Margit Sandemo...here we go again.
The name of the series (Polish edition) can be translated to "The Secret Of The Black Knights", or simply "The Black knights" when translated directly from Swedish.
The first book (Polish edition) is titled "Sign".
I picked up this book blindly without researching it beforehand. I'm a bit disappointed that it's set in the modern times, I expected actual knights. However it does refer to the past, and it's interesting enough.
The story is set in 2000. It's about a family lineage where every first-born dies at the age of 25. If someone remains childless by the time they die the curse moves on to their relatives sisters,brothers ect.
The main character is called Morten and his 25th birthday are approaching.
How are the knights connected to the story? Read to find out!
I'm also enjoying some spanish elements implemented in the story as I'm currently learning that language. It helps me learn new words every now and then.
In the end I'm unable to rate this book too high. It was all about the build up, character introduction, throwing a lot of information at the reader.
Nothing too eventful happened, the dark elements in this book were pretty tame compared to other books written by Margit.
It did not meet my expectations, the ending gave me flashbacks to the other series.

Jakie to było ZŁE.
Nagroda za najbardziej żenujące dialogi.
Co najmniej nominacja do nagrody za najgorzej budowane napięcie.
Za zakończenie nie nagroda, nawet w stylu powyższych, a zwyczajnie kara - brak rozwiązania czegokolwiek, za to wprowadzenie kolejnej zagadki na stronę przed końcem. Jak Hollywood gdy idą na łatwiznę, bo hajs się musi zgadzać.
Kiedyś oglądałam wypowiedzi scenarzystów Harrego Pottera, opisujących jakie zabiegi stosuje się aby sprytnie dialogiem uzupełniać widzowi wiedzę. W tej książce autorka stwierdziła, że wszystko rozwiąże słabym dialogiem. Jeden z hitów - zamiast napisać że postać szła po ciemku do piwnicy, ostrożnie, trzymając się ściany, otrzymaliśmy jakże wiarygodny tekst wypowiadany przez postać - "pójdę do piwnicy, będę musiał być ostrożny bo jest ciemno a schody są strome, będę szedł wzdłuż ściany" (przytoczone z pamięci, być może przeinaczone przez 50 innych takich momentów w książce).

Książka o chodzeniu w tą i z powrotem, snach i przewidzeniach. Mnóstwo czytania znikających pergaminów, pamiętników i praktycznie brak akcji. Książka jest pomyślana jako wprowadzenie do całej serii, tak więc wszystkie wątki pozostają otwarte. Niestety fabuła jest kiepsko nakreślona, w zasadzie nie za bardzo wiadomo, o co w tym wszystkim chodzi.
Sparaliżowany chłopak Morten prosi byłą przyjaciółkę Unni o pomoc w rozwikłaniu rodowej zagadki. W rodzinie Mortena wszyscy pierworodni na przestrzeni wieków umierali w wieku 25 lat, co znaczy, że Mortenowi nie zostało już wiele czasu. Wkrótce dołącza do nich kuzyn Antonio, którego starszy brat również zmarł w niewyjaśnionych okolicznościach w dniu swoich 25 urodzin. Prześladują ich mroczne cienie, czarni jeźdźcy i całkiem żywi ludzie z ich własnej przeszłości.

Fabuła całkiem ciekawa gdyby nie takie okropne wykonanie i straszliwie toporne nudne dialogi.

Tyckte den var lite rörig och fick inte riktigt grepp om berättelsen. men den är iaf bra skrivet, tycker om Margits skrivsätt 😊

Den här boken började ganska lugnt, men det tar inte lång tid innan huvudpersonerna blir utsatta för otäcka, oväntade och helt oförklarliga saker.
Jag tror inte riktigt att det här var en bok för mig, så vi får se om jag kommer att läsa några fler böcker i serien.

Not as smooth as her writing is usually. Sandemo writes best when history is involved, present time is not as good. The conversations are awkward, but I hope it will pick up as the series progresses. It isn't bad, just doesn't compare to her earlier works.

Not quite up to Isfolket and Heksemesteren standard, but it has that essence of Margit Sandemo that we all love. The humor and the insight. Definitely worth reading
