The supposed murder-suicide of a reclusive Navajo and his female companion draws computer hacker and private detective Laura Winslow and her lover, police officer Nathan Brittles, into a dangerous search for a killer--a possible skinwalker on the prowl--that leads to the dark secrets of a palatial gambling casino. I don't know how books this badly written ever get published. There were grammatical mistakes, and one glaring error where the author's knowledge of details appeared in the mind of a character who had no reason to know these things. Authors are often too close to the manuscript to clearly see mistakes like this, so the editing has not been helpful to Mr. Cole.

Worst of all were the muddy motivations and odd conversations which didn't advance the plot or provide insights. I could not finish this book.
