This is another hot, fun read from Emma Holly!
I didn't like this one as much as Demon's Fire, but hey, beggars cant be choosers ;)

This is a story about a girl named Zoe that can see dead people. And Fairies. She has been able to see them since she was a kid. Everyone thought she was weird except Alex. He loved her for who she was... then he left, in the midst of scandal, and she was devastated.

Years later, she has her own "psychic shop" where she communes with the dead. Her landlord Magnus, is one sexy man. She is secretly in love with him, but he wont give her the time of day. Oh, he's nice and everything, but she wants more. When crazy things start happening in Fairyville and her old flame Alex comes back to investigate, will Magnus come to realize that he wants her for more than just a friend?

This book contains some kinky sex... specifically quite a bit of m/m sex. There is also a m/m/f scene that gets pretty smokin! If you dont like this stuff... well... you probably wouldnt be reading my review anyway would you? ;D

The is paranormal erotica, so if that's not your thing, stop reading now.

Emma Holly is gifted when it comes to writing erotica. The back story was pretty good, and the sex scenes were very entertaining. There's nothing vanilla about this book. Premise: Zoe is a medium and lives in a town called Fairyville in the southwest. There's folklore surounding the town and "psychic" experiences, which the townsfolk have capitalized on, Zoe included. She's secretly in love with her friend and manager, Magnus, but he is with a different woman every month, and never Zoe. As a teen, Zoe dated Alex, who broke her heart and left town (he's a sex addict and cheated on her with a man). Alex is now a PI with his best friend Bryan, and Bryan's secretly in love with Alex. They take a case that brings them to Fairyville, and by the end of the book, both couples are happy, and all sorts of menage combinations have taken place. This is the first book I've read with a m/m storyline, and I think I now understand why some straight women like that subgenre so much.

Holy Cow. This is why I love Emma Holly. This book had an element of fantasy in it (no, not in the sexual way) with fairies and the mystical. Usually I don't love that aspect as much as the vampire/paranormal (yes, there is a difference in my head) but this didn't interfere with some of the hottest sex scenes I have read in awhile!

Consider yourself warned: there is a threesome scene as well as some hot guy on guy action. And more than just in passing. There are a number of detailed scenes and all quite yummy. So if that does offend you, you may want to pass up this book.

Emma Holly is up in my top three authors, and this is why. She gives a good paced story with steamy sex scenes, without losing the plot or getting tiresome. YUMMY!

Zoe Clare talks to dead people... and fairies. Communicating for the dead to the living in Fairyville, Arizona might seem a bit eccentric but she's certainly not the only oddball in town. Her manager—the man she wishes was her own—is a bit quirky too. Magnus Monroe has a lot of secrets, deepest of which is why he can't be more than just friends with Zoe. Bedding a new lady every full moon is the only way to maintain his residence in Fairyville and stay close to her.

When her high school flame and his partner show up in Fairyville to investigate a mother's strange claim that her five-year-old son can't be her flesh and blood, things get even more complicated. Alex's conflicting feelings for the girl he left behind and his best friend lead the trio places both in the investigation and in the bedroom that leave all three wondering just where this is all leading.

I heard so many rave reviews about this one. I've read one of Holly's Upyr series and really love the way she writes, but this one was a struggle. I consider myself pretty open when it comes to reading all sorts of gender pairings but Fairyville was almost too much. I think what made it difficult for me was that there was so very little world building and explanation of why the Fey in this had the sexual tendencies they did. As a reader I can buy just about anything as long as there's an explanation that makes some sense. It came across almost as if the author assumed the readers would all know what her version of Fey should be like.

Plot-wise there was great potential to make this a good book with lots of erotic content. The scenes themselves could have been enjoyable if the worst possible writer's bungle hadn't become really obvious to me. It's commonly said that it is the author's job to SHOW not TELL. There was waaaaaay too much talking during the love scenes. I like dirty talk! But the majority of it wasn't dirty talk it was one character instructing another character in ways that weren't sexy. You can tell a lover to move faster with one word, it doesn't take ten.

So overall, I really thought this one could have been better. Holly has written better! I'd suggest checking out her Upyr series or if you're really interested in some good Fae world building check out Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series.

I got about half way through this book before I decided that even skimming was too annoying. Emma Holly's books are very inconsistent. The good ones have strong plots, interesting world building, introspective (but not whiney) heroes, and strong heroines to go along with the erotica. The bad ones are truly terrible. Fairyville has lame world building, lots of hand wringing by two of the three heroes, and an amazingly forgiving heroine.

The setup is a UF version of a cheesy porn flick. Yes, this is erotica, but having two of the three heroes needing to have sex to survive? One of them has to have sex during the full moon to be able to stay in this world rather than fairie, but he can't sleep with the heroine because "he would have to give her heart back" after the full moon. The other one, Alex, dated the heroine, Zoe, in high school, but refused to have sex with her because she was so "pure" even though she wanted to have sex and she wasn't too young. Since Alex had to get it somewhere, he slept with the football coach (who was only 4 years older than him). Eventually, Alex was forced to admit to the affair in front of the whole town, thus breaking Zoe's heart and humiliating her at the same time. Why would he choose having sex with someone else when he loved Zoe so much? Where does he get the right to override her choices? Even asking these questions is vastly overthinking this book.

Ok, but I wouldn't recommend it unless a reader is eager for a lot of erotic men with men scenes.

The author gives us an interesting view of fairies living in the human world both by choice and also as changelings (babies switched at birth). The story and characters were ok, but I wasn't drawn to them the way I would have liked. One should read this for the sex, not for the story.

STORY BRIEF:
Zoe is human and loves Magnus. She doesn't know he is a fairy. He must have frequent sex with other women to stay in the human world, but Zoe doesn't know this. She just sees him with others and is hurt by it.

CAUTION SPOILER:
Magnus did not tell his secret to Zoe because he feared his fairy mother would harm her if Zoe knew about Magnus. However, after his mother tried to kill Zoe and planned to try again, Magnus still didn't tell her. I did not care for that method of conflict. I also didn't like to see her suffering for two years, watching him with other women. He loved her but stayed away from her, and he didn't tell her he was a fairy.

DATA:
Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: more than nineteen. Setting: current day Fairyville, Arizona. Copyright: 2007. Genre: erotic paranormal romance with homosexuality.

I loved the storyline. I wanted more of the plot. I kept hoping for more... But I felt in the end it was more about the sex instead of the story. Yeah I know it is an erotica but still it had the potential to be an off the wall paranormal. Don't get me wrong I loved all of the Emma Holly books I have read in the past. I just felt this one could have been GREAT. The other side of Fairy wasn't even touched on. I was a little disapointed.
The books is about Zoe Clare a special medium who sees ghosts to the other side. And who helps them talk to their loved ones. Everyone thinks she is a crazy one growing up. Her boyfriend growing up Alex is run out of town. Returns as a detective and he needs her help with his case. Zoe is in love with Magnus a six and half foot hunk of a man that is her landlord. He goes sex crazy once a month with a woman but never with her. She can't seem to get him to notice her. Now that Alex is in town though. Magnus is jealous.

ohmigod... crap. Not sexy. Not interesting. And not even trashy enough to be mildly engaging in the ugh-car-accident-horrified-can't-look-away way.

Not even the promise of boysmut or threesomes was enough to save this for me. "Arrogant, uber-sexed, irresistable fey" is a cliche that just turns me off. Not to mention the author bit off way more than she could chew... too many plotlines poorly reconciled, imho. She should have stuck with Mr. Denial and his lady-obsession and all the ways they could have almost-sexed without actually doing it rather than throw in Mr. Ultimate Stud and his pining gay lover to solve their problems with surrogacy... *sigh* That got more than a bit much for me.

Drivel. Avoid.

--> The only thing I wanted more of was better exploration and development of the small fairies and their rebellion plotline. Oh well. They got a whitewash job at the end...

Too much focus on the sex and not enough on the story and characters to really work for me as a Romance.

Written quite eloquently but my interest just keeps waning. Disliking pretty much every character that has stepped onto the stage so far.
Pity, Holly writes erotica very well and I have liked some of her books very much.

Did not know going into this book it was erotica, I like the genre but it was a little bit of a surprise. And then the book doesn’t have a plot it’s just different pairings of characters having sex. There was also a m/m story line which was a not bad but a plot would have been nice.

This was the first book I´ve ever read by Emma Holly and I´m still undecided if Ishould give it a three or four stars rating. I tend to give a 3,5 but since this isn´t possible (yet) and I´m in a good mood and feeling generous today I give it 4 stars! There were some storylines I wasn´t really very fond of (and that was not the m/m –sex) and there were storylines who made my heart sore. First I thought, oh no, not again such a novel with not much plot but much sex but then the more I read the more I was captivated by the tragic love quadrangle only to be disappointed again by some ridiculous events e.g. proxy spell – I really didn´t like how Magnus used Bryan in this case even if he tried to justify his action that he´d asked for Bryan´s approval, no this scene didn´t feel right for me and was quite questionable in my opinion. Second how he even after the fairy queen attacked Zoe didn´t tell her the truth, I couldn´t really understand his far-fetched reasons for avoiding it. By now you may have noticed that I didn´t like the main character Magnus overly much and although the author attemped to portray him as a wonderful character with strength and gentleness he seemed rather colorless to me in comparision to Alex and yes - my heart belonged to Alex. I found him by far the more interesting character, his inner conflict about his just blossomed relationship to Bryan and his old and never forgotten love Zoe was one the highlights for me. Somehow Fairyville set me on a rollercoaster between thinking that the plot was simple and not very exciting (honestly the supposed mighty Fairy Queen was really fast falling off her throne and Magnus problem was miraculously solved rather casually) and wallowing in the depth of the emotions the characters felt and had to go through to untangle their own unresolved feelings for each other. I would have liked a bit more suspense and action between the absolutely hot and steamy sex scenes but unfortunately I can´t always have what I want..

3.5 stars for plot and 5 stars for erotic & romance.

To be fair, the plot was decent so if you're looking for a "distraction" book for gym or destressing, this is it. Be warned, it's hot, steamy, sensual, erotic and romantic! I loved the dialogue, the characters and heartfelt storyline.

Sweet Zoe loved her sweet-kind manager-advisor-landlord, Magnus, for the last two years. To make things worst, once a month, she'd hear stories of different bedmates and the raunching time they'd shared. What she didn't know was he's in love with her too but couldn't make it happened. Magnus was a Fey and there were rules to follow if he wanted to remain in human's realm, to remain with Zoe...even when it meant to admire her from afar. When her firstlove-exlover-sexiness Detective Alex came back into town for a case, he changed everything. Alex's infatuated with Zoe, longed to explore-reconnect-renew his passion with Zoe while facing his fall-from-grace situation with the town. Well Magnus and Alex's partner, Bryan, weren't going to play nice, standing or lying down (wink wink). To love and know all the pain-joy-hope-forgiveness, to fight, to have patience and trust, to live out one's fantasy and a chance to explore all facets in order to know who you are and who you want to be with...doesn't really happened in real life but it did in this storyline and that's what made it so fun to read.

This was my first book from Emma Holly and it won't be the last.

Fairyville is a weird town.

Zoe Clare is a medium that has a small shop where she helps people get in touch with their loved ones. She has a mad crush on her manager Magnus but can't get him to notice her and she hates that he takes a new lover every full moon and never choses her. Truth is he wants her but can't have her because he is Fey and can't tell her the truth of his situation in her world.

Then her old boyfriend Alex comes back to town and brings with him his PI partner Bryan to investigate a case involving a posible changling. Bryan is in love with Alex and Alex likes him too but still has feelings for Zoe. Zoe's relationship with Alex/Bryan makes Magnus jealous and forces him to tell her the truth.

This book involved M/F/M and M/M scenes but they were not over the top. Pretty steamy book.

This was very enjoyable, I loved the story and writing!

I was surprised at the explicit M/M sex tho ... lots of sexy/erotic paranormals out there, but this is the first paranormal with such graphic M/M sex *blush*.

It did fit in with the plot and the entire book was one of the better written books I've read lately. I kept hoping for a sequel as I read ...

So if very erotic sex is not your cup of tea, be forewarned!

Emma Holly is one (more) author I keep trying to read more of ... " ... so little time!".

Emma Holly brings out the extremes in me - I tend to either love it or hate it. This is definitely one of the loves - if you could imagine Jennifer Crusie writing an erotic, this is it. Wacky, Tinkerbelle style fairies, a psychic that talks to dead people, old lovers, new lovers, [sometimes both at the same time:], and let's not forget changeling babies and the psycho Queen of the Fey...this book melds them all together with a fine and humorous hand. If m/m and multiple-partner sex bothers you - stay away.

This book wasn't good and wasn't bad. Just blahhhhhh. It had potential but never got good. I don't know what to say. It should have been good, but it just wasn't. There were some funny phrases that made me laugh when it probably shouldn't have, lol. Example : talking about how "my pussy has been pummeled", lol. Doesn't sound to fun to me. The thought of someones lady bits getting "Pummeled" just doesn't sound like a pleasant experience.

I have heard that Emma Holly's other books are very good so I will check out her other ones.

It was definitely hard to tell who the romance was between- it seemed to keep changing. There was a threesome with the heroine and two men who were both NOT the hero. There was more time spent on M/M scenes (including one with the hero and a member of the threesome) than on the romance between the two main characters. I couldn't keep reading because it became highly unfeasible between the paranormal aspects and the sexual musical chairs. I normally like Emma Holly's brand of sensuality but this time it just didn't make sense.

I really liked this book. It was nice to read something a little different as in the hero being Fairy. Don't think I have come across another title yet that involved 6ft5 hunky fairy men. LOL. The story consists of a main story involving m/f and a side story consisting of m/m. I liked both sets of "heroes" and how they all come together into one main story. I however felt the ending was a little sloppy and rushed but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

A super hot read.

The plot was thin, and more than a little far-fetched (even for a paranormal erotica novel), but it was easy to overlook the negatives because of how incredibly well Emma Holly does hot and steamy. The sex scenes are intense, plentiful, and about as far away from straight vanilla as you can get.

Will definitely be reading more from this author.

Low Simmer...

I had a constant low simmer instead of burning heat for this story. The sex scenes were hot but the book itself just wouldn't stay in my hand. The men were crying or fighting tears about half the book and it was just to sensitive for me. I wouldn't get the next one...

If you're looking for a quick, easy ready, this is for you.

A word of warning:
- There is a lot of m/m, so if this isn't your thing, you'll definitely be skipping a good part of the book
- There is some tension, but not much. It's overall quite cute and the various problems resolve themselves easily at the end.
- Most of the magic isn't explained. I'm especially confused by the wishing-well-creature.
- I couldn't connect to Magnus. He was very one-dimensional. And he cast a spell on 2 characters that pissed me off : he basically robbed them of consent. Sure, they would've said yes if they had known, but it doesn't matter: they weren't aware of what was happening. This wasn't "for Zoe", as he thinks, it was for his own needs since he was the only one that knew it happened.
Sorry for the vagueness, I want to avoid spoilers.
- They don't all end up together in a relationship. This is how it builds up initially, so I was disappointed at the end.

Everything is sex, lots of it, but it is an Erotic Paranormal...being as I read a paperback I wasn’t prepared for the MM action as it’s never hinted at on the covers or in the synopsis, although perhaps should have expected a little as it does mention Her current man and an old flame. That being said I did like the characters. I like the paranormal aspect, spirits/ghost, the fairies.

This is one of my favorite of Ms. Holly's stand alone books. I love Magnus, Zoe, Alex. and Bryan and the interplay of their relationships with each other. Add the Little Fey crew and it just gets better. Ms Holly is one of the best erotic writers there is. Nothing seems overdone or unnatural. Love this book.
