This book gave me a straight-forward, easy to understand explanation of the political and social situation leading up to, during and after the 1917 Russian Revolution. It taught me information that I should have learned in history class but didn't. I appreciate the maps, timelines and mini-bios of key personalities. Does not go into deep details, but provides a concise overview that left me a general understanding that I can now build on with more detailed texts. I recommend this book for anyone looking to learn the basics of or review modern political Russian history.

This is the second book that I've read in the "Aftermath of History" series. I'll be reviewing the series for VOYA, after I read one more title. I found this title to be much less compelling than the first one (Sandinista Revolution), I'll write up my review after I read the third book (Anglo-Zulu War).
