Personal Response I really liked reading this book because I learned things about gun control that I have never heard or thought about that happened a long time ago or in the last couple years. The right to bear arms was started before it was even wrote in the constitution. It everybody had not had there own weapons then the United States would not have been able to beat Great Britain in the Revolutionary War. Plot The plot of this book was very interesting. In the beginning it talked about how the U.S.A. won its freedom because everybody owned there own guns and they were ready to fight at a short notice. Because of men who fought at small battles in the revolutionary war the U.S. won. Then it talked about how weapons have always been in the United States after the Revolutionary War. It even talked about men carrying guns to church on Sunday mornings. When the Civil War came around there were more people in the National Army so not as many other people had to fight. In the present day a lot of people think that we need to get rid of weapons because they are killing people but its not the weapons that kill people its the people who use the weapon to kill the people that are killing them. We will never be able to get rid of all guns because to many people have them and use them for hunting of sport shooting. I'm not sure what the United States should do about gun laws but I know that they will change in the future. Characterization Since there were no real characters in this book I am going to characterize the author. The author had a lot of strong opinions in this book about gun laws and what the constitution says. One being that he things that the supreme court always has the final say, which they do, and he believes that concealed weapons are a good thing. He believes that they keep people safe and protected. Throughout most of the book I agreed with the authors opining so I would sat that I am very much like him and I can relate to him. Recommendation I recommend this book to anybody who wants to learn about gun control or wants to see different points in the argument. Since it is not a very hard book to read I think that it would be a great book for 16 year old males to read. They would learn a lot and they are young enough that they can change there minds. I think I might look for more second Amendment books to read in the future.
