The Sweetest Season

Rate this book
Her peaceful writing retreat becomes a disaster when her house goes up in flames...literally.

A suggestion from her agent had writer Felicia Layton taking a sabbatical from her childhood home and finding solace in a small cabin on the Oregon Coast. But the run-down house is anything but peaceful, especially when the fire department has to show up...twice!

Being saved by a hunky firefighter in uniform should have had her imagination running wild, but Gavin's severe scolding afterwards throws a cold splash of water on any simmering attraction. So when he shows back up at the door, claiming he's been hired as a handyman to bring the house up to code, Felicia pushes aside the magic of the season to give him a clear answer.

No.

Good thing she punctuated it by closing the door in his face.

A sweet loving, positive read to brighten your day
Felicia, an author, has just lost her mother and dementia is a long, hard way to lose someone. Now she just can’t write and she has a deadline approaching. She’s struggling to keep her positive attitude like her mother taught her but she just can’t seem to move on. In a desperate attempt to break the writer’s block, she moves to a small cottage in Seagull Cove but it seems that the fates are against her. Putting a pan of bacon in the oven to cook while she takes a shower, she is soon greeted by loud, male voices and a firefighter, Gavin, that filled every one of her dreams except for his attitude. He is a grump of the first degree. Shaking that bad interaction off, she finds she can write again. Now if she just had heat in her house, there is a fireplace though. Finally deciding to build a fire and hope it can warm the house. That, however, was not the best idea leading to a chimney fire and another run in with Gavin. Gavin’s kind heart won’t let him do anything but help Felicia have a safe place to live. The sparks are soon flying but there is more than what meets the eye going on, in part because of secrets held. A fun entertaining read I can recommend. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Awesome Book!!!

I really enjoyed reading The Sweetest Season(Three Sisters Cafe Book 5)!!! All about Gavin Smith a firefighter & Felicia Layton a writer. Felicia keeps meeting Gavin when the house she is staying in keeps going up in flames!!! He has way to many problems to want to, add her to the mix!! But Felicia can not live in a cabin that is falling apart around her, and still be expected to produce her next best selling book at the same time! Read about Gavin & Felicia and see how fixing a broken down cabin, heals his heart!!! This is the fifth book in this wild series about Seagulf, Oregon. I can’t wait to read book six!!! I’ve fallen in love with the quirky town and all it’s residents!!! Definite Read!!!

Felicia is a writer struggling with writers block after the death of her mother. When her agent recommends she go stay in a small town in Oregon for a change of pace, Felicia decides to make the temporary change. When she gets to the rental home, she is shocked at the horrible shape of the place. The first time she uses the over, a fire ensues and Gavin Smith, hunky fire fighter in the small town carries her from the smoke filled home. I love the journey of the characters as they learn the meaning of family and fogiveness.

Who can resist a dreamy firefighter even if he’s a total grump?
Fiona finds it’s rather hard despite the clash in personality that turns into the easy banter she’s not sure what to do with.
Gavin has been burned in the past and doesn’t trust easily. His attraction to Fiona is not what he wants so why is he making excuses to be around her?
I love the way the romance in this book develops and the lessons learned along the way. Excellent book.

The unique love story of Gavin and Felicia will keep you reading when you should be doing something else…like sleeping! Both characters are strong, with just enough vulnerability to keep them grounded, and a supporting cast to keep things lively. As always Laura Ann writes a story which doesn’t bog you down with a word count to meet a goal. Her words create scenes and moods which move the story to its HEA. I received an ARC for an honest review, which I have given.

Spoiler alert: Quinn and Michael are stuck in a cabin for at least 2 day’s while a heavy storm outside prohibits them from leaving. A mentally unstable man from Quinn’s past threatens their safety while Michael’s family and friends look for them. Even after a very short courtship, they find their HEA. I enjoyed reading their story.

Felicia is having a hard time as an author since her mother died. Her agent thinks she needs a change of scenery. But the cabin really needs to be torn down, so the hunky firefighter says. Then he gets hired to "fix the place up". Things get worse before they get better. This is a fun read just right for the Christmas season. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.

Can't wait for more

Gavin fell hard for his tiny Felicia. They were a match made in heaven that they had to fight for and came out on the other side. We got to see our other favorite characters from this series. Loved it and can't wait for more

Fiona has suffered loss and Gavin has been betrayed. Their first meeting definitely involved heat and smoke and fire - a little comical. Liked seeing these two move past that bad first impression to more. His family was way too much and his mom more than ruffled my feathers - very selfish and uncaring. While I agree we should forgive I didn't care for how Fiona talked to Gavin about forgiving others. I did love the end. Another great book in this series.
