Born in Tokyo in 1961, Hikaru Hayashi started his activity as a manga artist after graduating from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tokyo Metropolitan University. After working as an assistant, he made his professional debut with the manga Story of Aja Kong, then went on to found the manga and design agency Go office in 1997. Since then he has created more than 250 manuals on drawing manga, many of which have been successful internationally.
I like how this book is quite compact in size, making it convenient to put away and carry with you. There are some practical advice on how to to start drawing manga traditionally, which I found unique and specific compared to other guides I've encountered in the past. Some of the advice was useful but in general, there weren't enough projects for drawing. It's a good book but not as instructional as I hoped.
Nice book, contains a lot of information, but doesn't completely cover the basics. It is, however, handy if you are interested in learning more about how to draw real manga (comics).
Prefect!!! It explains it very cutely (don't think that's a word. Lol!) and really gives you a FIRM idea of how everything is suppose to be, thank goodness it's what I needed. :)
