Ransom and Britt attempt to settle into a new life, but a dreadful threat is constantly hanging over their heads.
The settlers in Tucson know their time is limited. An invasion is underway.
Peggy is adamant they can destroy the Glass, but it will take a trip to another time and place to ensure it remains off.
Cedric, under a cloud of doubt, must decide where his true allegiance leans.
There is hope. A military base with something that could change the tides of their future.
No one seems to have remembered the base exists, but they search for their salvation. Joel is determined to finish the battle before it begins, but his chances of survival are bleak.
At 62% into this third book in the series I just couldn’t do it any more. I thought that they just should shoot any Cedric they came across. Too many characters, going too many directions. I really liked the first book in the series. This time I skipped to the end so that I could find out who lived.
The end of the glass as we know it. It was a long journey for Will, Peggy, Drake, Nia, Britt, Ransom and Chrissy’s. This was a twisted and forever unwinding of a story. Just when you think you figured out each persons story, Nathan throws another curve ball that keeps the pages turning. Of the three in this series, I couldn’t put this one down. I think what really makes this series, is I genuinely did not like characters and kind of wished they weren’t in the story like Cedric. I really enjoyed getting to know more about Horace and wish we had more of his story in the other two books. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first in this trilogy but The Secret Base made this series worth reading.
I enjoyed reading the conclusion to this series. Our heroes are moving from ne Earth to another via the Glass that they are still trying to determine the hows and whys of. And finding a group of people who have premonitions of the future via different means was interesting. But who to trust? Cedric is a big unknown with all the different copies of him from the various Earths. And how much does everyone know and isn't saying. Rather hated for the story to end. Thanks, Nathan Hystad, for another great read.
This has to be one of the best series I've read in years. It kept me reading, long after my eyes began to glaze over. The protagonists are plenty, with some a tad questionable. The antagonists aren't confined to the Aliens, or Visitors. Or ...? Their struggles and work to keep civilization going is remarkably realistic. this series fits my "Theater of the Mind" perfectly, as I was able to visualize the action and characters easily. This was a Great read! Bravo!
So many surprises! It was a near miracle that anyone survived the glass, the bombs, the aliens, and the rugged lives they were forced to live. Most of humanity had been killed when the glass arrived. People thought to be friends, weren't. It was touch and go if any of the survivors would be able to withstand a full on invasion by angry aliens, with far more advanced weapons. The magic of NH prevailed and not all was lost. Another good series by an excellent author.
Received as an ARC, this is an honest review. The masterfully eloquent series ends but not without the most explosive secrets breaking free and bringing one final challenge to those lives altered by The Glass. Fighting for humanity is not without the cost of sacrifices as Cedric, Ransom, Brit and the others discover... but are they ready to make that choice? Nathan Hystad continues to demonstrate that his recipe of putting humanity through epic struggles allows the reader to find hope even in the darkest of hours. Highly recommended.
The ending of this entertaining series is here as they search for the secret base and the way to destroy it. Very entertaining and fun to read amid the action, danger, surprises and interesting characters. Had to kept reading to the end to see how it all played out and how the secret base is found and who destroys it. Will the good guys survive to the end is also the question. Enjoyed it all
What an incredibly imaginative, fast-paced adventure! The premise is frightening and leaves you wondering, “What if…?” You will be drawn to these well-developed characters as you agonize over what lies ahead for them. And like all of Hystad’s books, this series is very well written.
The author gives us an abundance of fleshed out characters people we can care about and cheer for. The plot will keep you guessing with twists and turns and revelations. I couldn't put it down and eagerly awaited the next installment. Sorry to see it end!
I'm glad that worked out. still couldn't figure out what Cedric was really about. glad all the main characters could carve out a life after everyone else being killed
This series held me from the start and it just got better with every book. The characters became real for me . I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say, read this series. It's now my favorite.
Complete with dog and lovable child. Aliens and strange worlds. Lots of characters in the cast and fun keeping track of them all. For all that a good sci-fi story. Suspend your credibility for a while and enjoy.
The Secret Base is the third and final book of The Glass series and I will miss these marvelously entertaining characters. The writing is well done with tons of action. I throughly enjoyed the entire series and highly recommend it.
A thrilling conclusion to a wonderful series, with surprises to the very end. Cedric continues to cause chaos, while everyone else works towards a solution. The more we learn, the more surprising it is.
Good review. Kept you thinking about each one of the many characters and how their actions would affect the end. I kept reading it as it kept my interest and peaked my thoughts of how I might react in each character's position in the book. Good job.
In this the concluding part of the trilogy we finally learn the truth about “The Aliens” and the why and wherefore behind their invasion. A lot of things are tidied up and loose ends resolved.
I really enjoyed this series. The different dimensions and the number of characters required that one pay close attention but it was so worth the hard work. I commend the author for his attention to detail in bringing the book to life. Great job!
Best of the series. Finally we get aliens! I loved the dimensions jumping, the time travel, the whole glass thing resolved. Great characters and great pacing. Overall - a fantastic end to the series.
A great ending... I guess. I feel this book did a lot of the heavy lifting for the series though, but also some how this book didn't really change anything. It all happened the way it was predicted to.
I really loved this series! The character development was the best I have read in quite some time! Nathan Hystad has become one of my new favorite authors!
