this isn't high art, but god bless USC and Tom Price for assembling all of the pertinent primary source material about the greatest year in Gamecocks football history. a fun walk down memory lane, as well as an easy read that probably clocks in around 2-2.5 hours.
I love my Gamecocks, and Price is an acknowledged super fan, but I was disappointed in this effort, produced right after one of the most glorious (and ultimately frustrating) seasons in Gamecock football history. I have a major dislike of so many "sports" reporters, though many are excellent, in that quite a few are simply not great writers, as I felt was the case in this overview of the season. It was repetitive and poorly put together, as if Price felt his readers could not recall what he wrote the chapter before, if not a page or two. And he didn't really seem to capture the wonder of the games, the flow. I almost feel guilty criticizing anything about the Garnet & Black, especially this year of Fire Ants and Magic. But alas. . .
