Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

This is the series that ties in the two previous series, "Sagaen om Isfolket" and "Heksemesteren" - and not my favorite of the three. I kinda understand tying in the two series, but in my opinion it never should have been done.

I didn't like the alternate world they found inside our planet (yes, a world withing the world), and I never took to the new characters. I wanted the characters from the Saga to be left within the saga. And this series could have been an extension to the Witchmaster books.

These books I read more cause I wanted to know what happened next, rather than because I couldn't live if I didn't get to read them.

Detta är första delen i serien "Legenden om ljusets rike". Början på boken var fantastiskt spännande och jag såg fram emot en härlig 5-poängare till bok! 🤗

Den bjöd på den 14-årigs jungfrugunninna Siskas flykt; i högt tempo med hunger, rädsla och mörker.

Men efter första timmen sjönk tempot avsevärt och historien växlade över till häxmästarens familj med ursprung i isfolkets band. Och med det sjönk mitt intresse.

Böckerna om isfolket är bra, men den serien är allt för lång för att jag ska hålla intresset uppe. Och att då blanda in isfolkets ursprung i denna serie gör att jag genast sätter mig på tvären. 😔

Tyvärr förstod jag inte att denna bok var en direkt uppföljare av serien om häxmästaren, förens jag kommit en bra bit in. Om jag förstått det från början hade jag kanske inte tryckt på play... 🤔

Under resten av boken satt jag och väntar på att Siskas story ska ta vid igen. Men jag fick vänta riktigt länge. Pga det är jag inte säker på om jag ska fortsätta lyssna på bok två. Kanske ska jag satsa på en annan bokserie. Vad tycker ni?

Som alla böcker om isfolket och häxmästaren läser Julia Dufvenius denna och hon gör det bra som alltid. Med sitt lugna och tystlåtna tonfall skapar hon en spänning, som jag gillar. Men trots det så sjunker betyget drastiskt när jag var tvungen att lämna Siskas berättelse.

Can't believe that after 62 books I'm still here!
A beginning to a saga that's 20 books long. A combination of 2 previous sagas, and a direct continuation of hexmaster. Hexmaster ended in such a way that I just had to know what happened.

Even though it's a continuation the saga turned into something completely different. The focus shifts onto a new set of characters ( Yet AGAIN ). God there's over a hundred characters to remember now. I feel like I'm going crazy.

The key characters = Hexmaster family - Jori ( Uriel + Taran ), Jaskari ( Villemann + Mariatta ), Berengaria ( Rafael + Amelle ), Elena ( Danielle + Leonard ).
Others - Mountain guardian + Flonella = Armas.
The ice people appear near the end of the book. The last members were = Marco, Gabriel and his children Indra Miranda, Nataniel + Ellen and their granddaughter.
Not sure how I feel about the new cast, in a way it keeps things fresh. Yet...I have the most fond memories of the first characters, as I had time to build a bond with them.

Collected entry for all of “Lysets rike”. I like this series, especially the book with Griselda, but it is just not the same as either “Legenden om Isfolket” or “Heksemesteren”.

Completely fine series of you have read both of those series. Just to complete the stories of all the people involved. Can also just skip.

I enjoyed only a first few chapters and the ending. Should started Häxmästaren saga first and probably will do it before reading next books from Legenden om Ljusets rike
