Unexpectantly in Love

Rate this book
What happens when your biological clock is ticking--but you're the only one around to hear it? You head to an exclusive baby-making app, of course.
What happens when you accidentally fall in love with your baby-making app match, but he's currently--unavailable? A lot.

This steamy, hilarious, romantic comedy is about two people searching for a forever family--while they trip over misunderstandings, way too many foster pets, headless statues, and nosy neighbors.

Sloane

Pitter Patter 4U dot com

Yep, you read that right. It’s the premier sight for finding a match in no-strings attached baby-making, and it’s my best chance at becoming a mother.

Filling out the form is proving to be more difficult than I expected.

Height, hair color—those are easy to answer.

But when it asks:

“When choosing a method of conception with the potential father of my baby, I would be open to:”

☑️Artificial insemination
☑️In-vitro
❌Natural

Natural? With someone I don’t even know? No thanks.

Dominic

The last thing in the world I thought I’d be doing on my 40th birthday is filling out a match form on pitter patter 4U dot com.

Time is ticking away and let’s face it—I’m not getting any younger.

I’ve had more women than I can count, but every last one of them would take me—and my family—for everything we’ve got. Well, half of everything we’ve got.

This solution will potentially kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Methods of conception? Naturally? I checked that off along with the others.

It’s a means to an end, after all.

Besides, it’s nothing a few stiff drinks—and a stiff...wouldn’t cure.

There's an App for That

This is such a cute and fun book and I loved the journey it took. Sloane and Dominic meet in an unusual way, but the sparks are there, and they slowly give in... until some white-ish lies topple things.

Sloane's adopted pets bring plenty of awws and oohs to the story, as well as some laughs. Then there are the friends and family. Ronnie, Dominic's bestie, is dynamite and his grandma really is something.

To rough out the edges, Sloane's sister is not the warm and cuddly kind and has plenty of negative karma building up. I'd feel bad for her hubby, but he certainly made his bed.

This was delivered in snippets over the course of many, many months as part of the author's newsletter. Thankfully, you can read it in one sitting without the long wait. 😉

Wow, I flew through that one. So good!

I had started out reading the week to week installments in Jessa's newsletter and then missed a few so didn't continue. So happy to have the opportunity to read the story in it's entirety. I really liked both characters and their crazy journey to love. Great twist at the end and a great epilogue a few years later.

This by far is my favorite book by this author! Of course I say that about each new book, but I think this one is going to stay in first place for a while.

While Dominic is an older man, it didn’t really play a large role in the story, which is fine with me. I loved that he was ready for the next stage of his life even if it didn’t include a wife. And then when things turned and he wanted a wife, oh my, my heart hurt so much for him. He was a great hero with a fun sense of humor and a kind heart. After all, anyone that takes to animals as he did is a winner in my book.

Sloane was the type of heroine that I really enjoyed. She was independent and ready for her own life changes and set out to make it happen. I loved her menagerie of pets and the wild chaos they sometimes created, making me chuckle. Her past holds a secret that had me turning pages as quickly as possible.

This book had me laughing out loud so many times I startled myself. It was so much fun and yet it had enough drama in it to keep me totally hooked. The premise of this story is unique and I appreciated the style in which the author wrote it. Definitely one I will be rereading in the future.

Send me a message to request safety/triggers/steam spoilers.

What a painful load of waffling. Full of internal monologs. Honestly skipped so many pages and didn't miss any of the story. Started off really well, at 40% it got really boring, then at 70% it just got stupid, immature and bitchy. Hating rich people does not automatically make you a good person.

I painstaking read a monthly few paragraphs of this book through her NL. I loved the premise and I kept hoping for more story. I just kept hoping….. Short bites are not my thing. I’ve lost track of how many months this went on for but I’m sure it was more than 18 months. Their back and forth drove me nutty. I held out hope for “romance” and any possible “sexy times” which there were none of either. A very shallow look at supposed romance and luurrvvee. I wish I never started it. Looking on Goodreads I’ve realised I haven’t read any of her actual books. Wish I realised this from the beginning. I have 6 of her free books in my library but if this story is anything to go by I won’t be reading them. I’m sorry to leave such a negative review and I hope for all her readers sakes this was just a blip. So f0r me romance = 0 sexy times = 1, rush to the end twins. Nothing about their “relationship” blossoming, funny scene in the last paragraph. I’m not a writer but think I could have done a better job. I feel like I’ve lost 5 minutes of my life every month for who knows how long. Jessa if you read this I hope you re read your story and see what is missing. Something’s just occurred to me I think this story was a write a bit, post a bit and probably not checked for cohesiveness. A wham bam thank you mam. I’ve unsubscribed from her NL. This is a first for me to be so disappointed, leave such a review and high tail it outta here.

Unexpectantly In Love is a wonderful strangers-to-lovers romance that was a joy to read. Ms. York did an amazing job of grabbing my attention right from the start with a storyline that was intriguing and sweet. Can you imagine using an app to find someone to have a baby with but not a relationship? Co-parenting with a complete stranger? Well, that is exactly what Sloane and Dominic are looking for. The only thing is that Dom is much older and comes from old money where as Sloane is young and seems to be just getting by. He is a lawyer and she is an artist but also is a foster parent to a menagerie of animals. Can two completely opposite people co-parent? While one is keeping a secret, the other cannot deal with keeping secrets and ask only for honesty. There was something about Sloane as well as the relationship between Dom and Sloane that had kept my attention right to the last page.

Unexpectantly In Love was full of laughs, and great banter but also sweet and loving moments. If you are looking for a fantastic strangers to lovers, opposites attract romance then this is the one for you.

Using an App to Have a Baby!!

Parenting with a partner is an 18 year venture (or more). Sloane and Dominic both have circumstances where they are unattached yet want to start a family. Some strange meetings happen before these two find each other and seem to be a great match.

One is hiding something, and the other can’t stand to be lied to. Will this be the end, or can they find their way forward?

The awkwardness of the situation lends itself to many hysterical situations. It’s witty and romantic; pure entertainment!

Modern day approaches to becoming parents is so interesting! I simply loved how this story about Dominic and Sloane unfolded. Fun house pets, a baby-making matching app and of course a LOT of miscommunications/assumptions made this story so fun to read. The sassy humour mixed with steam and longing had me rooting for this pair right from the start. Now I can’t wait to see the next story in the series!

I read this story for free as a member of the author’s newsletter. I enjoyed it so much I just HAD to share my voluntary review!

Unexpectedly in love

If you love to laugh and love romance, this story is for you. Jessica York has written a wonderfully entertaining story about two damaged people, Dom and Sloan, who want to have a baby . Through an app, they are matched and procede to fall in love . When Sissy, Sloan's sister, makes her entrance, the reader begins to understand why Sloan has trust issues . The happy ending was very satisfying, and I loved every minute of it. I look forward to Yorks' next book.

This book was giving me Hallmark story vibes with a smidge of seggsy time. It’s not as much spice as some of this author’s other books, but I thought it was cute. The premise was unique, but a little out there (think Hallmark movie!). Regardless, I zipped through this one quickly. Jessa always has tricks up her sleeves and there were a few “what?!” And “no way!” Moments in this cute little story. A fun read!

This book kept my attention throughout. I loved how the met, it was quite unique. There were so many ups and downs and back and forth. The banter, the misunderstandings, the truths that were withheld and especially the anticipation of the making up. Dominic and Sloane are sexy and fun. They flirt and contradict each other. Sometimes what seems different, isn’t all that different.

Unexpectedly in Love is a cute, fun read! The way Dominic and Sloane met is a little out of the ordinary, but it was different and new. Dominic and Sloane hit it off right away and had great chemistry only they tried to deny their feelings for the other. There were so many hilarious moments which only added to this out of box storyline!

Hilarious

The book is so funny I couldn’t stop laughing reading it. I love the main characters and their interaction with each other and the ridiculous amount of animals in Sloane apartment. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read romance and comedy.

Definitely an original storyline, so one I haven't read before which made a nice change.
It's a well written romance that I really enjoyed.

This story was so cute, quirky and different. Not the cookie cutter romance. It’s absolutely worth the time you get to spend with it.

This was a cute little rom com and with this day and age, I would think this really does exist. To meet someone online with the premise of having a baby with someone. I love getting a little pick me up like this as it lets me take a break from the genre I have been reading lately. I loved it because as it would be, nothing was going as planned and Sloane and Dominic just seem to go with the flow of things. Neither expecting they would find more when signing up for the baby making website.

They are different from each other, and I think that is what makes their chemistry so good. Then with a misunderstanding, the whole plan almost gets derailed. And the reason is quite funny in my book as to why Sloane feels like she will be doing it alone and using science to conceive.

I could go on and on, but I think most will like this little quick read. It has a little bit of quirky with a small side of steam to it. This does end in an HEA so it is well worth it.

This has been such a fun and cute book to read.

I followed an amazing jouney.

Sloane and Dominic meet in a special way.

Some sparks here and there, and they slowly give in ....

But some lies are being brought to light.

This book contains some cute as hell pets that make your heart melt even more than what the story already did.

I loved that even the not head characters are so well-thought-out and wonderfull.

Ronnie (bff of Dominic), Domincs grandma... just amazing people.

But then there are also less amazing characters, Sloane's sister is a piece of work.

What a great little romance! This was truly a wonderful story to read. It was fun, funny, sweet, slow burn with a pop of sizzle. The characters were truly one of a kind and you had some great side characters.

This story takes the dating apps to a whole new level!

This is Dominic and Sloane’s story. They meet through an unusual app and click with each other instantly, but that seems to be a little problem. They hold back information on each other and when she finds out about his “lie”, gets livid and won’t trust him. Later on he finds out a huge secret about her, something she kept from him. He has a funny, meddling friend and so does she. There are also foster animals involved that make this story even more fun. Loved it!

Sloane and Dominic took me on a wild ride. They’re both looking to have children. They’re both tired of fake people and aren’t keen on the luck they’ve had with relationships. And they both agree on honesty and communication. Or…they think they do. Because there are a few secrets waiting to be revealed. And trust me, one of them may knock your socks off.

The embarrassingly funny moments that these two endure makes the slow burn that much more enjoyable. And when Dominic decides he’s done waiting for Sloane to let him communicate, he lets her know in no uncertain terms how he feels. But sometimes communication isn’t meant to be had, as these two painfully discover. Luckily, it’s more a matter of timing, and spectacular timing at that, since Dominic is more than eager to slay any and all of Sloane’s dragons…even the ones she wishes she could just forget or ignore.

Get comfy, get ready for fun and angst and emotion and love. And prepare to not want to put this one down until the very last words are read.

Un Expectantly In Love was a cute and fun romance. What do you do when you want a baby but don't have a partner? Join PitterPatter4Udotcom and hope for a match. Sloane and Dominic were wonderful characters that kept me fully engaged. Of course, there's sweet, sad, and LOL moments along with some misunderstandings. I was rooting for them! Very enjoyable and delightful romance.
