Here's a quick quizz to help you decide if this book is for you:

1. The night you gave your virginity away, were you able to go for another four rounds with your well-endowned boyfriend without bleeding to death?

2. The morning after, did you two have an epiphany, realize you were in love and start planning the future together?

3. Did you think about your future brother-in-law's sex life when you were introduced to him, just because there was "something dark" in his eyes?

4. That same night, while you and your beloved husband-to-be were cuddling in bed, did he reveal all his brother's sexual kinks to you, neverminding that you had just met the guy?

5. If a killer was after you, would you make plans to set yourself as bait without telling your police detective husband-to-be?

If you answered "yes" to all the questions above, you're Moira - the heroine of this book - and you creeped the heck out of me. *shudders*

And if that wasn't enough, this book had some of the strangest dialogues I've ever read. Who talks like that? No one!

Word of warning to all!
I did pick up His Bare Obsession when it was free.

If anyone wants to borrow it, let me know. If you want to buy it, please don't.

I now have a completely new category for my ebooks ("Laughable") and it's not a laughing matter. I am so glad that I managed to get a freebie, because it's soooooooooooooo bad that I was laughing throughout most of the book.

Mind you, it's not the subject matter - a serial killer's set his sights on the h when she interrupts a kill, and sk proceeds to stalk her - but the story itself is written so poorly that I could not stop laughing. (Fortunately. I shudder to think of the damage I would have done if I'd reacted any other way.) And reading it was akin to watching a trainwreck: could not stop.

(O_o)

I give this one full star just because I laughed so hard I cried.

OMG, it's been ages since I read something this bad... There's not a single thing in this book that I liked.
Cardboad characters, no-sense plot and actions, bad writing style, even the sex scenes are flat.
Don't waste your time!!!

Love Lacey Thorn books. This was a previous book of hers that was re-released.

Moira owns her own gym where the main focus is to empower women and teach them self defense. Her and her bestfriend are walking from the gym when they hear something. Moira goes in and sends her friend to get help. This puts Moira on a serial killers radar, he becomes obsessed with her. The help her best friend finds comes in the form of two detectives. One of which is Gil, who knows after meeting Moira that he wants her.

Moira is really stubborn and sometimes does things in this book that really puts her life in danger and since the killer is after her....that's not a great place to be. Because of her past she likes to take care of herself and be able to defend herself, which I completely understand and agree with.

Throughout this book fhe killer is always one step ahead. Very good book and storyline. This book had a lot of what I like in my books, insta-love, saferead.....all of which I appreciate.

Moira is a tough chick gym owner who specializes in self-defense. She walks in on an attack in an alley and the serial killer then targets Moira. Detectives Gil and Ben are working the case, and Gil immediately falls for Moira, and meanwhile Ben is falling for Moira's roommate, Cass. This is one of those books that has more plot than sex, always refreshing. I had a little difficulty with the dialogue, it felt a little forced and stiff in some areas.. Otherwise, good read and the first in a series that looks pretty interesting.

It get's one star, purely for the plot IDEA........ Plot execution sucked, the way the story was written sucked.
I really don't mind the fast paced love at all, as long as you have something to build it on. This love-at-first-sight thing with Gil and Moira, was just ridiculous. The day after he meet her, he takes her virginity, then the morning after he's called his mom to come to town with the family, and grandma's ring as engagement ring... Their dynamic sucked, their love was based on sex, they were not in love, but in lust.
They went hot and cold, hot and cold, hot and cold, all the time, it went from argument to hot sex, which wasn't even that hot.

I get that she wants to feel in control, and wants to feel the empowered woman she is, but when a serial rapist killer has an unhealthy obsession with you, you don't throw a freaking sissy snit and ignore your cop boyfriend, you security father, to go run or just to prove you can take care of yourself. She has no self preservation, what with her idea of using herself as bait without telling anyone...... Mind you that her cop boyfriend and security father, are both ex marines..

Oh and what the heck was she thinking, inapropriate much, thinking of her fiances brother's sex life?????

She was selfish and only thinking of her own needs, not even her own safety, and he was just selfish and posessive, i've never minded possessiveness much before, but i did in this case..

The book was ridiculous, which is a shame when you think about "Waking the Beast" from the Awakening Pride series, Lacey wrote.. That book is awesome.. This book... not so much.

I had a really hard time coming up with a rating for this book. It was not badly written and the story was a riveting one but it just didn't do it for me on several levels. The first is that looking at the cover (yes, I'm a visual learner) I was expecting something very different from what the story turned out to be. I got it as a freebie so I did read the whole thing although I did skim a bit more through parts of it. I found the violent nature of the crimes so well described a bit too much for me. This is why I'm not a fan of CIS type crime drama. Also, it seemed that there were so many underlying issues that Moira had been ignoring for years and to suddenly blurt them out to one person and then share everything with another who she had just met seemed a bit over the top. Further Moria has just met detective Gil and she completes changes everything in her life in days of meeting him. And finally, I think that if I had an encounter with a crazed killer who was stalking me so he could rape and murder me I don't think I would be so eager to explore a sexual relationship with a near stranger.

The biggest irony or maybe lesson to be taken from this story is that no matter how much you know or how well prepared you can still be taken unawares and become a victim. More than one woman in the story had been trained in self defense and anti-victim classes and they were still in danger. In addition a loaded weapon beats self-defense.

Wasn't sure what I was getting into with this novel from Ellora's Cave. I figured there would be some story a lot of hot sex but didn't expect much else. The beginning the novel felt stilted as if written by a high school student. But as you read on the writing got better and you began to connect with the characters. This novel was pretty short tho and left so many unanswered questions that I suspect this is the beginning of a series.

Gil and Moira's instant connect felt a tad forced but as the relationship grew it became more comfortable. I have issues tho with being attracted, then a virgin falling into bed with a cop when they had just met that afternoon, then lo and behold they are suddenly in love after one session of hot sex....all this within the first 12 hours of meeting. He calls his mom the next day and asks her to bring his grandmother's engagement ring...this is after he has known her 12 hours!!..I understand love at first site, I understand lust at first site..but come on ...in love the first night...and thinking of marrying her the next day... it just pushes out the boundary of even my romantic soul excepting.

Two stars for this book...that being said..I did love Gideon's brothers and can't wait to read about them...lets hope for a bit more reality in the upcoming books.

Not to sure about this book. There is a lot of anger in Moria and she seems to go off at all the wrong times.

The is being stalked by a serial killer. This is how she meets her lover Gil Daniels. He is very protective of her which is hard for her since she runs a gym for absued women to get thier lives back. She doesn't like depending on Gil for help but knows she has no choice with the killer on the loose.

I did love the sex, which by the way was like a day after she met him. Oh and did I mention she was a virgin? Of course most hot sexy 24 year old women are. They profess their love to each other and already have plans to marry by the end of this book.

The other charachters are very interesting and I think I will read at least 1 more book in this series because of them.

Meh. It was OK. I felt like a lot of it was telling me rather than showing. "The book was on the table. The table was wood. The table sat next to the bed." And it was insta-love which usually bugs me and it did in this case. There were sweet parts, but it just seemed so trite in a lot of places. And there were some stupid decisions. I mean if her dad is some hot-shot security guy, why weren't there cameras on all the doors to her gym? Why were they even accepting new members while this was going on? I dunno... things just bugged me.

This book was awful. I went into it thinking I would like it because other reviews talked about instalove. I'm all about that, but not like this. This was within 24 hours and they are all ott cheesy...but there was no chemistry between the two characters. She just seems naive since she had the revelation after sex, and he just seem weak. There was nothing really likeable abiut either character though Moira did bust his balls for being unreasonable. I finally had enough when I got bored.

Bad, bad, bad. The dialog was so cheesy to be embarrassing. The plot is ridiculous, don't let me start on the characters. And the writing...*shudder*

I reached mid book out of sheer will, but then I told myself: why? Why should I punish myself with this trash? Most books I choose nowadays aren't "literature" (I binged on that at uni, thank you very much), but still I expect them to be a pleasure, however guilty.

The plot of the story is interesting, but how it was written kind of drove me crazy. The way the author has these people talk! People don't say the things she has them say all the time. The dialog between characters was just plain weird.
Plus, the relationship between Moira and Gil moved so fast it was ridiculous. Let's meet, have sex, fall in love, meet his family, and get engaged in like the course of two weeks....right.
The idea was good, but the execution failed.

Most of this book was good but a lot of it was terrible. Moira was so childish always quick to anger, baiting Gil with other guys including his brothers. The way she acted made me think she only "loved" him because he was her first. Don't understand why the author had to write her as walking around naked so many times. With the way she acted I am surprised Gil even wanted a relationship with her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was far from believable but that wasn't the point! I could pick the book apart like other reviewers have but the point was did it entertain me. Easy answer yes! I loved the characters and the dynamic between the leads. Also lots of supporting characters to look forward to in future books. I am very excited to read more I the series!

Sex was hot! I don't really expect a plot in my romance books so I was suprized that the author tried. Bonus points...Moria and Gil did move fast but I liked that since the sex picked up quick and took off.

Streamy romance, full of murder, strong women, alpha men.
Moira owns a gym. Gil is the detective who is working the case.
Moria is put in Gil's protective custody.

What I found annoying about this book was a heroine who taught self-defense but when the time came to defend herself she couldn't. The book was okay. I think it lack "juice", needed some spicing up.
