Chrno Crusade, Vol. 2
How Sister Rosette and Chrno became a team! This volume begins with a flashback to the childhood of Sister Rosette and how she and her brother Joshua met the demon Chrno. Joshua, blessed with the gift of healing, joins the Magdalan order. A demon named Aion tempts Chrno with the gift of a horn which will give him back his demonic power. Chrno refuses, and the horn is given to Joshua-who begins to grow more and more demonic! This prompts Rosette to make her contact with Chrno so that Chrno will have enough power to fight Aion and possibly save Joshua. Back in the present, a demon possesses the angel Azmaria. Getting rid of the possession forces her to summon so much power that her wings come back.

Second tome où il va être question du passé de Rosette et de sa rencontre avec Chrno ainsi que son frère Joshua.
Encore une fois, un rythme très prenant, on commence à voir les liens que existent entre Rosette et Chrno et ceux qui se tissent doucement avec Azmaria.
Les dessins sont encore une fois très parlants, bon les scènes de combats toujours un peu brouillonnes par contre mais c'est l'époque qui veut ça. Toujours est-il que cette relecture me conquit toujours et l'intrigue est toujours aussi captivante.
Si vous aimez les démons vous allez être servis.

Krásná kresba, která si po celou dobu držela svoji kvalitu. Bylo dost překvapující, že hezky vypadala již od začátku, což se moc nevidí. A líbilo se mi, že z démonů udělala oškliváky, ale asi ani neměla jinou možnost, protože kdyby byli hezcí, tak by je nemohla zabíjet, kdy se jí zachce. Což se i potvrzuje tím, že hlavní démoni vypadali hezky.
Příběh mě moc nebavil, protože jsem se nemohla nějak vžít s postavami. Dokonce ani hlavní hrdinové mě moc nezaujali, ale je faktem, že mě ze všech charakterů zaujali nejvíce.
Objevovala se i zde poměrně ohraná klišé, které jsem opravdu četla již několiksetkrát. Naštěstí to byl zrovna ten typ, jenž mi zas tak tolik nevadí.
Přiznávám, že jsem moc příběh nepobrala. To kam se ubíral, mi přišlo divné a nudné. A vše co se zde odehrávalo taktéž. (Možná to je tím, že si to už moc nepamatuji, jelikož jsem lenoch a tohle píšu deset dní po přečtení, že?)
Očekávala jsem i nějakou romantickou linku mezi Rossetou a Chronem (Nechápu, proč se nejmenuje "Chrono" jako čas a ke všemu by se to i lépe vyslovovalo a pamatovalo :D)A nic moc se mezi nimi nestalo. Maximálně jsem se dozvěděla tragický backstory Chrona a jeho bývalky. :D Možná je to dobře, ale jelikož mě příběh celkově moc nebavil, tak je tu šance o pozvednutí na lepší úroveň.
Oceňuji poměrně originální myšlenku, která mě i zaujala, ale očividně ne na tolik, aby to zlepšilo můj pohled na tuhle sérii. Koncept s hodinami, reprezentující váš zbývající čas a výměna životní síly (:P) za moc, se mi líbil, jelikož se nikdo nestal přesílený jen proto, že se to zrovna hodilo.
U obálek mám konfliktní pocity. :D Opravdu se mi líbí, jak jsou nakreslené a co je na nich vyobrazené, ale hrozně se mi nelíbí ta barevná kombinace. :D Teda až na šesté volumko, tam je to celkem v pohodě.

Starts off with a couple of unnecessary "nuns taking a shower in full colour" pages, but after that, that type of fan service takes a well-deserved vacation.
This volume is all about Rosette and Chrono's backstory with Joshua. I don't particularly care about him, and I'm not sure why, as his character type usually interests me?
Azmaria has stepped into the role of third wheel, changing the Chrono/Rosette duo dynamics somewhat. Not sure how I feel about this yet, maybe she'll be like Eve from Black Cat and turn into a valuable asset/interesting sidekick, but so far I'm not sold.
I do still like the way this manga takes Christian iconography and changes it into the most mangaesque, what-even-is-religion version of Catholicism I've seen since Hellsing.

What's kind of weird is that the manga tells of how Chrono and Rosette met, and has some stuff before the whole training militia thing, while the anime doesn't exactly tell you straight out how they met and it has Joshua fighting a lot later.
Joshua almost looks like he would be older than Rosette, which is really weird. He seems to have matured a lot too, but almost naive too because Ion is 'lord' Ion to him. :/
Still trying to figure out who that other girl is, (forgot her name...) and why Joshua allows her to be around him.
It was kind of disturbing when he sends her away to make coffee after all those monsters came to fight Ion, and when she came back everything to the horizon was a disgusting bloodied mess. AND THEY ACTED CASUAL ABOUT IT!!!!! Then the girl licked his hand because he cut it, and I'm just like:
O-O ehhhhhh.... BLARG.
Great manga though! (And I think it may be better than the anime).

Chrno Crusade (no it's not a typo, that's how they put it on the Japanese title... it was a typo there but it got published that way, so us old school hard fans keep to it!)
If you are a fan of manga, and like good stories with lots of back drama, beautiful art, and sexy bishounen guys with wings (uh huh!), then this is a must-read. I mean, it is my absolute favorite all-time manga.

We got splendid color pages in the second book again, several new characters are introduced and there's a feeling that more interesting things in this story featuring angels and demons have yet to come.

Wir erfahren die Vergangenheit von Rosette und ihrem Bruder Joshua. Wir lernen wie sie Chrno kennen lernten und wie ihre Vergangenheit ihr heute verändert hat. Zudem beginnt die Story so richtig und Asmaria ist nach einer Portion Aktion/Emotionen auch mit dabei.

The art in this manga is good. I enjoyed the back story in this volume that setup the adventures for future volumes. The powers of Rosette's brother are interesting and is a great dynamic to setup of the three split on different sides. Looking forward to more in the next volume.

This series just got more interesting! A tragic backstory, a prodigal son, and stolen demon horns!
I wasn't sure if this series would pan out but now I'm hooked.
