Åh, vilken dålig bok. Hatade Elise och alla andra jävla karaktärer. Elise är ju förfan helt sjuk i huvudet. Usch.

Carl dog!

I didn't really enjoy this book, although I must admit that there were times when the book was full of suspense that kept me turning the pages. However, the development of the book was rather uneventful, and the final event was, although interesting, was also sad in that despite everything, Elise still didn't get what she wanted. I enjoyed how the book was wrapped up with similar ways with similar sentences. The book didn't appeal to me, but it was good.

This story is very well crafted from the beginning and it has a very peculiar protagonist, a teenager who believes she's fat and undeserving of the love and attraction of the oppsoite sex, thus thinking herself to be invisible. But she is in love with her unknowing neighbour next door and she will do everything so separate him from the girl he begins dating.

Some of the elements of the story are hammered in, some never amount to anything (the brother coming out of prison) and the ending is pretty bad from a narrative standing point, but there are bright spots througout as as portrait of a certain type of girl that is laser foccused on another and self loathes, incapable of recognizing the value in the interest others demonstrate towards her. She is selfish and careless, completely oblivious to everything other than her immediate goal. This part of the book is very well done.

The relashionship sabotage, though, is very basic and tires after a while, because of its repetitiveness. The couple breaks up and reuntines more times than one can count, getting the protagonist hopes up and down at every instance. The manipulation mechanism loses the reader long before the climax. And the finding and keeping of the gun is too on the nose. A pity the whole is not wrapped up a little better.

Intressant med plottwisten i slutet. Att det är ett typiskt triangeldrama med två tjejer och en kille drar ner betyget lite, lite uttjatat... För att väga upp det är denna boken dock mer spännande än vad en del andra liknande böcker kan vara.

Overall, I really liked this book. The very first chapter was confusing, but as I read the book I could see how it led up and linked back to the beginning. This book really gripped me and dug it's claws in deep- I read it in exactly one day.I had so much that I needed to get done that day, but the book simply wouldn't let me put it down! (I'm sure my teachers will understand, right? ;) )I loved the character of Elise (Although I kept reading her name as Elsie) and felt that I could really relate to her. I finished it at about half eleven at night and was very surprised at the ending. I really didn't see it coming!! At all! I had a huge 'book hangover' the next day (you know, when you've finished reading a really good book and can't stop thinking about it but there's no more of the book to be read and your happy that you finished ot but sad there's no more) but this book was really worth it!!

It's not often that I give a book only two stars and I was hesitant to do so but now I have. As the title suggests, the underlying theme of the book is jealousy. Elly, the main character, has a crush on her close friend and neighbour Carl. When Carl starts seeing a new girl to the school Elly does everything that she can to derail the relationship. Elly also throws herself at other boys to either take her mind off Carl or to make him jealous and this is something I wouldn't want young girls thinking it's okay to do. The book is well written and does cover issues teenagers would be concerned about.

This book was interesting and captured me right from the start as on the first page the author writes of someone being murdered. Later on throught the book it shows of a girl spinning her web of deciet to get the boy she wants and in the end it turned out to be the ending she never wanted. I especially liked how at the start it shows in part one the dead body and in part two something completely different and in part three it all links together.

Anne Cassidy can't write anything which doesn't keep me on the edge of my seat... It's full of a passionate twists & characters. The love story was very sad, but I think Anne Cassidy's strength rests in those twists & scandal happening (the ending isn't what Elise wanted, as most reviews will tell you. I don't think there are spoilers...)
To Anne in general, I love you! All books, honestly, every one is a must-read. Everything a YA can ask for ;) But I don't need to.

This book was a mess, and I'm not sure if I mean that in a good or bad way. The plot was certainly something, and I enjoyed reading the book while I did, wanted to continue to figure out what was going to happen next, but now that it's done I'm really not that sure what I think about it. It's not bad, I don't think, just... weird.
