This is probably the saddest volume by far. I think we can sympathize with Ren AND Kyoko here because it is clear Kyoko feels the absence of good parents, or parents at all. Ren’s suffering, on the other hand, does not stem from bad parenting but from some other unknown source. It certainly has to do with “cold-blooded murderers” since he is dreading the role. We can only read on, but oh my. These two are just too compatible aren’t they. And this volume was so heart-warming I felt a slight pain in my chest the entire time I was reading it (I am being so serious right now. It still hurts actually so please pray for me).

This was an amazing read. I really love the story. The story just gets better each volume. In this volume, Ren's history and relationship with Kuu are uncovered. Also, Kyoko is learning how to truly act, how to make the character more of her own. I like Ren and Kyoko are more determined to fight to succeed. Can't wait to read Volume 20 and that it continues to get better. Overall, an incredible read.

This volume focussed pretty heaving on the relationship between Kuu and his child children; his biological child Kuon (Ren), and his newly-adopted son/daughter Kyouko. The "standoff" at the beginning of the volume between Ren and Kuu was amazing, especially with the president there as an audience - the facial expressions he was going through throughout their conversation were just phenomenal.

And having Kyouko's relationship with Kuu advance to the stage where he's adopted her as his child, and she's adopted him as her father, and they both have such a PURE relationship - with her even calling him "father" in front of a huge crowd? I am just in LOVE with their relationship and I need to have 100000x more of this. Okay?

Side note: I am really unimpressed that at the beginning of this volume we got a SMALL amount of Kyouko as Bo, but no therapy chicken. I love therapy chicken ;u;

Kyoko’s relationship with Koo is so cute! I see her already making her future father in law warm up to her … but she’s slow fr how does she not realize anything. There’s so many clues but this girl is clueless! Anyways we better see more of Ren’s parents in the future.

Koo is the best dad ever! It amazing how similar Koo and Ren are, but at the same time different. Both are disciplined in their acting and have a strong passion for their profession, but where one gorges himself on food, the other skips meals without a thought 🤔😂

2021: I still feel this way about Skip Beat! releases. I didn't think 12 years later that it would still be an ongoing series. I think this volume is awesome so :P to 2009 me.

2009: why won't you be released sooner!?!? like now!!
decided waiting is for chumps, and just read it online. not my favorite, but it's classic skip beat, so i can't complain. kyoko really knows how to win all sorts of people over. plus, interesting parental interactions between ren/kuon (corn!) and his family.

I love how nervous Kuu is. It really shows how much he loves his son. :)

In that one scene you can see that Kuu thinks similarly to Kyoko in how he perceives Ren. I find that funny.

Poor Julie. She is desperate to see her son. I feel bad for Kuu too. He gets told daily that she hates him.

Her willing to commit suicide just because she called Ren by name is a bit over the top. But I love that side of her. I also love how committed she is to her acting

Kyoko really knows how to cater to Kuu's stomach. If she and Ren ever get married he will be a very happy father in law.

Worst part - There isn't one, really. I just don't particularly like how Kyok's considered Koo's "son". Why not daughter...?

Best parts - When Koo's about to flick Ren's forehead. Funny. And the whole thing where Ren's making up to his parents. So touching. -sigh-

- da un lato abbiamo il legame con il "maestro", quindi con un professionista del settore, che ha molta più esperienza di lei e che può aiutarla a crescere come attrice. Kuu rimarrà colpito dalle doti di Kyoko, ma troverà subito anche i difetti da correggere - ad esempio, il fatto che la ragazza vorrebbe limitarsi a interpretare solo ruoli che le piacciono. Ma così facendo non c'è evoluzione. Se vuole davvero diventare un'attrice di alto profilo, riconosciuta da tutti, deve cimentarsi anche parti che non catturano la sua attenzione, deve provare il vero piacere di recitare. Non si scappa. E poi non è nella posizione di fare troppo la schizzinosa. Deve accettare la sfida, altrimenti rimarrà sempre ferma al punto di partenza;

Today’s post is on Skip Beat!, Vol. 19 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Kyoko on it looking confident and awesome. As it is the 19th in the series you need to have read the first 18 volumes to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this series and volume. The story is told from third person close of Kyoko and Ren. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- Koo and Lory can't stop meddling in Kyoko's and Ren's lives. Because while Koo is impressed with Kyoko's talent, he knows that she will never be a great actress unless she can overcome her fatal weakness. And Lory knows that Ren's acting is likewise affected by his refusal to face his past. Can the two old-timers give their young protégés a much-needed kick in the pants, or will their plans blow up in their faces?!

Review- Kyoko and Koo are bonding over acting and Koo challenges Kyoko to think about why she does not want to take more bullying roles. She does that then her and Koo talk about how she can grow more. The real reason that Koo came to Japan is to get Ren to make a message for his mother, who hasn’t seen him in five years and is getting desperate to have anything from Ren. That’s most of this volume and that is good as we get character growth and development with both Kyoko and Ren. They are both facing challenges and they are going to overcome them and I can’t want to see it happen. I love this series so much it’s knot even funny.

I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Ohhhh. The big reveal. I have to admit I totally saw it coming. Koo being Ren’s father was quite obvious, but it was still fun to read! I have to say I’m still intrigued by Ren’s past, Nakamura seems to indicate in the story that Ren has been through a lot, but from what we saw so far nothing so terrible has happened to him. Was he so miserable just because he couldn’t grow from under his father’s shadow? Or did he actually go through some traumatic experience? I don’t know, hopefully we’ll know more as the story progresses...
I don’t have much to say about this volume, not too much has happened in it. It was mainly the big reveal, and Kyoko getting better as an actress. I did really enjoy Ren’s parents, I thought they were really kind people that really cared for Kyoko.
I find that Kyoko is the kind of person that even if you don’t get her or don’t like her (though not many people don’t like after they get to know her) you at the very least have respect for her, because of her devotion and her motivation.

I don't know... I guess the current arc is just not hitting for me. It was fine in the last volume, where there's other things going on, and we get a nice amount of "fiery" Kyoko, but it kinda dragged here. The jokes weren't landing as much, and Ren's dad is just not the most compelling character, he's more fun on the periphery where he can be funnier and zanier (similarly to Lory).

I liked learning more about Ren's past, but I didn't enjoy the actual backstory we got, it felt a little lame and underwhelming, but maybe future installments will have more to add to make it better.

I did like the comradery that Kyoko grew with Ren's dad a bit, especially since she never had one of her own. However, I kind of thought the radish/restaurant guy kinda filled that role a bit??

Hopefully things pick up though, this manga is the only thing that I'm reading that's actually good rn haha.

The President of LME never rests and loves to push his employees to the limit with the power of love guiding him! He definitely made sure to include Kyoko in this, as she is the first LOVE ME member! However, the bonus for her is that she gets exposure to a famous actor and gets an experience she won't forget! This volume also adds the backstory for Ren and his family, and I enjoy getting to see behind the curtain of the private Mr. Tsugura! Most of the novel is for the purpose of backstory on Ren, with some cute and funny scenarios thrown in!

This volume was special I must say as it altered with my feelings
In the beginning I was disappointed that the Ren which I saw was not the real, the real one in Kuon but this is what that made this volume special. The way the story went forward, the acceptance and the relationship of Kyoko and her “father” made me emotional (I almost felt like crying because of Kyoko’s relationship with father)
It was a wonderful volume, excited for the next one!
