Monte Grant III, a private investigator with a healthy trust fund, builds an unlikely squad including his recovering addict secretary with two-year-old twins, his friend the homeless, ex-boxer with a drinking problem, and his client, a lesbian contractor with a nail gun. Throw in a thrash metal bass player who beats his girlfriend and a notorious crime boss/drug kingpin who evades conviction, and the story develops somewhere between Psychology Today and Naked Gun. The improbable character alliances keep you guessing, and laughing, all the way to the chaotic conclusion. The perfect crime? Not even close. But a lot more fun!
What a great book. Fun, exciting and with some great characters. I can even see the movie in it. Great stuff. Give it a go if you like whodunnit/noir/capers/comedy.
