the story (for now), and I really liked it. Lots of great moments, and the film competition is a great backdrop. I’m looking forward to the rest of the story…I just have to be patient for them to be released. In this portion of the story there is no intimacy, but there is innuendo and a fairly frequent amount of significant harsh language.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
This review is spoiler free.
One of the things I have loved most about this series so far is how the novella sized installments give me a sense of the old days when I would wait impatiently for the next installment to my favorite fanfic. As torturous as it is, being fed these tidbits of a much bigger story is keeping me engaged in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
Crushes, Friends, and Us is the third novella in Sarah and Nick’s story, Falling for the Liar, and boy this is when things start to get complicated. After meeting in book one, and all the gut wrenching, stress inducing, and readers’ frustrated screams of book two’s missed connections, book three finally gives us some of that delicious on page tension we’ve been craving.
Conflicts come to a head when lies are revealed, and at last some truths get told.
We learned a bit more about both of their pasts (Nick, you naughty boy) and get a little more familiar with some of our favorite (Ryan <3) supporting cast.
Willa’s writing is approachable, their characters loveable, and their stories are filled with all the delicious drama a reader could crave in a sweet romance.
Nick and Sarah have finally reunited for the Starlight Future Filmmakers competition, and they are on the same team to make a short film. When Nick has to introduce himself to the auditorium, Sarah finally finds out his real name. Sarah is immediately disappointed on him lying, understandably, and in order to remain civil with her new director, she agrees to be friends. Nick slowly, but surely, shows his true colors and tells Sarah the truth about everything. Does she forgive him? Will they ever become more than friends?
I love how hard-working and dedicated both Nick and Sarah are with their work. You can tell they’re super passionate about being filmmakers. Meeting all of the side characters was a ton of fun! I hope we get to see more of them in the next book. I truly enjoyed reading this book, and was a great addition to the series. I’m so excited to see where Nick and Sarah’s story goes.
Thank you SO much to Willa Drew for the ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own as I’m leaving a review voluntarily.
My friends. Don’t walk. RUN to pick up this newest installment in the Falling for the Liar series by Willa Drew.
In book 3, we find Sarah and Nick reunited and what little illusion is left of their Christmas Day romance is quickly shattered. Forced to work together on a project that could impact their careers as filmmakers, will they be able to put their pasts behind them for the sake of the movie?
Sarah and Nick have an undeniable connection from book 1 and this only continues the trend. Their mutual respect of each others talent and opinions helps shape a friendship outside of their romantic interests.
I don’t think most romance readers would refer to this series as spicy, but we are edging towards more steam as we continue and I’m here for it.
This is such a fun addition to Nick and Sarah’s story and I already can’t wait for book 4!
*Thank you to the lovely ladies behind Willa Drew for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
Epic ! Having followed the series from the beginning I’m invested and found this compelling reading too . A great beach read to get lost in for a few hours…, Nick and Sarah narrate their journey, and along with supporting characters their traits are well described . The chemistry sparks off them you’d be blind to miss it but the two are taking their merry time with misunderstandings from the start…. Nick and Sarah are working together to get a media project cast and filmed he’s technically her boss as director for the Starlight Future Filmmaker’s competition. To get through the torment to her ultimate prize …. Winning the competition. She must pretend Nick ( now she knows his real name) didn’t crush her heart . Nick tries to get close to Sarah but he’s shot down each try he wants to explain , make amends but he’s friend zoned…. A slow burn romance that leads nicely to book 4.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Crushes, Friends and Us is the continuation of Nick and Sarah's story.
Both Nick and Sarah found a connection when he was in LA around Christmas, fate brough the close together around Valentines, only to have lies, misunderstandings and uncertainty keep them apart.
Is it fate playing with them, or is just the wrong time. Now back in LA for the Starlight Future Filmmakers Competition, Nick and Sarah are on the same team - he is the director, she is the screenwriter. All would be good, but quickly unravels when Sarah finds out that Nick gave a false name to her.
Nick and Sarah's journey takes them creating the film, while struggling with their feelings for each other. She wants to give her heart but the lie and secrets keep holding her back.
Great continuation of their story.

Yes, just yes. Buy the book. Read the book. Love the book. Tell your friends about it.
The story continues with Nick and Sarah over the 4th of July holiday! We got to see them fall over Christmas break, fall out over Valentines Day and now we get to witness them falling back together over another holiday. Is it fate?
Meet new characters and go on a new adventure as Sarah and Nick meet new friends, work towards their dreams and begin to overcome their differences!
I’m already waiting patiently for book 4 in the series to see what comes next. Are there more secrets that Nick is keeping? Does Sarah forgive and forget the lies that Shawn, or Nick, told her? Do they fall back together? Or do they part ways after their filming venture?
As always, Willa Drew came up with an amazing storyline to go with this series. It's the third novella for the Falling For the Liar series and I was reeled in from start to finish. As always, it was a fast-paced read.
It's amazing to get to see how much can be packed into 250 pages and being able to get tidbits is such a refreshing change when it comes to novellas. I am in love with the character development within this book and being able to see more of the side characters getting more of the spotlight.
I am excited to see what's next in store for Nick and Sarah. This is a great slow-burn romance with secrets revealed, more lies, and all the feels. Definitely worth the read.
I’ve said it before…I love this story and I LOVE these characters. Nick and Sarah are so relatable, and their love story is written over a year in 5 novellas, the 3rd of which is out now!
Somehow, every story Willa Drew writes is more compelling and engaging than the last, and with deep, interwoven characters like these you will not regret it!
I especially loved seeing Wil and El have a part in this story; Willa Drew’s wonderful rockstar characters from another book, “We Blend”. I really enjoy seeing all the different characters interact, and it’s done so effortlessly!
ARC Review for Crushes, Friends & Us by Willa Drew ✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This sweet tale of Nick and Sarah had me hooked right from the beginning, the slow burn romance along with the witty humour and spectacular character development delivered an absolutely perfect overall package. I loved that even though it was a shorter novel than what I am used to, there was none of that instalove that makes me want to barf, Sarah makes Nick work for his place in her life and I found myself getting attached to both of them and cheering both of them on as they achieved their goals and found themselves growing closer to one another.
This is the book where everything come to a head. Both Nick and Sarah and accepted into the same film program that could skyrocket their career. They’re also selected to work on the same team together.
This book has a really cool behind the scenes film making element to it that I appreciated. It has amazing supporting characters that I loved! It takes you through a lot of emotional ups and downs. The loyalty of Sarah’s friends is lovely to see and the way that Nick grows to love himself throughout this book is beautiful.
Nick Stavros is the director for the Starlight Future Filmmaker’s competition, so he and Sarah Côté/Connor will have to work together if she has any hope of winning, and she is not sure how she will ever be able to do that. Pretending he didn’t break her heart will require epic acting ability. Secrets are revealed, lies ripped open, but will they accept a second chance to fix their relationship? Will they admit that they are both still in love? Or will she keep him in the friend zone forever?
I think the beautiful thing about this book and series is the butterflies it gives you knowing that at some point they’re gonna angry kiss it out and become inseparable. It’s just getting there. We understand Nick has messed up, but haven’t we all?
You’re not gonna wanna miss this new book in the Falling for the Liar series! It brings us the drama, romance, and angst we love!
Willa Drew did it again, and the movie in my head continues!

Crushes, Friends, & Us by Willa Drew is a good, and enjoyable slow burn friends to lovers romance read. The story has a great entertaining world building story line. The characters are great, well written, wonderful, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I read this book as a ARC. I absolutely love this series, I have enjoyed every single book so far. Following Nick and Sarah’s journey is really interesting, never got annoying. You definitely will be happy with this book if you have enjoyed Nick and Sarah’s relationship and watching it grow!

Crushes, Friends, & Us de Willa Drew Serie Falling for the liar libro 3
Argumento:
Crushes, Friends, & Us is Will Drew's third novella in the Falling for The Liar series.
Yay! I was excited to get book three in the series and continue with Nick and Sarah’s story. This book picks up a couple of months after Sarah’s flight is detoured to Chicago, and she decides to surprise Nick with disastrous results. Now, Nick is in California attending the Starlight Foundation’s Future Filmmakers Competition. His attempts to find Sarah were fruitless, and he ended up empty-handed until his luck changed while at orientation. Sarah is among the students! When Nick is called to the head of the auditorium to introduce himself as one of the directors, his real identity is revealed to Sarah. This isn’t the Shawn she fell for; his name is actually Nick!
While the book is about Sarah and Nick trying to overcome their differences, the focus is also on the group of students who have come together to form the blue team. Together they must create a film in hopes of winning the competition. The supporting characters are fantastic, and I feel they will have more of the stories flushed out in other books. (cross my fingers) How will be able to work together with some many feelings on the line? Will Sarah forgive Nick? Does Nick have other secrets that he is keeping from Sarah?
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see how this plays out!
Thank you to Willa Drew for gifting me a copy of Crushes, Friends, & Us. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
FINALLY!!!! Finally Nick's lies have fully caught up to him and are being hashed out with the drama and passion they deserve! Oh the love/hate Sarah has for this man as she is forced to work with him to reach her dreams. I love the chaos of the setting as they are trying to win the film competition and we finally got to really know some new exciting supporting characters. The tension is THICK both romantically and emotionally. This book only boasts about 40 or so more pages than the previous two but is super packed with all the feels! Do we hate Nick? Do we love him? Are we rooting for this couple?! The ending brings us around in a nice circle and ties us up with a pretty bow! Thank God the Halloween book is already out so we don't have to wait for more Nick and Sarah! If you haven't read anything by these authors yet GET A WILLA DREW BOOK NOW!!!!!!!!
This is the third installment of this book, told in dual first person POV and leaves you on a cliffhanger. This story picks up at the Holiday after book two ends, and cannot be read as a standalone.
I have to, watching them both grow and mature throughout all the books is great! The fact that we get to see them both celebrate the holidays differently and together is an added bonus! I love that they got to work together on their project (which was described great by the way) as well as their (possible) relationship. I’m excited to see what comes next for them!
I received an advanced readers copy via StoryOrigin. These thoughts and opinions are my own.
Nick and Sarah end up on the same film team for a school competition. She finds out his real name when he is introduced as the director and she is the writer. The others in the group add depth and they all grow stronger in their chosen field. As truths come out, will they still be able to work together? Can they be more than the friend-zone they have put each other in? This book adds so much to their backstories, goals and personalities. Love this series and can not wait to see what happens to them next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sarah and Nick both get into the program they have been hoping for, making them collaborate on the movie project.
After all the lies and misunderstandings, Nick is relegated to the friendzone and will have to work hard to prove himself as the director of the project and worthy of Sarah.
“I can’t kid myself and say we’re just anything. My fingers find my lips and linger there. The butterflies in my stomach take flight. We’re more, whatever that is.”
In this installment our h/h are now working together and rekindling their romance. These two fit the definition of star crossed lovers. They also are on an emotional rollercoaster, so many ups and downs. This ends on a really high note and now we have to wait for next in series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loving this series!! And book 3 is another fabulous installment that I thoroughly enjoyed! Without giving anything away, we really get some nice on-page tension which is simply delicious. Conflicts, lies, secrets, and truths, oh my! Buckle your seatbelt and get ready for an amazing ride. These ladies write interesting characters you’ll love!
There are a few twists and turns in this story because of the complicated relationship between the characters. Great characters to follow as they try to unweave these complications. It's always fun to read a book that has some complex issues and some light moments as well. Good read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love love love childhood friends to lovers and this book did not disappoint! It gives you all the feels without a hangover. You should read the books in order, and trust me... you'll enjoy each one. Fabulous holiday romance with these two soulmates front and center.
