Stuck

Rate this book
When Gina Tait and Brad Harding spend ninety minutes stuck in an elevator together, neither can deny an intense physical attraction. Neither can they deny that in the real world, their ambitions and life views are polar opposites. Despite a constant, nagging desire to stay in contact, both Brad and Gina agree nothing could ever come of a relationship between an ambitious, single, city girl and a laid-back, widowed father of two girls from a small country town. It's better not to start something that can never be. Fate, however, in the form of a raging storm and Brad's twelve-year-old daughter, has other plans.

Stuck is a cute novel by Elisabeth Rose. It is a contemporary romance that takes place in Australia. The characters are very realistic and well-developed. The plot is simple but twisty enough to keep you reading. It is a really cute story.
Brad Harding, a wood carver and artist from Birrigai, Australia, was reluctantly in Sydney to deliver a petition. The petition was to be given to someone at Newsworks. Personally, he felt it was a useless errand; but he had to fulfill it. As the elevator door started to shut, a loud, “Hold the Elevator” was heard. Although he though it rude to shout so, he held the elevator for a beautiful girl in a red suit to get to the elevator. She entered with no apologies or courtesies. He thought she was rude, arrogant, pushy, obnoxious, and impatient; but beautiful. Luckily he had his errand to finish.
Georgina Tait was on her way to a meeting with Mr. French of Newsworks. As soon as it was over, she had to rush back to her own building for another meeting. She was definitely a career woman on her way up and she didn’t have time nor energy to consider those she felt less than her.
When Mr. French walked Georgina out to the lobby, Brad took this opportunity to hand him the petition and explain to him what it was. Then he headed for the elevator and home. Waiting impatiently for the elevator to arrive was Georgina. With thoughts of getting a sandwich before catching the train, he blindly followed Georgina into the elevator. He was watching the floors go by when the elevator stopped somewhere between the 13th and 14th floors. He took it in stride while Georgina flipped out. How long would he be in her with a flipped out female?
Thus begins the very different relationship between Brad and Georgina. What will happen in the elevator? Will they see each other afterwards or is the entire story told in the elevator? The fun is in finding out.

3.25 for the romance + 0.5 for the kids = 3.75 total

30 yr fmc / 36 yr mmc i think???

I actually enjoyed this much more than i thought i would. Especially considering how short the novel is

- i do like both mmc and fmc. However. They are both flawed individuals. Both are very stubbord and easily hurt. They are VERY different lol

- i WAS starting to feel their attraction to eachother. However, for most of the book, it was more stated than shown.

- what i loved MOST is fmc relationship with the kids. Especially, the older 12 yr girl. I really empathized with her over her little sister being favored. I loved thst fmc was able to give her some personal attention so she could feel more special

I love how eager mmc and his kids were to a new woman entering their lives. Single dad books sre tricky bcs more often than not fmcs live in the past wifes shadow. However, in this book it was great to see fmc have this same fear, state it, and be both told and proven that this would NOT be the case. They were EAGER to have a mom lol

Misleading description

This was an ok book. There was nothing really wrong with it on a major level. But i felt like the two of them needed a lot more book before i was convinced of their feelings.

My main problem stems fron the description, which heavily implies a physical relationship that isn't present.

My problem isn't the smut-free book... i strongly feel there is a place for that for people who want to read it. But say so in the description. It helps people who want that find your book and people who like smut not to feel led on.

Otherwise, like i said this book was otherwise ok, although i didn't get the sense they really had a connection.

It was okay

It was an okay story. I struggled to connect with the characters. I definitely liked Brad more than I liked Gina. I didn't feel like there was any real chemistry between the two of them. I had to make myself finish this one. The writing was good. It is written from an Australian perspective so there were some words I had to figure out. Not a big deal overall, but something to make note of it will bother you.

Unlikable heroine

I couldn't find anything likable about Gina. I couldn't even believe she liked the kids. There was nothing to support her total turn around. And the twelve year old daughter was a brat. Just not a well.written piece. Skip this one.

This book was so horrible I couldn't even finish it. If the father in this book chooses to be with the woman he got stuck in the elevator with he deserves the horrible future that awaits them both! Ugh so annoying!

Such an awful book! I wish I could give zero stars!

Unlikely couple

I really enjoyed this story about a single, successful businesswoman meeting a widowed father of two. They meet in the most unusual way-stuck in an elevator, yet there is an attraction, especially after the lights go out. They are so different from each other and lead completely opposite lives, of which they have no intention of changing. She's a rich city girl and he's a father who enjoys bringing up his children in the country. Everything about them is so different, but they can't seem to stop thinking about each other. It was interesting seeing how they come to terms with their differences with some help from his children. Brad and Gina were a very likeable couple! I didn't want this story to end! Hope to read more from this author.

I had a hard time walking away from the story. My mind would wander back to Gina and Brad. In the end, I walked away with a smile. It's a charming romance and one that most readers will heartily enjoy.

". . .the cast is charismatic and easily lovable. Romance readers looking for a low-key time-burner will have a ball."

Preconceived notions and prejudices fall by the wayside in Rose’s highly enjoyable out-of-the-blue romance.

I got about a fifth of the way through - up to the point where he tells her a "cute" story about mice in his closet, to calm her down since they are stuck in an elevator. HELLO???? MICE are not calming!!!!! I guess I sort of lost interest in reading further at that point - I didn't really like or care about the characters, so why bother. The book is due at the library, so ... I won't be finishing this one. It doesn't really read like a romance, it's more like chick lit (which I do not like), but I'm classifying it as "romance" since that's how it's shelved at the library.

I thought Gina was just an absolutely horrible and close minded person. I felt like the story went too fast with not enough character or story development and it just didn't work for me. It also bothered me how all throughout the story they kept saying that their relationship would never work because they are two completely different people and then all of a sudden at the end they both change their minds without any real reasoning behind it except to just give it a shot. I thought it was kind of weak. I didn't really enjoy this one.

PG - clean read, a couple of swears, a couple of kisses
YAWN. I kept having to force myself to read this because it was dry, and boring. The beginning part had promise - two strangers, polar opposites, are trapped in an elevator and end up sharing an electrifying kiss. That's some serious fantasy, and could have gone somewhere, but the characters were dull and one-dimensional and non-sympathetic, and I did not care a speck about them. I did not like this book.

Not what I expected

This book had the potential to be a great love story but fell short it just dragged. The characters fell in love just because it could have been great I kept waiting for something to happen but it never came would not recommend

Not bad

It was a nice little read in between the more serious books I've been reading, but its really predictable and doesn't have a whole lot going for it

This is not a fast-paced story, despite the elevator and storm in the description. It's just a story of how two people fell in love. Decent read and entertaining.

Stuck with you soulmate

A different romantic twist of a novel. Gina and Brad appear complete opposites but it seems to suit them well too. The girls breath life into Gina she would be missing before hand.

Though the ending needed more. Especially since one little conversation after a proposal and they suddenly fix things seems they should have been able to get there before that.

I'd also have liked a peak into their future where the tough stuff happens once she is a full time new mom.

Short review. I found Gina a little too closed minded and somewhat hard to like, Brad was much easier to like and enjoy as a character.
