Dee Ellison is catapulted from Earth and ends up in a mysterious alien world populated by an all-male race of ape men. Hoards of ape men who keep humanoid females captive—as sex slaves.
More terrifying yet, the alpha male of the most powerful Hoard is hot on Dee’s trail…

Sometimes, as I'm reading a book, I wonder how the author composed a query letter trying to sell it. Because the premise is so wacky, it's hard to believe a publisher heard the pitch and then said...."This sounds great!" Here's an example.....
Dear Joe Schmo Publishing Co,
I hope you will consider publishing my story. It's a 30 page quickie about a super horny alpha male gorilla alien dude from outer space who kidnaps an earth girl to use as a sex slave, chases after her in the jungle, and then she gets trapped by a super horny alien plant that fondles her sex organs and tries to suck her dry until she goes completely insane (hence the title Dementia), but then the "hero" finds her and boinks her for most of the 30 pages, and then they decide they are hopelessly in love with each other.
I have been a member of the RWA for 14 years, and I live in Ohio with 37 cats and a pot-bellied pig.
Sincerely, Susi Q Author
Dear Susi Q,
We'll take it!
Sincerely, Joe Schmo
The super short quickie (took me about 5-10 minutes to read it, and cost me $4, which was irksome) Dementia was recommended as a "Tarzan and Jane" style book on the Amazon boards. Yep, it had a jungle and a super horny "hero"....and it was definitely a sexy story. It's part of a series, and I'm sure if I had read the rest of this series perhaps this book would have made more sense to me. It was a little too wonky, even for Penelope.
Let me just start by saying this was a fun read! Yet in no way could it be taken seriously. Hilarious and a little rough in structure and story telling. The writing is terrible too, but its a kind of funny terrible. You know when you see a really bad movie, that turns out be great and sort of grows on you because of how crazy and ridiculous it was? Well this is exactly the case! I just went with it and laughed all the way. So I did enjoy the madness! Lets go into detail, shall we?
Delores Ellison/ Dee is trying to survive and keep from being caught by the natives of Dementia. Dee has no recollection of how she ended up in planet Dementia, but since she got there, she tries her best to avoid being caught like the rest of the human women. She doesn't want to end up enslaved just like the rest of them. She knows someone is gaining on her footsteps and he's getting closer each day. The dementians are ape humanoids... The one tracking our heroine obsessively and cursing every day Dee slips away, is General Zaab.
He might look like this in my head... But he actually kind of looks like this. The 3d cover is close but looks weird. He wants her and he'll have her... And he might just get lucky.
I was truly curious about the premise. I also liked the fact that it was an erotic planet of the apes thing. Another thing I liked, is that this time the guy is the ape humanoid and the girl is human. Cause hollywood kind of says it's okay for human guys to date female ape humanoids, but not the other way around. If you don't believe me, do your homework and investigate. I'll show you a few examples of planet of the apes. 1)In the series... 2)In the movie...
So I was pleased with change of view... It's fresh and new. I also enjoyed the heroin's change of feelings towards the end. Very brave and kind of badass. Not romantic, but redeemed her.
The things I didn't like:
*The unnecassary scotish accent of General Zaab... It made him funny not sexy. *The first meeting between our main characters is truly graphic and not to my taste. For some it could be disturbing, but to me it was just unappealing. In a very pervy extreme japanese way... Creative? Maybe... Not my thing really *Another thing was the lack of information.
*No world building. No plot. * Poor romance or attraction build up. *Lousy story telling. and poor dialogue. Funny and absurd, which is good and bad thing.
So to summarize, it was just a bad short story that turned out to be awful and funny. So I don't recommend the Scifi-Mars Needs women-bdsm ape nonsense. I almost wished it was better written, because it had potential to be good. I bid you farewell! Dee is a human catapulted to the planet Dementia, where the men look like the apes from the movie "Planet of the Apes." General Zaab is an ape/man who is chasing her through the jungle. A predatory plant catches her in order to drink her juices. Zaab then takes her from the plant.
Data: Story length: 32 pages. Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: seven plus. Setting: current day planet Dementia. Copyright: 2002. Genre: erotic paranormal science fiction romance.
It’s a short story, only 32 pages. It is also published in the anthology Lost in Trek.
I can relate with most other humanoid characters found in this series, except this one. I can even relate with the human-beast of forsaken planet of Kohr. But this book? I dont know how I can relate with a hero whom physique is like an ape (a very big one) and a slaver. I dont know how the heroine can fall in love with this humanoid who captured her to become her slave. Along the story, there is no story at all, only a explicit details of sex scenes and then VOIILA! the heroine fall in love with the hero and the hero professing his love by make her his wife through a public sex in front of hFor you who are looking for the next story of the characters from the main series, you wont find it here. This is a complete different set of characters. is community. Hopefully the next installment will be more make sense compared to this one.
This is a short story about Lieutenant Zaab (from No Fear) which becomes a General and Dee, a human who is magically transported to planet Dementia to become a sex slave. The story is short that there isn't enough time for any character development. There is a description of hunted/chase story between the two of them that I'd like to ponder on by the author. Anyway, it is a nice, entertaining story that sideways to the stress that is happening on planet Tryston and the other major characters.
Five years after reading this book, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell it was about. I think Ms Black actually started taking her writing seriously, which is never a good thing, when campy and overdone are one's usual m.o. Total plot fail.
While no characters we know (at least main characters) are in this book, one from a previous book was mentioned as this character Zaab was in Jek's story. It was a bit yuckish at first, but the norm for this series, but it turned out alright in the end. I did appreciate the respite from the Q'an Tal men and found it rather hilarious yet true when Zaab compared their women to Tryston females!! Hopefully Dee is correct and she IS having a girl! If so this may be a 2nd important female character born, the first being Zy'an!!
For eight years, I struggled with Alzheimer’s, feeling lost as it stole my memories and clarity. Conventional treatments failed, and I felt hopeless. Then, a friend recommended Earth Cure Herbal Clinic(www.earthcureherbalclinic.com), and though I was skeptical, I decided to try their natural remedies. Slowly, I began to regain my memory and mental clarity. It wasn’t an instant fix, but over time, I felt my mind clear and my sense of self return. Thanks to their treatment, I’m no longer defined by Alzheimer’s. My journey proves that even in the darkest moments, there is hope.
That's it! I've had it with this screwed up series!
Truly, WTF. I think I've given this series (and genre) more than a fair chance but this is getting on my last nerve. The alpha male trope at it's worst.
A nice story telling the tale of Zaab and Dee. Without giving anything away this book can be read as a standalone but it is more than worthwhile to read all of this fabulous series.
The legnth works against this book. In the beginning she's running away, and next thing you know it's a week later and she's pretty much in love with him. Did something big happen in that week or is this Stokholm Syndrome?
Jaid Black never fails to deliver the best written sex. I haven’t read this book for years but I remember loving the story and was ecstatic when I found it again.
Dee (from Earth) get sent to Dementia, a planet of ape/gorrila men who enslave female humans for sex slaves and breeders. She has survived alone in the jungle and highlands evading capture and slavery for a year.
Well that is until those vines that live off c*nt juice finally get her and Zaab uses that to his full advantage. So many orgasms later and Dee submission to her Master lands her right where she wanted to avoid, but once there she figures out no other man can give her sexually what Zaab does.
Up until now only males are born on Dementia but Dee claimes that time has come to an end after she winds up impregnated.
Can be read as a stand alone but better understood if read previous books/stories in series.
Overall: I feel jipped damn it! I was looking forward to this book because it was still alien, but with a whole new twist to it, but sadly i was disappointed. It felt as it this story was more an idea that was never finished. PLEASE FINISH THIS STORY BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW MORE!!!!!!
Characters: Dee & Zaab
Page Turner: yes!
Series Cont: yes!
Recommend: Unless this story gets longer, i wouldn't recommend this book. You could read the whole series and not really miss this book.
It's been a while since I read the first books. I'm thinking I probably want to read them again after reading this one. But I think this one could be read as a standalone.
I know reading this probably isn't a popular decision since all that's going on with the author who owns Ellora's Cave, but I've had this one on my Kindle forever. I do like these books and how the story is written. It is just too bad the actual writer isn't the best person.
This is included as part of the Trek Mi Q'an series although there are no Tryston warriors or Sacred Mates in this book. Zaab (a gorilla man) from No Fear is in hot pursuit of Dee (human). Once he catches her they have sex... a lot... and he makes her his slave. But what happens when the Master falls in love with his slave? This was a pretty good short story and a really quick read.
I read this novella to see what the rest of the series was like....wow is all I have to say.
Not much of a story and plenty of whomp....not sure how to rate this...not exactly what I thought it would be. I may have to read another book...like the first one to see what this is all about.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I guess with it being a short story, there wasn't enough time for the heroine Dee to flesh out but the way she went from being on the run for a year to capitulating within a couple of weeks was a little much. This was okay, not the best.
Jaid black is one of my favourite authors and I love the Trek MiQan books. I can only give four stars on this story as its far too short, which is a pity as I would have really liked a full size book on dementia. But great story.
Alirght....this was sorta random.....It didn't really have anything to do with the other books too. No major plot progression at all. It seemed like it should have been maybe a spin off of the series. It was based the same world but had nothing to do with the charactors we have all started to love.
Thank you jaid black for another great read in this series. Who would of thought gorilla men could be so sexy?? This is a short read just so you all know:-)
Short but standard fare for this series. Must be love/lust at first sight that brings Dee and Zaab together so quickly. Hope there is more about them in later books in this series.
