CONCEPT of the story was great: heroine running away from evil stepfather, changes her name and poses as mail order bride, marries hunky Texas Ranger who is also posing as someone else in an attempt to catch an outlaw - they fall in love, happily ever after.
Loved the hero. Absolutely adored him. Alpha male, dedicated and honest and didn't take any crap from anyone.
I'm on the fence about the heroine. I can understand her running and changing her name, no problem with that. But she goes from virgin on her wedding night to wanting to have sex multiple times a day, right away. Just seemed kind of odd.
The writing was horrible. Stilted and choppy, almost seemed like a first effort but I know this author has many published works. If this is an indication of her style, will not be reading anything else by her.
How this book has gotten so many great reviews is beyond me. There was no character development; two days and the male and female characters were in love? The female character had next to no apprehension about marrying a man she just met. The whole thing played out like a melodrama.
I really hate giving 1 star reviews, but this was so bad. I feel like I got cheated with all the 5 star reviews.
So the blurb sounded interested but there was literally no romance. The characters met, and they were in love. There was no development or situations where there would be tension between them or anything like that.
They got together, two days later they were in love and that was it. 😭 whatttt…
The side story and “the action” - not really action but the melodramatics, I guess, is what took most of the book.
One review mentioned that this unfolded like a soap opera and I could not agree more. This was very disappointing.
Barely anything happens in this book lol, there was so much potential. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it! I'm also thankful that the author stopped calling women *females* like in a couple other books of hers. That was disturbing.
I read it in one day….and awesome love story with lots of twists and turns, but she makes it easy to keep up with all the many characters. Love the way she winds all their lives together. First book by Bobbi Smith, certainly not the last.
I love that this book didn’t linger and got right to the point. Wish it had a little bit more sex scenes than what it did, but it was still a great read.
I read this through Kindle Unlimited. I really debated between 4 and 4.5 stars. I loved this story. A women threatened with a forced marriage takes the place of a mail order bride to get out of town fast. Unbeknownst to her, the man who contracted for the bride is an outlaw who is basically using it and the ranch as a cover for hiding more outlaws. Luckily for her, the outlaw is stopped on his way to the ranch and when she gets there she meets the Texas ranger posing as the outlaw. This a well written historical western with wonderful characters and great story telling. The heat level was a 6 (1=Christian, 5= fade to black, 10= erotica). I've been reading Bobbi Smith for years and I love they are now available on kindle.
