Although this is just an adaptation of two early episodes of the hit show, 'A Portrait For Troian' and 'Play It Again, Seymour', this is still a must read for Quantum Leap fans as it paved the way for the much superior original novels that followed.
I was much more interested in the first half than the second. I wish they'd expanded the Troian episode into a whole book. Seems to me there is plenty there. Not bad as far as novelizations go, though Sam's language was a little saltier then it ever was in the series.
This is an adaptation of two early episodes of the original Quantum Leap series. It's a decent blending of two episodes, and shows how little had been revealed about Sam in the first season of the show. It's a decent novel, although many of the later ones are better. While I'm enjoying the new tv show, I do miss the original and still hope Sam's going to show up at some point.
Another great novelisation, it appears only a couple of books were written directly from epsiodes while all others appear to be stand alone stories.
The two epsiodes depicted are several apart in the series so im unsure why they were chosen in particular, both are actually my least favourite kind of episodes, genre specific, the gothic house and the noir detective episode. Don't get me wrong I like the idea but reenatcing genre tropes sort of takes the emphasis out of the emotional character journey of better epsiodes.
Despite this personal preference I still found the book captured them perfectly and in some ways enhanced the experience as you can spend more time on the actions, mannerisms and details of the characters.
