I really got this so I could read the third book in the series since I had finished the first two and wanted to continue the series. These first three books of The Belt series (Entanglement, Entropy, and Emergence) tell the story of Commander Scott McNabb and the crew of the Hermes, whose survey mission in the asteroid belt turns into a fight over powerful new technology that could shift control of the solar system. Across the books the story expands from a simple discovery to larger conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt, with plenty of action, suspense, and political tension. The characters, especially McNabb and Eadie, get more depth as the series progresses, and the risks feel bigger with each step. It’s a fast-moving, enjoyable series so far that blends science and adventure well, and it leaves you ready to see where the next book takes the story.
