Under normal circumstances, no woman as stunning as Barbara Hilson would have trouble finding a man. But Barbara's requirements are far from normal. She needs someone who will take complete control; someone who will impose himself so strongly upon her that her will dissolves into his.
Fortunately, if she can't find a man to give her what she wants, Barbara has other options: an extensive collection of bondage equipment, an imagination that knows no bounds, and, in Sarah, an obliging and very debauched friend.
This is an erotic novel that covers some bondage and discipline tropes. It is largely a decent read. I have some issues with some of the lesbian scenes. They feel as if they are written for the benefit of a male audience.
I have a slight problem with how some of the stuff was negotiated or at least the protagonist's thoughts. It seems to be inconsistent. But this is in some ways, a one handed reader for the kinky set. I guess you have to allow a little bit of latitude.
Characters not as well developed as in some of his previous works. Some good, inventive, and interesting lesbian bondage scenes, mixed in with hetro scenes- little biased to the male fantasy side, woman on woman, but better balanced than most works. The ending I felt was rushed, but it sort of made sense. Did not like the description "Bondage or BDSM groupies", perhaps that is just me. My biggest gripe is how dangerous some of the activities. Yes it's fiction, however with the popularity of 50 shades, and erotica gaining more readers, and therefore more folks trying and experimenting. Without proper guidance there could be serious consequences, and injuries if someone tried to replicate many of the actions described in this novel. G C Scott is overall a good a writer of erotica, but needs to temper his scenes with common sense, and the BDSM mantra "Safe, Sane, and Consensual." and in many cases one or all were missing which is why the two stars. I am not suggesting he turn his novels into just romantic outings, he has too many good BDSM scenes for that, just to review-does it follow "Safe, Sane, and Consensual". Play safely.
