About the author

Masashi Tanaka (田中政志) is a Japanese manga artist best known for Gon, his silent manga starring a miniature dinosaur. He began publishing Gon in 1991. He later worked on the game Street Fighter EX.

This one was crazy with the arachnophobia sized spider, spore mushrooms, ants and all the insects. Quite cool to see the world underground illustrated!

What to say about this book: OMGSQUEESOFULLOFTEHCUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, now that I have that out of my system, it really is the most adorable little book. Tiny orange dinosaur goes on an underground adventure with a groundhog and a coyote who is going to rescue his or her cub from a giant spider. There are no words, but the details in the drawings are amazing and convey a host of emotions and thoughts.

Tyrannosaurier Gon begibt sich auf die Reise durch die Welt der Tiere. Die Erde tut sich auf und verschluckt ihn. So wird Gon unfreiwillig zum Höhlenforscher. Was da unten in der Dunkelheit alles kreucht und fleucht. Nichts für schwache Nerven! Geht mit Gon auf Safari in wunderschönen und atemberaubenden Bildern! Und das ganz ohne Text!

Auch dieses Cover passt wieder sehr gut zum Inhalt des fünften Bandes und zeigt Gon mit seinen Freunden den Erdmännchen. Dabei bestechen auch wieder die vielen tollen Details und machen nicht nur das Cover zu einem einmaligen Erlebnis.



Eigner Eindruck:

In seinem neusten Abenteuer erleben Gon und seine Freunde die Erdmännchen ein ganz besonderes Abenteuer. Denn während sie friedlich in der Steppe verweilen taucht ein Wolf mit seinem Welpen auf und hat die Rasselbande als Futter auserkoren. Während Gon und seine Freunde sich vor dem Fressfeind in der Erde schützen tut sich die Erde auf und verschluckt die Präriehunde samt Gon und Familie Wolf. Als ob das alles noch nicht schlimm genug wäre werden der Wolfswelpe und die Familie Erdmännchen von einer riesigen Spinne geschnappt. Gemeinsam machen sich die ehemaligen Feinde auf den Weg um ihre Lieben zu retten und müssen sich dabei der unterirdischen und glitschigen sowie dunklen Welt stellen. Doch Gon wäre nicht Gon, wenn er sich nicht tapfer bis zum Ziel vorkämpfen würde.

Pfui Spinne. Das war einmal ein Manga den ich nicht wirklich mit Liebe gelesen habe, auch wenn er wirklich wieder sehr gelungen ist. Diese Spinne in dem Manga ist aber so detailliert gezeichnet, dass sich mir allein beim Anblick die Nackenhaare schon hoch gestellt haben. Sieht man von der ekelhaften Spinne ab, dann bekommt man wieder ein wirklich fantastisches Abenteuer aus der Tierwelt. Dabei hat der Autor die Welt der Tiere naturgetreu übernommen und die Eigenarten rund um deren Lebensraum und deren Verhalten studiert. Das Lesen macht einfach Spaß und man fiebert mit dem kleinen Tyrannosaurus und seinen Freunden mit - allein schon wegen dem Grusel- und Ekelfaktor Monsterspinne.

Empfehlen möchte ich das Werk allen Fans von guten Mangazeichnungen. Hier kann man sich definitiv ein Auge holen und so manchen Trick abluchsen. Wirklich genial gemacht.

Even if this wasn't a wordless comic, I would say it's worth checking out for the art alone. The artwork is beautifully detailed, the storytelling is great, and you can easily get lost in examining a single page.

In this volume the little dinosaur makes friends with some prairie dogs and then get caught up in an underground adventure trying to help save a coyote pup from a giant spider. It is truly an epic adventure in a fantastical underground world full of giant bugs and amazing caves.

Seluruh jilid ini berkisah ttg si dinosaurus kecil melakukan petualangan bawah tanah dengan groundhog dan coyote yang akan menyelamatkan anaknya dari laba-laba raksasa. Seperti biasa, tidak ada kata-kata, tetapi detail dalam gambarnya luar biasa dan menyampaikan banyak emosi dan pikiran. Memiliki karya seni hebat yang saya kaitkan dengan seri ini dan saya tidak menyesal membacanya (membaca ulang sebenarnya setelah bertahun-tahun hahah), tapi ini bukan cerita Gon favorit saya.

This is definitely the strangest and creepiest volume so far. Cave dwelling habitat I suppose. The poor wolves always seem to get the worst of it!

This whole volume contains only one story about Gon going on an underground adventure, and it's alright. Has the great artwork I associate with the series and I don't regret reading it (rereading it actually after many years), but it's just not my favorite Gon story.
