I was attracted to this book by the 1960's illustrations, they are so distinctively of that era. I love the colour palette of brown, camel, turquoise, olive green and orangey red. The story shows you a family celebrating Passover, the two children explain what is happening and the parts of the celebration they like. Having spent some time living in Israel I enjoyed reading about this celebration, as this family shows, there are quite specific ways this festival is celebrated which is quite interesting to those not of the Jewish faith. We enjoyed reading about the children playing hunt the matso, a bread version of hunt the thimble!

An account of the traditions Jewish families follow for Seder night. Much was explained behind why certain things are done and many of the songs/phrases that are spoken through dinner were written in both the original tongue and English - a touch I thought was very neat.

This book is quite different from most informational books. It tells the new information in a story like manner. I would recommend it.
