Borrowed it from a friend, who bought it as a textbook. I enjoyed it - filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge of music history.

Wouldn't know

I never once opened this book. You know how it goes in college. My professor required it and we never used it

Somehow I had to read through this entire book for a summer class. If I was bored it's because I had to read it under academic duress. However, there was a lot of interesting material in here and it changed my entire perspective on music.
