The Philadephia Inquirer named Nancy Bartholomew's first Sierra Lavotini novel, The Miracle Strip , one of the year's best mysteries and Romantic Times calls Sierra "a magnificent, take-no-prisoners heroine."

Now, the exotic dancer again proves herself a pro as she strips down to her G-string and searches for a killer...

The only thing hotter than the supercharged engines at the Dead Lakes Motor Speedway is the special appearance by Sierra and her friend Ruby Diamond. But before the day ends, Sierra will be pinched black and blue, seeing red when she spots her cop-boyfriend kissing another woman-and shocked white when she stumbles upon Ruby's dead body. Now, to catch a killer, Sierra must risk her hide and-even more dangerous- expose her vulnerable heart...

I was looking for a series like the Stephine Plum series. I found Nancy Bartholmew's "sierra" and feel this is BETTER then Stephanie Plum. Sierra needs help but can also take care of her self, whereas Stephanie has become somewhat weak as time goes on. The "stripper" character , I feel , is totally believable .
The mystery is also written better, there is actually a mystery. Granted shes not an Agatha Christi, it is still an easy read, but enjoyable.
Unfortunately, St. Martins, the publisher, didn't choose to continue the series and they hold the rights to the Strip series.
Please WRITE ST.MARTINS and beg them to bring this series back!

I remember enjoying the first in this series. This second installment just wasn't doing much for me. It felt disjointed. I'll give the third a try - I do like the main and supporting characters.

A new dancer has started at the club and Sierra takes her under her wing. Soon they are good friends and work together at a special appearance at the local speedway. When the new girl is murdered, Sierra is determined to find her killer. She is in a developing relationship with a cop but he is keeping secrets from her and shows up randomly at her house. Sierra must separate the truth from lies so that she can find the killer, before her own life is endangered.

Really 2.5 stars. It was an okay read, but I doubt I will pick up any more in the series.
