Stalking Daddy

Rate this book
I've wanted him for so long, it's time he wants me back.

Ignacio

They say being the son of a crime lord is what's damned me from the start.

I don't think my misfortunes truly began until my mom's new husband came along.

I wanted what I couldn't have for too long.

When everything was nearly taken from me, I promised myself I'd never let anything get in my way again.

Not my abductors, not my family, nor some federal agent who pretended to be my stepdad and friend.

They will all pay one by one, starting and ending with the man who still continues to haunt my dreams.

Everett Madison's sufferings will last until I'm ready for them to end. By the time I'm done with him, he will not only be damaged and broken, he will also belong to me.

Stalking Daddy is a gritty, twisted romance and book one in a three book series.

2023 has been like one bad read after another so far. I really can only go up from here. 😂

With a name like ‘Stalking Daddy’ and a blurb that basically reads possessive af, I really expected a bit more. More what you ask? More jealousy, more obsession, more stalking, more sex, more passion, more intrigue, more kink, more daddy/boy dynamics, more possessiveness. Basically, more everything. Instead this was a total yawn fest and right when I couldn’t take another second there was a huge plot twist that made me believe it would improve only for another twist and then an incomplete ending. This is book 1 of a 3 book series but the next book is about Everett’s brother so I’m not sure the loose ends in this book will be wrapped up. Nor do I really care tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️

So Everett is Ignacio’s (Iggy) stepdad when this starts and Iggy is madly in love with him. Then some shit happens that I can’t mention because spoilers but basically Everett and Iggy are held hostage and develop a trauma bond. This is when their relationship becomes more. Unfortunately it’s not the taboo I was expecting it to be because spoilers so don’t go into this thinking it’s some sordid stepson, stepfather thing because it will disappoint the fuck out of you. When they get out Iggy declares war on everyone that hurt him and keeps his eye on Everett by putting a tracker on his car among other things. They meet up sometimes because they can’t sleep without the other there and it moves to a physical relationship of sorts but it is seriously the most lackluster sex (if you can call it that?) that I’ve read in ages.

Then the book drags and I was just about to DNF somewhere in the 70% mark when there’s a huge plot twist so naturally I keep reading because I think this is going to get better. It doesn’t. There’s another twist of sorts. Yawn 🥱 and there’s a sex scene with no lube, ouch 🤕 but it’s all very boring. I mean come on where’s the daddy aspect I was waiting for? Where is the crazy mafia stuff? I mean, mafia stuff happens but besides all the murder, it’s boring af and most is left open ended. Then right near the end there’s fire play kink added in randomly that finally ups the heat level a bit but then the book ends. Incomplete but not a cliffhanger yet I will not be back to see if the answers ever come.

On a different, completely unrelated note. Isn’t this the same model that is on the cover of Emery by Cora Rose? I guess he’s supposed to look edgy or like this badass mafia guy but all I kept picturing every time I got bored was a guy with Emery’s personality trying to be all tough and it just made me laugh. 🤣

The cover got me 😳
I enjoyed the prologue extremely and thought this will be a fantastic read.

I shouldn't be having these thoughts about my stepdad. No matter how hard I try, I can't stop imagining him pinning me to the wall, ripping down my pants, and spanking me for being a sarcastic shit.

… well … not 😥
There is a lot of torture and rape, so mind the dark things inside …
Well, the first 70 pages are not pretty, but I thought to myself, it will be fine. Then the ordeal is finally over and I thought now the relationship of Iggy and Ev is developing, but somehow nothing fit together. The plot gradually explains why both characters behave so strangely dichotomous.
Things made sense and I got into it, I was able to accept, that as much the two of them belong together and want to be together, at the same time they want to hurt each other.

A part of me misses having his skin touching mine and I'm not sure why. I'm growing uneasy the longer I go without it.

I took their world and made it mine and then dragged my Daddy into it. I'm not ready to let him free either. He will belong to me but I will never be his. Everything he does from now on will be because I want him to do it. He's my own little personal puppet and moves at each pull of my strings, all the while assuming he's making the decisions himself. They no longer belong to him and neither do his feelings, or emotions.

This book left me insanely confused. I already had several angry sentences at hand, but then it evolved until the end had me pulling my hair out. 🥺
I am totally confused.
At the very end Iggy suddenly changes and the relationship gets a happy ending? Well, in this case an open or even disastrous ending would have been better.
I just don't buy the characters' emotional attachment and growth. Sorry, but I could never fully settle into them and at some point it just became too lacking.

Alright so, here is the thing. It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read BUT it wasn’t great either.

I left it at 60% and so far nothing interesting, in my opinion, and exciting has happened. Nothing that has me chomping at the bits, reading like a mad woman trying to figure out what happens next. Don’t care much for either protagonist. Ev is a doormat and Iggy is a child pretending to be a badass and oh so edgy.

I was already halfway though the thing and if nothing has wow’d me so far then nothing after that will. By that time it will be too late.

Also the book went completely on a whole different course than I thought it would. I had a whole plot already in my head and I was so ready for it. It turned out to be a completely different take. That’s not the author’s fault, fyi. I just wanted to point it out.

Anyways, the book has high ratings and I think I am the only rating with less than 3 stars so, do with that what you will.

Stalking Daddy was everything I have come to expect from Ashlynn Mills, a whole loads of savage, murderous content! And I absolutely loved every second of it. This psychological, romance? Stalking Daddy is a romance in the darkest and loosest terms. It is insanely toxic with a vast amount of gaslighting. A deadly Holiday read, with all the Christmas thrills and none of the Christmas spirit.

I absolutely loved Ignacio, he is one twisted guy. The many faces he presented was absolutely thrilling to behold, I never really knew which side of Ignacio was leading this elaborate story. This wasn't your classic revenge driven Mafia romance. There was many twist and turns and different key players lurking in the shadows. Everett was a fascinating character too, career driven and an upholding/straightlaced federal agent. He's also Ignacio's step-father, although Ignacio's feelings for him are anything but familial. He is everything Ignacio isn't, where Everett is your average do-gooder, Ignacio is his fathers son, a criminal and next inline to the Mafia chair. When Ignacio's life gets turned upside down, all our characters are sent into a tailspin and everything is at stake! Resulting in a sordid path of abduction/kidnapping, violence, murder and suspicion. Stalking Daddy will have yourself asking, what the hell did I just read? And questioning whether up is down or if down is up.

I read most of the books by this author, and generally enjoy the writing style and subject. This book tho....not a fan. I was somewhat confused with all the back and forth between Ev and Iggy. I'm honestly still not sure how exactly they got to their ending. Trying not to give too much away here. The writing was decent, but the plot was off. It sounded great, but it feels like it just went off the track a bit, and never got quite lined up again. It won't stop me from reading the next book in the series, I'm hopeful it will hit the spot that this author usually does for me. It's not an awful read, and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end, but I just didn't connect with this one.

I sat on this review for a week, trying to figure out exactly why I landed on this rating, and honestly? I’m still not entirely sure.

The setup is definitely intriguing; Everett, the so-called stepfather Iggy has been crushing on, isn’t who he claims to be. He’s actually working to take down Iggy’s father, which leads to Iggy getting caught in the crossfire. When the truth comes out, Iggy is furious and sets out for revenge, while Everett, drowning in guilt, lets it happen because he blames himself for everything Iggy went through.

It had all the makings of a dark, intense read, but something about the execution felt… off. The dynamic between Everett and Iggy was compelling, but for a book called Stalking Daddy, there wasn’t much actual stalking, and the daddy kink was barely there. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but definitely not what you’d expect from the title.

Overall, it’s a fast-paced, revenge-fueled "romance" with an interesting premise, but if you’re picking it up expecting a heavy dose of stalking and daddy kink, you might be left wanting more.

I really wanted to like this. I enjoyed the prologue. Honestly that was the story I hoped this was and what I wanted to read...

In the end this was very dark and I was having trouble with understanding Iggy's motivations and getting a handle on his characterization... The pov switching was confusing and the plot was just dragging... so I'm putting this one down despite my curiosity to see how it all ends... maybe I'll just skip to the end to see how it all plays out... but I don't think I can read the rest to get there...

This book is definitely dark and twisted! Only this author could write a book that goes from a torture tail to love. I loved all of the twists and turns in this book. It kept being on the edge of my seat throughout wondering what would happen to Iggy and Ev.

He has wanted him for long enough, it’s time he wanted him back. Ignacio is the son of a crime lord, he was damned from the start but that’s not what he thought it all started when his mum’s new husband came along. He wanted what he couldn’t have for so long. Not his abductors, this family nor some federal agent who pretended to be my stepdad and friend. But by the time Ignacio is finished he will be broken and belong to only him….

I have no idea what this was and what I read, I really wanted to enjoy this book and when I saw this being promoted it generally sounded like a book I would enjoy but all it did was leave me with more questions than answers. The positives of this book is I really love the cover I think it’s gorgeous and this book was written extremely well but unfortunately for me this read more of a fill in novella for a current series going on than the beginning of a new series just about to start. I also wish we got to see the main characters more and the interaction between them before everything kicked off it was like we were just thrown into the deep of everything.

Yes! Yes! And more Yes! This is definitely my kind of book! The blurb caught my interest and the trigger warnings sold me haha.

Ignacio and Everett both have this darkness in them. They go through this crazy experience together. Their interactions are obsessive, possessive and *phew* steamy.

I will say it’s not the darkest book I’ve read, but it’s close. I think if you’re going to have trigger warnings, then they should be descriptive and on page.

I hope the author really take it up a level in the next story. By that I mean, put the

The way the story is written leaves you wondering (and sometimes a bit confused), but it gives the twists that extra depth. The pacing was done well. The characters had complexity to them. Nothing is really what it seems to be.

This won’t be for everyone. Read the trigger warnings. Then read them again. If you’re into mafia, dark psychological thrillers, morally ambiguous (or lacking any at all), stories that are engaging then I highly recommend giving this a read.

slightly dark and twisted

When i first read the epilogue in a teaser, I had a different idea of how the book would be. I thought it would be a more playful daddy book. What I read was a more twisted and dark mafia book with lots of turns and surprises and things aren't really what they seem. Saying that, I did still enjoyed the book and tried to figure who was behind everything and i kept on being surprised. The daddy element was a small bit on the side and not full on as the title suggests.

Heady reading

Well that was a trip. You really won’t be able to guess what is going on with this story because it’s a lovely twisty tale, mostly about the two main characters and their relationship. If you are in the mood for something fluffy then this book is definitely not what you are looking for but if the opposite is what you want then look this book up and get ready to have fun.

Stalking Daddy

There is nothing more I love than a dark romance. This book was dark and twisted in the best ways.
Every time I start a book I always try to guess what is going to happen through out it, this was not what I expected band I love it!
I found Iggy to a sweet psychopath and Everyone is the perfect daddy to tame the little brat

Dark!

This story was a little darker then I normally read and it had twists and turns all over. I don’t usually enjoy books that don’t have an ending because you then have to wait forever for the next book. Despite this not being the end, I did enjoy it and will be waiting for the next book! Not an easy read, but worth it.

good writing

I enjoyed the authors writing style. The storyline was great but it was a little dark for my taste. But that’s just personal preference. I did think it was well written and things were revealed in an exciting way.

I think I’ve been through every emotion reading this book
Ashlynn Mills what are you trying to do to us? Honestly what an outstanding book that had me going through so many emotions. I was so gutted getting to the end of this book because I need all the answers. Please tell me the next book is coming out soon.
Ignacio didn’t have an easy childhood being a son of a crime lord, learning how to kill somebody at the age of 12 with a knife. He lived with his mum and stepdad Everett. The only problem with that was that Iggy was attracted to Everett and really struggled to keep it at bay. And then one day everything changed. He had been abducted and every second of that time he suffered. I’m really sorry I don’t wanna go into the story and ruin it for you I don’t wanna tell you how that day started or who Iggy thinks betrayed him. But I will tell you that Iggy is one amazing young man. Yes he suffered but he is stronger and he gets his revenge and that is all I’m telling you because you really really will not be able to put this book down. I will say he does find a man named Evan who sees him for the person he really is. This is a truly amazing book that left me screaming for more. Cannot wait till the second book comes out.

I've never really been a big reader of dark romance novels, but the ones I have read I've enjoyed and I really like Ashlynn Mills' novels so I will give whatever she writes a go. I'm not sure dark romance fits this book, it's definitely psychologically dark and twisted and there is a dark and twisted relationship that builds between Ignacio and Everett, but I don't know that romance is the word to describe it. I did however enjoy Stalking Daddy and the connection between Everett and Ignatio is one that becomes very codependent while being twisted and hot at the same time.

I thought I knew what the deal was with Ignacio's kidnapping and then Everett's kidnapping and their treatment and relationship, but that got completely turned on its head more than once and my mind was blown by the dark and devious minds that both characters ended up displaying.

The story ends on a cliffhanger with Everett's brother MIA and I can't wait to continue this dark journey.

Ignacio et Everett

Euhhh.
