An excellent read. Starting out was a bit of a task, not knowing how to pronounce the Pharaoh's names or the names of the gods and goddesses of Egypt. However, the author was successful in placing these pharaohs: men and women, their gods in a unique way by retelling the stories, myths, and history of ancient Egypt. The author took you through the beginnings of this civilization: from creation through its history of twenty dynasties up to modern Egypt.
He recounted the exploits and scandals of the Pharaohs and the gods and goddesses. He also took you through a brief history of Egypt. The conquest of Alexander the Great, the Ptolemies, the Mamluks, Saladin, and his role in spreading Islam through this civilization of upper and lower Egypt. He touched on the spread of Christianity in this culture and society, as well as, giving a brief outlook at the various monument: pyramids, temples obelisks, sarcophagi, mummies, and the hieroglyphics found in the pyramids, tombs, and coffins. Interestingly, while modern society would take these as simple stories and myths the author took great lengths to express that the ancient Egyptians live their lives by these stories seen as truths.

I am really happy I picked these two books up.
What I really liked about these books were how well done they were. It was clear that the author did his research as he wrote a clear and easy to understand report. It is also nice to get two books touching both history and myth of this culture. They were both excellent and well worth getting if you are into Egyptian history and their myths.

Very intresting
I didn't know about the length of their civilization and the number of God's they had. I enjoyed reading about the history and mythology. I will be reading more of these books!

I found these books to be informative and interesting about Egyptian History and Mythology. They are well written and easy to read, and I learned quite a bit on Egyptian History, Myths, Gods and Goddesses. They are great books to have as resource on the subject.
