Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

Wow, the plot certainly thickens in this story!

Just when we think things are going to be sorted out, yet more Dark Magicals appear!

I'm not sure how Winland will cope with it all, but I'm hoping her Mum will help her out, somehow - that's if they can work out their own personal problems first, of course.

But this story was just as gripping as the previous one, and I'm really hoping that the next, and last, book of this series: 'Eight if by Choice', will finally sort out things so that everyone living in, and under, East Calico Rock can settle, happily at last, in a place of safety!

So, without wasting any more time, I'll just finish this review, then start on this final story, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it all!

Winland finds her mother

Winland finally has her wish of finding her mother. Now comes the hard part of actually getting to know her, and finding out if she is a dark witch or has changed her ways. At the same time there is a dark general who is looking for her mother and will do anything to get her back. Very good series and I am looking forward to the next book to wrap everything up.

Really, 2.5 stars. I just didn't like this one much. I disliked Win's mom and the way they were together. The whole book was too much info about useless stuff. The first third of the book was less than 2 hours long and was like being in the mind of a bipolar depressed patient. This one just didn't work for me. The plot really didn't move forward more than a baby step. And more questions than answers were generated. I think I'm pretty much done with this series.

Excellent!

Wow. Lots of harsh truths in this one and Winland just has to learn to deal with reality. Unfortunately, it looks like her mom's past may be coming back to haunt them all. I am really looking forward to seeing whether Hector has a future, but it ain't looking good for him. Darn cliffhangers!

What happens if you get what you want most?

Winland had always wondered about her past and we get to see that maybe it's not what she needed. I'm loving this series! I get is Winlands story but maybe a little of her dad once in a while? Could be fun!!

Unbelievable! Amazingly, awesomely, horrible! LOL

By now, you would think I would be used to it… After all, I’ve said it before and I will reiterate it here, this is truly the Mike and Martha show at their very best!

Unfortunately, that also means that the hideously awful, and yet still managing to be awesome, cliffhanger endings are especially sharp and arrive with the stunning speed of a heart attack…. Or maybe a lightning bolt. Either way, your mad dash forward is brought to a sudden and painful halt.

That is, however, not a bad thing, by any scope of the imagination. You see, that sudden “halt” is so painful only because you have already been drawn so deeply into the story and are so engrossed that a stopping point seems inconceivable (And yes, although I AM part Sicilian, that word DOES mean what I think it means). So, really, any discomfort you may feel when you hit a jarring halt. It’s really only because the authors’ talent is so good. I would actually go so far as to say that it’s a rather small price to pay for the quality stories they deliver to us.

I am somewhat surprised, however, that this will be ending with the next book. There’s easily enough material here to carry the story on for at least another 4 to 5 books. But, I also understand the thoughts of authors and being “done” with a storyline and ready to move on to the next one.

A lot of questions get answered here and even more are brought up. I will confess, I half have expected to see another part of Winlan’s past join the story, but as he told her, this is her story, not his, so we won’t see her father, But I do hope he makes more than a cameo in the final book. All I can say is that you absolutely cannot go wrong with this series as an introduction to the world of Oriceran If you haven’t read any of the other box, so far. I would not read any of the books in the series out of order, but as an intro to the world, it is a great example, and some of the best writing Mike and Martha have done to date.

Of course, that’s just my opinion I’d be interested to hear yours if you disagree. Until then, ENJOY!
