Leave Me Breathless...more like ‘Leave Me Bewildered’ as to how to rate this. If I was rating this purely for the steam factor and frequent and explicit sex scenes, then it would earn a solid 5 because quite frankly, there’s not much else in its 181 pages. After reading Their One and Only, which is another provocative ménage tale by the same author, I had high expectations for this, but it just didn’t quite deliver. Yes it’s a m/f/m ménage story and yes the sex is smokin’ H-O-T, but there’s virtually no character development or plot, and what little there is seems completely outlandish and unrealistic.
The story centers on two best friends, jovial, sweet ex-Navy SEAL Mitch and brainy alpha/Dom computer whiz Jake, who work for N.C.I.S and share women. They are tasked with providing 24/7 protective custody of a beautiful, intelligent civilian scientist working on a top secret missile project whose life may be in danger after her boss is kidnapped. Of course, it turns out that Tessa is the “one who got away” for both men and that they are both still in love with her...interesting coincidence. This is where I had the biggest problem with the story. The men have been best of friends since they were kids, are as close as brothers, and have shared all their women, other than her, and neither of them ever told the other about the woman they loved and lost? There’s the whole ‘can they share her, can she accept being with them both, and how will it work out’ issue, all while dealing with a threat on her life, but mainly, it’s a fairly weak story with lots and lots of risqué and erotic sex.
Their One and Only was an honest and thought provoking depiction of a loving, complex ménage relationship, and I had expected the same from Leave Me Breathless; but it’s not nearly as deep or well developed. What it’s got is plenty of hot m/f/m sex in all the ways imaginable (including a rather steamy scene involving very creative use of a key lime pie), so if that’s not your bag, then you best shop elsewhere. So, did it “Leave Me Breathless”? Not quite, but it left me hot and bothered enough for 3 ½ (almost 4) stars.
I was a little disappointed with this one. After reading Their One and Only by this author and enjoying it, I was looking forward to something similar. And while both books were plenty explicit, I felt that "Their One and Only" had a bit more plot and character development, so I wasn't just reading one sex scene after another, held together with a pretty thin plot. "Leave Me Breathless" left me frustrated, because I thought the book had lots of potential if only it was developed more. I felt like I didn't really know the characters all that well, so I was not as invested in them as I would have liked to be. If the author put as much attention to detail into plot and character development as she did into the sex scenes, then this book would have been a winner. As it stands, it was just okay for me.
Tessa Williams is a pretty blonde, petite, brainy M.I.T. grad working as a civilian scientist on a secret missile project for the government. Her boss in charge of the project, Admiral Shore, has gone missing. The director of the N.C.I.S. thinks he's been kidnapped in order to get him to reveal the missile launch codes, and Tessa's father (who is also an Admiral) figures Tessa's life could be in danger too since she's the only other person who knows the codes. So he pressures the director to assign her a couple of men who work for the N.C.I.S. to 'babysit' her and to keep her in protective custody. The fact that the men, Jake Bradley, an M.I.T. graduate and computer specialist, and the other, Mitch Robbins, a former Navy SEAL and now investigator for the N.C.I.S. are not really 'bodyguards' doesn't seem to matter to the director--he wants these guys to watch over Tessa, no arguments.
Jake and Mitch have been buddies since childhood, sharing just about everything, including some women. Their careers took different paths for a while when Mitch was a SEAL, but after an injury that nearly took his life, he and Jake are together again working as N.C.I.S. officers. When they find out who they are assigned to protect, they are stunned. Each has had a past relationship with Tessa, but neither has ever discussed it with the other. Jake has no idea that Mitch met and fell in love with Tessa a couple of years ago while he was stationed in San Diego, and Mitch has no idea that Jake met and fell in love with Tessa after they broke up. Both think of Tessa as the one who got away. What a small world.
When Tessa sees who is assigned to protect her, she is blown away. These two guys were the loves of her life, and she regrets not being able to make it work with either. Muscular, black haired, blue-eyed Mitch was the playful rake who stole her heart, but then broke it when he chose his military career over her. And dark blond, brown eyed and equally buff Jake--he was the Dom who taught her to let go and allow someone else to be in control. She never forgot either of them, still carrying their pictures in her wallet. Oh boy, and now they're assigned to protect her? Think of the possibilities...
Well of course they all catch up, Mitch and Jake realize that they love the same woman, Tessa realizes that she still loves both of them (don't ask her to choose), and they head for a safe house in the Florida Keys until Admiral Shore turns up. At first the guys struggle with their feelings of jealousy and wonder if they can stand to see Tessa with the other, and wonder how they can make this situation work for all of them. Things heat up almost instantly between Jake, Tessa, and Mitch as you expect they would, and the guys profess it's okay with them whoever Tessa chooses--they'll always love her and be friends forever. Tessa, Jake and Mitch don't really seem too worried about the situation with Admiral Stone and the possibility that Tessa's life may be in danger--they are three of the most over-sexed characters I've read about in a while, and it seems every time I turned the page, one or more was going at it with Tessa. I was wondering if they'd ever take a break to eat or sleep!
When an attempt is made on Tessa's life, they finally seem to take it a little more seriously, but that still doesn't stop the bedroom antics. Tessa decides that she wants to share 'everything', and plenty of Tessa sandwichs are made. Whew. Things go so well, that all three of them feel that maybe they can make this a permanent thing. Now if they can just figure out who wants those missile launch codes...
Like I said, the book gets plenty hot, so if you don't want to read about three people getting together in ways you wondered if were even possible, then stay away from this one. Their sex scenes are imaginative (once using a Key Lime Pie) and occur so frequently, I wondered at times how poor Tessa was able to walk! If only the plot was as detailed. I pretty much figured out who the bad guys were from the start, and the only suspense for me was if Mitch and Jake were going to take the job of protecting Tessa seriously or be taken by surprise and die while in the thows of passion!
The conclusion had me shaking my head in wonder a time or two, and the epilogue had me thinking that these three were going to need a lot of help making a go of this relationship. I wasn't totally sold that there would be smooth sailing in their lives, but who knows? Stranger things have happened. Not a totally bad reading experience, but one I thought could be so much more. 3 1/2 stars.
Warning: This book contains explicit language and sex, including oral and anal, some food play, and a m/f/m menage. Not for the faint of heart!
My Summary: A girl named Tessa who is put under protection as they fear that she may be in danger as her father is part of the army. Tessa is put under Jake and Mitches protection as they venture to a safe island, during this, feelings that have been under wraps start to unravell for the trio and it is up to Tessa to choose which one she wants to give her love to. The thing is, they both love her deeply and will do anything to get her.
REVIEW:
What a fucking stupid way to end a fucking stupid book " “I agree,” Mitch said as he settled on his knees next to her. “It will be both of ours. A baby we all created together.” " How stupid and deranged does this sound? Like for real in what universe does this even occur! I kept screaming at this book because of Tessa's stupidity and the cheesiness of it I was nearly sick! Fuck My Life (pardon my French) I swear if I was in this book I would have slapped her open handed and told her to get her shit together! Another point, I noticed how they seemed to have sex eeer on every two pages which took away from the whole actual point of the story. The author was very repeptitive in her writing and that got boring. It is extremely predictable abd slightly obvious that she was going to end up choosing them both, but seriousy? Getting married to both of them? Wow this girl is taking esctasy pills instead of contraception pills. I didn't really enjoy the book buy in a way felt forced to finish it just to see how it woud end up just so I can mock it. I didn't feel any eagerness whatsoever to finish it, it was more like leisure reading than enjoyment. So Therefore I Give This Book A Measly 3 Stars.
its raunchy, very raunchy. it was basically about sex with a side story of something about some warhead passwords. Seriously.
i honestly could probably write about the same kind of quality (and thats not saying much). There was no story here, just.. Sex. and a little bit of struggle with stealing the password.
This story was really rather ridiculous. Two guys that are best friends (and have shared women for years) find out they loved (and are still in love) with the same woman. It's like they forgot she existed and then all of a sudden she's in their lives and all of them are now in love again. Seriously? Suspension of disbelief. Got it. Okay, so now we're competing with one another and then we're okay with sharing, but only temporarily and only sexually because it just can't work out in the long term. And they're all stressing about who the heroine is going to choose in the end - because clearly all three of them cannot be together, even though its been working out great so far. And then of course the obvious occurs to them and problems are solved. Oh and there's this irritating little plot going on, but I skipped through most of that, because it didn't get half the attention it probably should have.
The real focus was the sex. Boy was there a lot of it. How are these people walking around normally - if I was the heroine I think I'd have an icepack over my cooter for the next week or so. They're all so oversexed and somehow threesome sex got so boring to me that I started skimming. Yup. I lost interest in it! And it's supposed to be so much more exciting because one of the guys is a "Dom" Only he's not. He likes to give orders and he threatens a spanking now and then but he never does anything to indicate that he's dominant. Not any more than the other guy anyway.
And my final peeve was this. Throughout the book the guys are explaining that they're not jealous because they're like two halves of the same whole. And this is never really explained. Why do they feel this way? They're not brothers, they're just friends. What makes them two halves of the same whole? I recommend Their One and Only in which the brothers really are two halves of the same whole, with the whole psychic connection and everything...also just a much better book.

Oh MY. Holy hotness, Batman. This menage was SO worth the wait...I have been wanting to read this for a long time. Perfect read for Valentine's Day. *fanning self* It was SO GOOD. Where did these three not have sex...seriously. They had sex EVERYWHERE! On the table, in the kitchen, in the bed, on the floor, in the hot tub, in the bath tub, in the shower, on the beach...ok, you get the picture. The secondary plot with the plot to steal the plans and why Tessa was in danger...yeah, see, I don't even care what it was because all it did was just detract from all the sexy hot yumminess going on between the three of them. But if I had to say why this book didn't get five stars, it would be because that plot wasn't developed very well and the book was rather short. But I really liked it...if you like MFM menage, this book is a must-read.
I found it funny that Tessa had an important relationship with both Mitch and Jake at different times and that both of the men kept it secret from the other, as it was significant to them. It was so ironic then that these two men were supposed to protect her and even funnier when the men realized they each had a past with Tessa.
I really liked that they guys didn’t make her choose, that they more lived in the moment, the more important part to them was to be back with the woman they loved. I sort of expected some flares of jealousy, but was happy that that didn’t happen. I also really liked that they guys realized that even the thought of a choice was driving Tessa crazy and they proactively came up with a plan.
The end was great, it was nice to see that the boys were able to win over her father and their plan worked out.
So... this is my first menage book... and OK then. the plot was weak, felt more like I was watching NCIS meets Cinemax late night. The sex scenes were hot, and I liked both men, but MY GOD if I were her I wouldn't be able to walk! Every page was sex. sometimes with one, more often with both taking turns, and sometimes both at the same time. I don't think I'll look at keylime pie Quite the same way again :)
Not sure how to rate this book. For sexy scenes it was a 3, for plot, about a 3, but the actual writing of the plot stunk. Not enough information.
I understand the title of this book. There was so much sex that I was almost too breathless to finish the book. There was more sex than storyline. Which actually made this book hard to finish. Yes, I just said that! There just was not enough plot for me to care how it ended. But there was a HAE at the end.
What could have been an interesting set up, the girl sent into sudden protective custody while her admiral father is mysteriously missing, was kind of overshadowed by the girl having known both the heroes prior to said custody. Both of them. Separately. In two separate relationships that fizzled. Coincidence of coincidences. But for all of this, she’s not upset with either. Although none of the three ever bothered to look each other up. The guys are childhood/lifelong friends, btw. Neither of whom is a bodyguard. But the two heroes could have been explained as sudden bodyguards - one is a former seal but the other a computer specialist for the NCIS. Their boss doesn’t trust that the missing admiral wasn’t an inside job. But there’s that coincidence again. Not to mention the heroine’s horniness. Then there’s this at the 10% mark:
“...last time her and Jake had spent...”
SHE. SHE AND JAKE HAD SPENT. It’s basic verb conjugation.
Her father, her only parent, with whom she’s so close they work together is missing , but she “can’t wait to hit that beach.” This is a bizarre reaction. Then there’s this:
“...they’ll be no hard feelings...”
THERE. THERE WILL BE NO HARD FEELINGS.
And the grammatical tragedies are so aggravating bc I just didn’t connect with any of the characters. The story is like a very thin very boring skin hung around the bones of three way porn.
In fact, I counted up the pages of the first two sex scenes - one with each guy - and they account for a diplomatic 21 pages each. That’s two thirds of the book by the time the second one ends. I skimmed them because I just don’t care about any of the three. ::smirk::
It’s at this point that she gets to being concerned for her father. Btw, you don’t need to reply to a text for your cell phone to be tracked. You’d think a “computer specialist” would know this.
But not to fear! She takes off her bikini top to avoid tan lines so all is well.
I just can’t even...skipping ahead... from chapter 6 to chapter 14.
Hey there’s a twist. Seriously? This guy couldn’t survive on his salary? The highest paid agents under him make close to $130k a year. He’s hardly “risking his life” as an appointee riding a desk.
“Be quiet,” her and Jake ordered at the same time.
SHE!!!
“Mitch sighed as he glanced around his stark white hospital room. He’d been here for three days and was bored out of his mind. If he didn’t get out of this room soon, he’d go stark raving mad.”
That’s three cliches in a single paragraph. Bonus points.
“I don’t want to loose you too.”
Or lose her.
This book really felt empty, in a hurry to get somewhere but never arriving. It has a promising storyline but would have benefited greatly from some serious editing and extensive character development.
This book left me breathless alright, but I cried and laughed too! It was a bit on the simple side but I enjoyed it as a quick read for in between my more serious books.
What’s better than a Navy Seal? Two Navy Seals. They are trained to protect Tessa from the threats on her life and offer her a deal she cannot say no to as well.
Tessa Williams has a great engineering and physics job at the government, which leaves no person life for her. So her friend Kate convince her to take some time off and explore life, but then the director of NCIS tells her she is in danger and needs to go in protective custody. It appears that the only person besides Tessa, who has access to the new missile launch code, has disappeared. Tessa knows she has to go under for awhile, because she cannot afford being kidnapped for those codes.
Mitch Robbins and Jake Bradley are best friends. Mitch is an investigator for NCIS and Jake their computer specialist. They are assigned to protect this female scientist and they are not happy about it, until they discover its Tessa Williams they need to protect. They both had dated Tessa, but never informed the other about that affair, it seems both men regretted letting her go.
Leave me breathless by Trista Ann Michaels is a great book full of danger, action and some smoking hot scenes.
Tessa is a beautiful, intelligent strong woman and her work is everything to her. But she knows that her job involves some risk and when her partner disappears, she has to go in hiding for awhile to lure out the one who is responsible. When she meets her two protectors, she’s shocked. Mitch and Jake are best friends and both had a brief relationship with her, she cannot ignore the fact that both are still very important to her.
During their hide-out they all discover that they want to act on that chemistry, but is it possible to choose between the two handsome men. Will she destroy their friendship when she chooses one or can they find a way to solve their difference and be together, the three of them?
This was my first book by this author and I have to say it was a pleasure to read it. This novel contains everything I like in an erotica romance novel, two handsome NCIS agents, a strong intelligent woman and their huge chemistry.
I’m definitely going to keep my eye on this author and see what she has in store for us in the future.
Although I like Their One and Only better, if you ignore the grammar and editing errors, this was an excellent read. I find it interesting that while she gave head to Jake, she used her finger to fuck his arse. Also, the guys feel jealous about each other in the beginning and the girl feels guilty from feelings of cheating. I don't like how she cries so much and I think the epilogue was unnecessary because I found the last line before the epilogue to be really good. However, the diamond and two engagement rings was a good part.i liked the nice touch with the subtle SEAL communication techniques that the Admiral and Mitch used.
She has sex with Mitch alone first, then the two of them together twice with both times having one in her pussy and one in her mouth, Jake alone on the couch of a plane/private jet, both again standing up in the kitchen of their second safe house with this the first time with one in her pussy and one is her ass (but for some reason, although both talk to her, she only ever cries out Mitch's name), and once in the outdoor hot tub with Jake in her pussy and Mitch watching with his hand on his cock and with her squeezing his balls to make him and licking him clean afterwards (they did this to prove to her that they are not jealous of each other).
I would definitely recommend this to others.

Uuuuugggggg.... I read the poor reviews and tried to read this book as though it was PWP. DNF 33%
Unfortunately, the characters were so irritating it got in the way. I need to like the characters (well at least, not dislike them) in order to get into the sex scenes. I just found Tessa's behavior to be too much of an airhead for me to like/respect her. She definitely did not fit the profile of a MIT grad, missile project leader either.
The two guys both acted like teenagers. Their jealous behavior was stupid with their history of sharing women and that they both chose their careers over Tessa. Mitch definitely wasn't a Dom but just had bossy vanilla sex. Mitch was a former SEAL but didn't act like it as far a guarding Tessa.
This second chance relationship between them all seemed like instant love. It didn't make sense. I din't buy that the guys were still in love with her if they didn't try to look her up once they got back stateside. They just came across fickle. And Tessa was just too stupid, ready to get her heart broken again, and get updated photos for her wallet.
No condoms and airhead Tessa was fine with that? no lube for the anal sex?
The other reviews for this book point out all of the discrepancies in the plot. I just focused on the characters.
Nowhere near as good as her earlier book, Their One and Only. Michaels has proven that she can write an engrossing menage story, but Leave Me Breathless falls way short of that mark. All the characters were one-dimensional; there was no depth or emotional investment. On the other hand, there was plenty of good sex, but that can only carry a story so far. These cardboard players trying to make a menage relationship work sounded stilted and far removed from the reader. Such a disappointment! 2.5 stars, barely.
I found this book very unrealistic and at times found Tess to be such an airhead even though she's a scientist in NCIS. The ending was a surprise but also unrealistic, if you know the ending you know what i mean. i don't want to include spoilers. But the sex was really hot, if your looking for a book like that. i was just curious when i read the book description but my rating is 2 stars or maybe 1.5 stars due to Tess acting like a dumb women. i didn't get the scientist in her especially since your NCIS.
Reviewer Shawna said it best with the line "Leave Me Breathless...more like ‘Leave Me Bewildered’ as to how to rate this." For the life of me I could not get into this book. The dialogue did not seem genuine, the characters were lacking, and the over abundance of sex was unnecessary. If your looking for a better read from this author I suggest "Their One and Only". There is a bit more character development and the dialogue is slightly more believable.
This one was just a smidge better than ok for me. It was a sweet little story of 2 men who share women all the time, but they each fell in love with Tessa separately. Through a crazy set of circumstances, they reunite with her as one and everything is just hunky-dory from there.
It is ok. It's a quick easy read where everything is tied up in a pretty little bow, but it doesn't have much depth.
I give it 3 1/2 stars. Tessa Williams is one brilliant rocket scientist, who just can't seem to find a decent man to date. Well she has had two men in her past that turned her head but the timing wasn't right with either of them. Suddenly something bad happens and Tessa finds herself under protection of N.C.I.S. and on the run for her life. And who are her protectors of course the two men that have always held her heart.
Leave Me Breathless by Trista Ann Michaels did exactly that in several spots.
This is an amazing story that had me hooked from the beginning and would not let me put it down. This is one of those stories I wish we had more than 5 stars.
Tessa has found herself in some hot water and to keep her safe, she is assigned to Mitch and Jake. But, there are complications with that assignment. Come along for the ride of ALL their lives.
much like everyone else said this could have been really good if it was developed more. by the end you still know virtually nothing about the characters. the sex scenes were great, even if one or two of them i couldnt figure out logistically. its always a sad night when i am trying to figure out the mechanics of the sex. who knows maybe the men are just more bendy than i am?
This was a slightly just above average read, but it just did not have the depth to rank as good. It was sweet with loads of steam, but I found myself wanting more story. I did like how the guys liked to spoiler her, and truly made an effort to make her happy. The ending is neatly tied with a bow, but I would have enjoyed more character development, suspense, and conflict.
It was okay. she had great characters, but i dunno know waht i didn't like about it. I guess i didn't like the plot line. Mitch is kind of too soft-heart. i would have defineitly want to married the girl. I felt like Mitch got the short end of the deal.
I never thought I'd ever say this, but, this story was too much sex and not enough substance. Towards the end I was skimming through the sex scenes. I could have used more character development. Good plot - it just lacked detail.
