Soft, translucent illustrations and a concise, informative text celebrate the life of the red poppies that blossom on the sides of the farmers' grainfields in summer, and are visited by flies, beetles, and bumblebees who ensure the plant's survival.
From seed to flower to seed again, this story of the life cycle of a poppy is STUNNINGLY illustrated by the author. In her note at the back of the book, Lucht shares her painting techniques, and admits that the book took a year to create. It certainly shows in her careful attention to detail.
I wish I could find more online images to share, but trust me - this book is GORGEOUS!
