“Whose heart is this, darling?”
“Yours.”
Arianna is the first installment in Love and War duet by Adrianna Brinne. This duet is part of the Unholy Trinity series, although it can be read as a standalone.
Cold. Calculating. Cunning. Arianna Parisi is the firstborn daughter of the Parisi boss. She has all the requirements to survive in a world such as hers, except one; she’s not the boy her father desperately wanted. Arranged to marry Senator Sebastian Kenton of Chicago, she prepares herself to exchange one cage for another.
Arrogant. Powerful. Ruthless. Bastian Kenton is as dangerous as they come. He has no qualms about getting what he wants; if having a wife is what it takes to save his political career and change his playboy image, then that is what he will do. He just never expected her to turn out the way she did.
- Arianna:
Where do I even begin to describe her? Arianna is a goddess, an icon of strength. Reading her backstory was painful, but in the end, you couldn’t help but admire how she overcame it all. For someone so young, she experienced so many awful things, and still dared to face everyone head-on, to dream, to laugh.
Another side of her that was refreshing to read about was her sarcasm. She was witty and sometimes unintentionally funny, which made reading her POV even more enjoyable.
“The title of princess is beneath me, really.”
- Bastian:
Bastian Kenton, the man that you are. Was there ever a more tyrannical yet swoon-worthy mmc? He was ambitious and could even be selfish at times, but when it came to Arianna and his daughter, Ella, he would always put them first. Bastian helped Arianna to dream again when she had no hope for the future.
“He gave me my wings back.”
Relationship:
Do we love a good fluff with a healthy dose of smut, or what? Because this story had it all. Bastian and Arianna are intellectuals; their conversations were deep, their romantic gestures full of meaning, and their chemistry raving up the page.
“Are you mine?”
“There could never be anyone else…”
Honorary mentions:
- Ella:
She’s Bastian’s, Arianna’s, and my precious baby. The love each of them had for the other was fierce and true and so, so sweet to read about. I hope they can finally get the happy ending they deserve.
Also, this is what I call a supportive mother:
“Ellaiza pays her no mind when the woman tries to talk to her. Such a good girl, my Ella. Very clever of her to spot a bitch at such an early age.”
- Banning:
I love you, you overgrown proud mother hen. But it’s time to settle down now…
Overall, this book deserves every single one of the 5 stars it got. If you haven’t grabbed it yet, what are you waiting for?
Note that Arianna ends with a cliffhanger. To understand the full story, you need to read part two, Bastian, as well.
