Sheridan has just left her husband of 25 years, and now what? Can she return to college and finish her music degree among students who are 20 years her junior?
Rhapsody is a May-December love story set in the small college town of Dalton Village, where Nicholas Durany, a young literature professor, teaches her things she never knew about love. Trouble arises when he proposes marriage, but she wins a coveted teaching position 3,000 miles away.
This unusual and moving novel invites you to reflect on what is really important in life.
I was born in Oregon and raised in northern California. While growing up I listened to my grandparents' and my mother's stories about life on the ranch they owned in Douglas County, some miles east of Roseburg.
Later (after I retired from work as a professional editor for an aerospace firm) I began writing fiction based on these stories... my first book was "Western Rose," which is based on the unusual courtship of my grandparents.
A medieval studies major in college, I have also written two medieval novels, one about a Crusader knight and a girl raised in a harem (!) who end up at the court of Eleanor of Aquitaine when she was Queen of England. The second novel is about a Templar knight who falls in love with a young woman troubadour... but of course because of his vows of chastity, he cannot marry.
I hope you will enjoy my books; I always like hearing from readers, so feel free to email me (carolynw@cruzio.com) and also see my website - http://www.lynnabanning.com.
Lynna Banning knows how to strike a chord with her characters, Sher, a 42-year-old student, follows the beat of her heart to pursue a music career. Nicholas, a young literature professor, has a passion for teaching about love but has not found it for himself. He unknowingly enters Sher’s life, causing an arpeggio affect on her heart. Sher tries her best to keep an adagio tempo while Nicholas is reaching a falsetto. Can they harmonize their lives, avoid the staccato, and hold onto legato?
This couple’s fugue reaches a polyphonic climax of what is most important in life. Will it be a Brahms intermezzo or a Rhapsody?
This is such an awesome book. A story of starting over, and making hard decisions! Sheridan finds herself single after a 23 year marriage. When her husband leaves her for a much younger woman. She realizes that it is a perfect time to live the dream she gave up when she married! She would go back to college, get her degree in music and teach piano! She was getting her life back…her life, not her husband’s. But when a handsome young man enters her life, and shows her some attention, can she choose her life, of his life? Not Again, this is her time, her life, her dream., and even if she had feelings for him, she knows this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. She has to choose when she is offered a teaching job 3000 miles away. He loves her, she loves Nicholas but this is her time , her life, her dream. I highly recommend this book!
This was a new to me author and I really enjoyed this book. Sheridan, who is now divorced, was determined to now have her own life and pursue her dreams. After all these years she would be going back to college to finish her music degree. Lots of classes to attend, papers to write and hours of piano practicing until she had her recital. After graduation she was offered an assistantship in Vermont. But, she has met someone along the way. Will she give up on her dreams to be in a relationship? What will happen when she moves from California to Vermont? You will have to read this great story to get your answers. Recommend this book.
What I liked the most about this story, is how Author Lynna Banning shows us what is most important in our lives. For those that may despair, feeling they are too old to love someone, who is younger - seek what is in your heart - for a life filled with love, will be a life filled with free flowing, spontaneous Rhapsody. Take a chance and read about what Sheradan and Nick experienced in their relationship. I highly recommend.
Sheridan finds herself divorced after 25 years of marriage what is she to do? She decides to go back to College and get her degree in music. This is where the May/Dec romance begins. But what will Sheridan do when she is offered a job 3000 miles away from her love? A quick paced novel with the touch of music . Enjoyed!
This book is about so much more than romance. It is a page turner that you will love. It is about all kinds of love, loss, grief, discipline, compromise, family, deceit, jealousy, talent, hard work, change, beauty, emotion..Plus lots of music notes. I was sort of sorry I finished the book, but could not put it down. How can you go wrong reading a book titled Rhapsody.
Lynna Banning is a new author to me. Rhapsody is a story about a middle-aged woman divorced and starting her life over again. You really have to read this book for yourself to feel all the feels that this gives your heart. Page turning story that leaves you wondering to love yourself enough to dream.
This Book really makes you take a look at what is most important in your life. Also can you make your dreams come true at the same time. Asking yourself if you can have it all ( love, happiness and your dreams) Some of the struggles you go through to make it happen. Would recommend this book to everyone.
Music and Love have always been synonymous to me! Sheridan has waited 25 years to finish her degree in music, can she bring back her dexterity and memory? Does meeting someone else who has suffered in love strengthen or ruin her? Lynna has blended piano and love in a true beautiful combination! Think Blended,Priority and Second Chances !
This was a bit different as she is older. I didn't like the first encounter as I don't condone cheating. I did like the ending, Nick is to die for, and I really liked Lilah.
