The Nine Magics #2

Tower Mage 2

Rate this book
Defend Hexen, Gain Levels, Acquire additional Towers

Nobody mentioned how hard being a champion on Loral would be. Rico still would've gone if they did though, because his new family is everything to him. The problem is, the damned Shrezen are coming and each wave brings harder armies to defeat. He wanted, no, he hoped for a brain dead legion of zombie type opponents.

The armies that assail the walls of his little outpost are cunning generals leading resolute troops who only care about one thing: defeating Rico and those he holds dear.

Faced with threats around him, and a changing outlook on life, Rico will rise to the challenge in this second installment.

I think I liked this one more than the first book. It's still a bit weird and confusing in the dialogue at times (I feel like I've missed something), but it seems I've acclimatized. Overall I like the MC, and I'm interested to see what the latest (significant) setbacks will lead to.

Maybe it's just me, but i feel the character development really sucked in this book. I'm talking about all the new people MC meets in Caspia or whatever that city's name was. That entire arc of the story was just terribly written and too brief, especially the scene where MC goes to that high society party. I had so much trouble following what was going on and all these new characters were introduced and i still wasn't sure who was who even towards the end of the book. I've come to expect better from David Burke, i'm usually a pretty big fan of his books, but this one sucked. The overall story is still not the greatest either.

Not his best work

So far this series seems rushed and not as well fleshed out as his others. I find the characters not that likable or little to them. The combat tactics and strategy suck with no outside thinking other than the traditional way, lay some freaking traps, do some sabotage or something.

Hmm

I didn't have as many issues with this book as I did the first one, but the series still doesn't seem as good as his war god series was. I'm starting to wonder if the author is in a slump or if he possibly peaked there and it's all downhill now. The series is just good enough I'll read the next book, but let's just say I'm not as much of a fan of this author as I used to be.

An awesome series!!!

Adventure, warfare, slice of life and healthy dose of humor and you have the making of a fantastic series!!!! Thus author has mixed all that and more in this series which makes it a delight to read!!! Turn your conscience loose and enjoy the ride!!!!

Great

Just what i needed from all the serious hack slash deep thinking game lit a pure joy of sexy fun times and an enjoyable story, yes it has its fights and is detailed in plots etc but some times like a good film or song you can just be immersed in and let it roll over you.

Absolutely love this series

Take a tower game, throw in a harem of mostly monster girl and in a stubborn MC and you have this series. Wonderfully written fight scenes with lots of humor and you have an impossible to put down book. Book 3 can’t come soon enough.

enjoyed

It was good, but not as good as the first. Story was a little choppy in the beginning, grammatical errors and inconsistencies in the story occasionally made you reread pages. Overall still good and looking forward to the third installment.

Action packed and danger filled!

Excellent second installment in the series with plenty of magic, battles and danger.

With plot twists and turns in every chapter and an unexpected twist at the end, I couldn't stop reading and now I'm eager for book 3!

Continued excellence

Lots of great action with minimal filler! I like the characters from the first book and the new additions. No fairytale ending to this book, if the gods want you gone, you best be going! But hope remains so on to the next book with pleasure.

This book was a toil to read. I found myself skipping large sections of sex and battle scenes because the book is mostly sex and battle scenes with little teeny snippets of plot thrown in. Even with all the skipping and speed-reading the book still took 4 days to read because I just kept getting distracted and the story wasn't there to hold my attention.
