(im just gonna use this first vol to review the whole series) but ohhh my god i've never read a manga that had such well written characters before with clear motives and development, though i have no clue if they are historically accurate as i didn't clock in that it was about real people until gogol showed up... gulp... so im just gonna pretend they are fictional. natalia, even though i feel like other reviews hated her(?), was very sympathetic in my eyes, having her own beauty as a weapon while she tries to find her real self. i wished desperately that her and pushkin did divorce because he held her in such a divine regard that it was too painful to see... you cant just say you love her from the bottom of your heart then act controlling with her and only really show your "love" through harsh sex. no wonder she couldn't requite his feelings!! anyway i feel like she was entitled to some of her selfishness, especially in regard to her husband as he was even worse. and d'anthes was so interesting. sure he was annoying at times, causing me to sneer at his actions at times, but i can't really blame him for acting childish as well when he was being controlled just as natalia was, being seen as a perfect marble statue. actually, what was up with him and his adopted father?? WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT MAN?? like... is this true... is this really based on irl... why did bro almost rape him multiple times 😥😥🙏 d'anthes should've simply stabbed him and gone to elope natalia... that would've been my perfect ending, especially since their romance was so much more genuine! they truly loved each other's flaws and that was beautiful (+ consensual sex!!)(++ same age and actual chemistry) anyways... im not really good at detailed reviews i just found that it was an enthralling read that felt so real (i mean it technically is but shhh) and i will really miss reading it. i can't really say anything bad about it; the art was beautiful (love you chiho saito), the characters even beyond the love trio were great too (besides the adopted father... my favorite was definitely vyazemsky (in terms of fictional character im not sure how he was in real life) he was amazing) and im definitely going to read the real pushkin's work (and more of saito's) going forward 🙌

Incredibly entertaining manga, isn’t deep and it’s not trying to be the best josei manga ever, it’s just a lite reading with great illustrations, some historical references and cool Pushkin’s poem extracts.
It’s maybe too romantic but as I mentioned before it’s entertaining.
Hiks...
