Backwards and Forwards is a book of poems written by Deb Carpenter reflecting her unique perspective on life, love, family, and food. Deb Carpenter often looks at the world with a sly sense of humor, or with a disarming honesty. She has the enviable ability to put herself in the shoes of others, making her poetry accessible to people from all paths of life. She brings a sense of mischief as well as of vulnerability to each topic she chooses to paint with her words.
I love Deb’s work—it’s full of wit, sarcasm and self deprecating humor which I greatly appreciate. Her poetry is very relatable and nostalgic despite coming from quite different backgrounds. It’s not as polished as her more recent “Odd Girls Guide To Poetry, Ect,” but still an enjoyable read.
